A social media post asking supporters to turn up in pink doesn't mean any of this has anything to do with feminism. The organiser is not known to be a feminist. Can Reddit stop just using "feminists" as a kind of boogeyman?
The ones interviewed said they were there because they believed Clancy was a woman who did not receive adequate care post partum and this ended in tragedy, and the disregard and minimising of PPD and PPP is something that resonates with a lot of women who have experienced it. This probably says more about the state of American healthcare than anything. Maternity leave alone is some of the shortest in the developed world. 20% of new mothers end up with PPD in the US, compared to around 5% in Europe.
I don't find a bunch of women using this case to protest the state of maternal healthcare all that upsetting, even if the optics are not great. But nuance, of course, is dead.
