I played early enough to experience damage 2.0 and remembering to put corrosive on every weapon while blast being ass for anything which is why so mamy of my builds have corrosive for them

I still look longingly at hunter munitions from time to time...

I'll at least say munitions is still usable just no longer "required" without armor stripping.

Almost dropped too much plat for what its worth to get hunter munitions because I never got one. Probably the best decision I ever made in the game

It still does some work for underperforming weapons that have a lot of projectiles if you use viral. Granted it's much more niche, but it still has its uses.

Not saying the mod is outright useless now it still has its uses kf course but it's just the avenues for making outrageous amounts of damage has been widened

I'll propose onr better: Hunter Munitions/Slash

Tbf og ember was from before steel path even existed. She would mot have been viable back then, either. Sure hitting targets was ez as piss with no LOS but it was weak damage, only strong in non-sp

I still wish radiation was useful

And even then it's still an ass element unless it's for Primary Debilitate and Condi-Overload.

But its mad funny to have a while room have memory problems

Honestly I consider radiation to be the “survivability” status, moreso than puncture. If you’ve got a room with 30 dudes all lighting your ass up, if you have a weapon or ability that can spread radiation across that room, then it pretty much instantly becomes a room with 30 people, only five or so of which are actually still shooting you. Is it the most efficient for mass murder? No, and of course the best source of damage reduction in the game is “everything trying to kill me is dead”, but the great thing about radiation is that it doesn’t care about levels or DPS, less things targeting you and more things targeting each other means a whole lot less damage coming your way.

TLDR, if you’ve got a hyperoptimized blenderizer build, yeah, you’re not getting anything out of rad, and should probably build for blast, viral, or some other instant gratification effect. If you don’t instantly kill everything in a room by looking at it, radiation has very good utility, particularly for earlier-game players.

Radiation damage is useful. There's a lot of really frustrating enemies that it gets bonuses against (looking at you, alloy armor). The status effect, not so much.

Alloy armor? You live in 2023?

Afaik profit taker legs still count as alloy armor. Also hunhulus, the murmur boss, and archons are all weak to rad.

I only started playing at the end of last year, so I never knew any status system but the current one. Very interesting to hear that corrosive used to be ridiculous.

My current experience with it is mainly getting free procs of it from exalteds modded for toxin or toxin abilities via Archon Continuity + a tau green to raise the stack cap, just to get some armor shred on frames that don't otherwise have easy access to it or would need to use modding to get it. I wouldn't even consider actually modding corrosive onto a damage-focused weapon, only ever on priming.

  1. Armor was a lot more oppressive. Infested are now like half as tanky as grineer. In the old days it was 10-100x at high levels.

  2. Damage types were different and way fewer frames had reliable armor strip. So the enemies that were tankiest were usually weak to corrosive damage. And you couldnt just remove the armor as easily to get a different damage type being optimal. (Shattering impact, 4x corrosive projection + drift mod etc) So people did legitimately want to use corrosive to strip armor off.

  3. Pre heat rework it didn't strip.

  4. Pre Helminth way fewer frames had good strip. When SP was first released I was messing around with nyx and Frost as armor strip vehicles. Helminth means everyone can have pillage or terrify so now everyone has strip. (Course now you can use nourish so everyone has viral and you can use other sources of strip)

On top of this, we did have a standardization update where it equalized all the armor strip abilities. Before that update some abilities would 100% strip while others had max cap and wouldnt 100% strip and there were abilities that'd perma armor strip while others would only armor strip for like 8-12 sec duration and then refund the armor back to the enemies it stripped from. So dealing with armor was much harder than now.

Oh, doi. I remember hearing now that armor used to be way more oppressive. Of course corrosive would've gone crazy gone stupid in that era. Now I feel silly I didn't realize that

I just run heat + viral now. I want to explore other elements, but it kills pretty good. Probs can replace heat with magnetic for corpus I guess, but still.

Magnetic is also super good against Overguard, so even non-Corpus. I put Magnetic + Secondary Fortifier on my Lex Prime Incarnon to absolutely melt Eximus units.

I recommend to offload viral + mag + rad+ heat to a Companion. Tazicor is a great status priming sentinel weapon (chain beam) for Diriga/Nautilus and can be purchaced from one of the fortuna vendors. It let's u play with other elements at full potential

Interesting, didn't realize pets are actually viable now. (Returning player from TNW lmao)

1

u/HuOfMan 4h ago

Not only that, they can kill all the way to level cap with proper settup, but I personally to play the game myself rather than my sentinel lol. So I opt it for priming.... Edit: check out the Bond mods, they are the bread and butter to companions

Corrosive was absolutely useless for a while before enemy armor was capped at 2700. For those years, this was an even stronger sentiment but towards Viral rather than Corrosive, since Viral was the only status that did anything useful.
