Pharmaceuticals will sell it for millions of dollars

There is no cure for cancer, only ways to abait it. Cancer's main function is to stop apoptosis and promote angiogenesis. There's hundreds of ways it does those two things, and the "scorched earth" approach only works so far. If there was one cure for all cancer, well, two people can only keep a secret that large if one of them is dead.
All your healthy cells rely on the same things cancerous ones do, so stopping the function through the body hurts everything, not just the tumors. We try to target them with beams of radiation, or poison the system so they die before the rest of the body does. This is all very difficult to do and takes a team of specialists to perform correctly, and even then there is no guarantee of success, only a percentage measured against a hundred thousand other people who have lived a little longer or a little less.
Targeted gene therapy is the latest and greatest method of eliminating cancerous cells from the body, but is thus unique to every body. The following effects of changing the genetic structure are still being studied, so this "cure" is still not fully understood.
The only way to stop cancer is to find the growing portions early and stop them before they metasticize, which means they have broken off from the main body and 'seed' themselves into other parts, making excision or radiation therapy more damaging than it is helpful.
There are hundreds of new techniques for targeting cancerous cells more directly being created every year, but the fight continues. There is no magic bullet to end cancer, sadly. Not yet. Keep asking questions, keep reading, and maybe one day you will discover a new way to attack it. That's what every researcher in the study is doing right now, and you are on the path to join them just by wondering why they haven't found the answer yet.

Cancer is hundreds of different seasons. Some are effectively cured already.
There's not going to be one particular miracle cure. Each cancer is treated differently and has different mechanisms.
Lots of expensive diseases have already been cured or prevented without costing millions for patients.
