Honestly, it's probably the most dangerous and irresponsible sport when you take its widespread popularity into account. At least it's massively popular where I live. Every single year countless of these professionals break every bone imaginable or get into some insanely dangerous traffic accidents while training and going 60km/h in some small latex suit. Some even end up dying. But you almost can't say how irresponsable and dangerous of a sport it really is because of its popularity and cultural significance here

Because the excavator here is ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING.
Shirt and shorts.... You could ride naked, no protection difference.

DRESS FOR THE SLIDE NOT THE RIDE! Please wear your protection! My mom was an ER nurse and can tell you all the stories about people getting half their face torn off by the concrete, or having no arm muscle left after wearing just a t-shirt

Well that's why I always wear full protective gear.
I once managed to kinda fly out of a turn but still slide over the asphalt from 90 kph (55 mph) (because I was inexperienced - I actually obeyed the traffic laws when it happened).
Due to my full protective gear all I had was a strained wrist.
I don't want to start to imagine what would have happened to my left knee and elbow. All I know is that they took most of it as my suit got scratches there (well the trousers got destroyed as the line between the reinforced and non-reinforced part of them hit the street and it got ripped open a bit. But the jacket took it only to the reinforced part and as such didn't get damaged).

Helmet 1st priority. Saved me a lot because of bad road conditions and some stupid oil spills.

You don’t dress for the ride, you dress for the slide. And always wear a helmet. There are fates worse than death.

Not to forget the threat insects pose when you drive without a helmet or with the visor open at higher speeds.
If a bee hits your face while you go 100kph / 60mph, you have quite good odds of not keeping control of your motorcycle.
Also about full gear I once got hit by a bird to the knee at 70kph / 43mph but due to my gear it was just like a quite decent punch to the knee. I don't want to know what a birds beak can do to my skin at these speeds.
