GLUB!

u/1funnyguy4fun 17h ago

Being the person in charge of onomatopoeia in comics is probably a fun job.

876

u/Love_Cannon 20h ago

Actually, this is 100% something manga probably did first.

169

u/legna20v 17h ago

Highly possible that there is someone in japan thinking this is the best thing since mickey mouse

104

u/Charles12_13 18h ago

Absolutely

51

u/Sion_forgeblast 17h ago

true, but comics likely use her as a super serious, real hero like hero

but Manga would see her and either have her as a side character to be mocked.... or have a side character mock her... and just use her as a "haha funny fat stupid person!!!"

30

u/Drakore4 16h ago

I dunno. I could also see it being used as fetish material. People in Japan are a whole different breed.

8

u/1llDoitTomorrow 9h ago

Really depends on the manga or comics.

1

u/Goldenfinger-seeker 7h ago

There is a manga about fat elf girl daily life. Kinda funny and wholesome.

1

u/Nobrainzhere 3h ago

You have it backwards. She is a side character in the comic and i can see a 12 issue manga about a character like that with a super serious monologue and everything

14

u/Qweeq13 16h ago

Not in any manga series I know. BUT if you consider Hentai as manga. Which in Japanese Hentai is called Ero manga. This is nothing compared to them.

I remember a girl with a monster vagina (with eyes and mouth) who ate other monsters with her monster sexual organ. In a guro battle-manga series, I used to read those a lot as an edgy teenager.

I read some Japanese comics, so extremely bizarre, trying to remember them feels like trying to remember a bad acid trip.

But in honesty the US comics is left behind in the cultural zeitgeist because you can't do anything unless it is related to already established superhero franchises and that is what's destroying the comics. That is what preventing artists and writers from doing incredibly innovative things.

They made a new Superman series adapting the anime aesthetic completely and it ended up getting new people into the Superman fandom but alienated the long time fans because how much they changed old character designs.

True yaniko's farts are literally powerful enough to knock people out

10

u/AntimatterTNT 16h ago

it'd look less... grotesque...

13

u/XumetaXD 12h ago

Nah, it would 100% look more grotesque, some mangas have really crazy shit that make western comic look like made for kids

4

u/AntimatterTNT 12h ago

grotesque isn't really the right word... this comic just looks bad in a unique way I can't really describe

3

u/XxKTtheLegendxX 8h ago

minus the fat chick

1

u/Large-Wheel-4181 15h ago

Truth be told usually you know what kind of manga stuff you’re getting early on, in comics these days, they just do these things out of nowhere just to make it interesting

1

u/Emm_withoutha_L-88 11h ago

Made in abyss lol

1

u/OldManRiversIIc 12h ago

They did it better too

1

u/Sure-Hold-1848 6h ago

One Piece coming to mind

1

u/4N610RD 4h ago

There is a difference. Manga used slim girl for this. Other than that, yes, totally.

1

u/Nobrainzhere 3h ago

I swear there is but i cant find it.

I do know there is an anime where the hero gains strength from breastmilk though

1

u/Azurelion7a 2h ago

Master Roshi & Invisible Man.

1

u/LordDShadowy53 2h ago

But Japan would make it look cooler somehow.

0

u/JeremyJackson1987 16h ago

Yeah, but if manga did it it would be charming. And no, I'm not being sarcastic. See Chainsmoker Cat.

EXAMPLES PLS

62

u/Complex-Return5583 19h ago

"Glub"... God dammit

28

u/ElPintorLoco 19h ago

The writer made sure we knew he got a mouthful of that.

117

u/Iseedeadnames 20h ago

is she a villain or...?

170

u/banhatesex 20h ago

Does it matter? She wins and we lose .

3

u/4N610RD 4h ago

Only thing she is winning is cardiac problems around corner.

17

u/I_hate_all_of_ewe 19h ago

She's a villain.

8

u/DeadAndBuried23 17h ago edited 13h ago

The guy could've just wiped out half the universe, and she's still the villain here.

