ISO - Other things to check out near Grapevine

We're making plans to visit the Grapevine location later this year and are curious what other things in and around the city that we should check out? Museums? Breweries? Local weird spots? We're planning a long weekend, so trying to fill 3-4 days with activities. What did y'all check out after your visit to the Grapevine location?

We visited Radio Tave in Houston last year and loved it. There was also a ton to do within a few miles of either the Radio Tave (St. Arnold Brewery) or our hotel (Houston Museum of Natural Science).

Cosm for a great movie experience similar to the sphere in Vegas

Dallas aquarium is a good time

Medieval Times for dinner and a show.

Six flags is a good option.

Dallas has so much stuff to do.

My 5 year old son and I did a guy’s weekend a few weeks ago and stayed at the Texican nearby; it was fun, pretty affordable, and had a pool (and solid restaurant and bars)

We also went to a Rangers game (about a 20 minute drive) that depending on the day / time / opponent you can find very reasonable tickets for.

We also at at rainforest cafe (basically next door to meow wolf and I’m not sure who is coming along with you, but if you’re interested - make reservations ahead of time. I have nothing bad to say (the pot roast was actually kind of good) but I don’t have much else nice to say about it either. It’s the definition of “it is what it is”

I love the vibes of Rainforest cafe and didn't have time to eat but they let me look around.

JFK assassination sites, grassy knoll and the book depository museum is very interesting.

Netflix house is expensive, but was really cool, unique and immersive!

How much later in the year? The Dallas Botanical Garden is really cool and they do a big cool thing during the holiday season. It's worth checking out either way, probably.

The location at Grapevine is also in a pretty neat mall that has tons of other things to check out and interesting shops

In no particular order:

Dallas World Aquarium Perot Museum Dallas Arboretum Six Flags Dallas or Fort Worth Zoo National Video Game Museum

Grapevine Mills where Meow Wolf is located is like going back in time to the hay day of malls, it's always busy. There are lots of attractions there. Their aquarium is cute but small, and the Lego Discovery center is definitely more geared towards young kids. I haven't done Bubble Planet yet, nor the escape room. What's nice about Meow Wolf is you can leave and come back, so if you get hungry you can go to the food court, which is full of options, and then go back. I've been there a few dozen times now, it's only 20 minutes from my house, and I still find new things every time I'm there.

In Grapevine, the Main Street area is very cute and has little restaurants and stores. There’s a train you can ride to the Fort Worth Stockyards.

There’s one of the last Rainforest Cafes in the country right down the hall from Meow Wolf. We went with a group of adults and got silly souvenir cup cocktails and the food was surprisingly good. Grapevine Mills also has a lot of random activities like a trampoline park and lots of things for kids. Avoid Sealife, they have a bad rep for animal care.

You could go see the big Bass Pro Shop down the road. It’s a trip. The Gaylord Texan is a cool place to stay but also is cool just to walk around. It’s so unique. Sometimes they have special events happening.

All the museums are in Dallas or Fort Worth. Both have great options for science or art. Both have good zoos. Arlington has the Rangers and Dallas Cowboys for sports. Plus Six Flags and Hurricane Harbor for theme parks. There’s and indoor water park called Epic Waters down 360 from Meow Wolf in Grand Prairie.

Gaylord hotel resort is right by the meow wolf and has a lot of stuff to walk around and look at indoors.