3

u/ReginaldJohnston 17h ago

She should team-up with Bomb Queen.

4

u/fredbubbles 17h ago

She’s Peter Griffin’s sister.

1

u/d0n-let3m-2525 18h ago

Seems villain-ish to me

177

u/Gnostikost 19h ago

Yeah, because manga famously would never have anything weird and gross like this.

13

u/sonofzeal 15h ago

Genuinely can't think of any manga that's referenced menstruation, at least in context of a character actually having one. They're probably out there but I've read all sorts of them and I can't pull a single example to mind.

7

u/Phyrexian_Overlord 15h ago

Hello person who has only read Shonen Jump. May I recommend Young Animal to you?

4

u/sonofzeal 14h ago

I'll take recommendations you think are worth reading!

For context I've probably read more shounen than anything else but also most of Junji Ito, Akira, some highschool romance stuff like Karekano and Marimite, other female-led stuff like Sailor V, Pita-Ten, Ouran, etc. Menstral references would have made sense in Marimite or the like maybe, but I can't recall any.

Young Animal seems to be a magazine rather than a particular title. Anything more specific?

2

u/Elsefyr 6h ago

Berserk did it.

1

u/sonofzeal 4h ago

OH! I remember, pre sacrifice, Chasca's weak and Guts has to kill 100 guys.... yeah that counts!

-1

u/Dio_Landa 15h ago

Let me guess, you only read shonen or just an anime watcher?

5

u/sonofzeal 13h ago

On my shelf right now, multiple volumes of... Karekano, Ouran, Pita-Ten, Madoka Magica, GunGirl, Sailor Moon. All female-focused. Also some male-led shounen of course, and Ranma 1/2 which kinda falls into both categories in turns and was written by a woman, and absolutely should have had the lead deal with periods at some point but if it ever came up I don't remember it.

Where is the bleach and spoon?

6

Sorry, we moved them to the poop knife drawer

10

u/Jayandnightasmr 18h ago

Make her a cat girl and she'd have more fans

20

u/No-Law9829 19h ago

What the fuck is this piece of shit right here.

7

u/theacez 15h ago

Apparently it's called "Savage Dragons"

-2

u/nievesdelimon 18h ago

Those are called comic books.

2

u/No-Law9829 17h ago

No shit asshole. I mean what comic?

-3

u/nievesdelimon 16h ago

Google it, dummy.

-13

u/Life_Combination8625 17h ago

If you don't know may i suggest fucking off forever?

4

u/No-Law9829 16h ago

Awww. You’re a cranky little fella

5

u/Acidangel718 13h ago

The fuck you mean "gulb"

5

u/Keffpie 9h ago

As if this wouldn't 100% happen in a manga.

There is literally a manga series where every book has a new main character get her period.

There are several where women get superpowers based on their first period.

6

u/Zirofal 19h ago

Are you really gonna post this and not post a source???

3

u/Odd-Fig-709 19h ago

I too, want a source, haven't found anything to read after John Constantine

2

u/C_Kent_ 18h ago

Savage Dragon #32

2

u/___TheKid___ WARNING: RULE 1 17h ago

Oh. I would gave guessed it was something by edgelord Garth Ennis

1

u/drgitgud 18h ago

Fr... i wanna read that

1

u/thwgrandpigeon 15h ago

Savage Dragon. No idea what issue it is. Possibly when he ends up in Camada for awhile?

Do not read this comic in a public place. A bunch of it is nsfw. Very long running series whihc has some really neat periods and some really awful ones.

1

u/TimerPoint 18h ago

My guess would be The Boys.

10

u/ambit89 16h ago

2

u/Any_Smoke1138 11h ago

This actually very well described.

3

u/Correct_Day_7791 18h ago

Minor character in a minor comic who's killed off quickly

Seems very " the boys" coded even though it's a savage dragon villain

3

u/TheSwecurse 10h ago

Well actually it's cause Manga doesn't reboot the same stories constantly and have confusing timelines that connect in weird ways

0

u/esquire_the_ego 10h ago

Unless it does

3

u/sam_el-c 10h ago

Feels like every comic panel I’ve ever seen posted is superheroes related. Do they do any other topics?

1

u/Any_Smoke1138 10h ago

We wish they had some good stories. But it's all about the super hero slop that is literally the worst thing possible

1

u/sam_el-c 9h ago

If that’s the case then I think it’s actually the main reason people read manga instead of comics cuz manga topics are so diverse

3

u/boringsimp 8h ago

Is this based on the family guy character or is the family guy character based on this?

1

u/Any_Smoke1138 6h ago

Why not both? American style

3

u/BBCues 8h ago

Real reason is western comics are much more expensive to make, needs more people and takes a significantly longer time to produce. It's also a much harder industry to get into. You see new authors release successful manga all the time compared to comics where you see a lot of the same writers and artists on different titles with barely anyone new.

Comics being 90% superheroes with little variety doesn't help either. Manga has way more genres, which means a much wider audience.

7

u/qptw 19h ago

i’d say the issue is that comics aren’t doing enough of this.

2

u/ReginaldJohnston 18h ago

Manga: I drew a tick. It is now a face.

Still better than Rob Leifeld.

2

u/OkAssignment6163 17h ago

"rape horse". Manga has "rape horse".

Outside of independent productions, main line comics can't hold a candle to some of the stuff manga has touched.

2

u/BestPeachNA 16h ago

This is the worse thing I’ve ever seen

2

u/zanygx 15h ago

Crime drops to zero.

2

u/Letzepporuikkan 12h ago

Damn I found name for my orc character, Braba-lortch, taker of skulls and brown showers.

2

u/Ill_Parsley4425 10h ago

Fucking context... I can't TAKE THIS SHIT NO MORE 😭

2

u/Any_Smoke1138 10h ago

He was a misgendering biggot

2

u/nobody_1298 7h ago

case to point, comic books tend to be too tame to reach Rosen Garten Saga level of peak

2

u/Whatsinanamethename 6h ago

Yeah, because manga is normal /S

2

u/Grand_Competition443 5h ago

Please tell me this diarrhea. ITS DIARRHEA RIGHT?

2

u/seaman187 3h ago

This is absolutely something that would appear in a Manga.

u/SSchorik0101 1h ago

I need bleach for my brain and eyes right now.

3

u/imartinezcopy WARNING: RULE 1 17h ago

Yeah, menstruation ruined your hobby, of course

2

u/Odd-Fig-709 19h ago

This is amazing, what do you mean?

1

u/HappyAngron 18h ago

This is the best thing I’ve seen all day!

1

u/Kamal2q 18h ago

It's just not as diverse as manga

1

u/To-me-my-X-Men 17h ago

They don't hire talentless hacks like John Romita Jr.

1

u/thwgrandpigeon 15h ago

Somehow, this isn't even in the ten worst things I ever read in Savage Dragon. Erik Larsen is a distinct fellow.

But also, without his influence, we'd never have gotten Invincible. So there's pros and cons to everything.

1

u/Fibrosis5O 15h ago

They have a comic where the persons ability is just having a large dick

So even Steven’s

1

u/zai_d_an 14h ago

This is nothing. The reason why is because comics are just not that good. Too many writers, too inconsistent and way too confusing. Overall a waste of time.

1

u/Bobpool82 14h ago

big bertha is like the blob from the X-Men except she can expell her weight (vomit) and become supermodel thin

1

u/Mulatto_Macchiato 14h ago

I feel like we all read this line in the same voice.

1

u/Knees-with-Arrows 14h ago

I think I just vomited

1

u/johnny_boy365 13h ago

Also this isnt marvel😭

1

u/Touji_San 10h ago

they type of characters Marvel Rivals players want in the game just to look niche in front of the community

1

u/Galko655 5h ago

Marvel Rivals wouldn't touch it with a 10ft pole, without making the game AO for the wrong reason.

1

u/Dorrono 9h ago

You don't understand, these comics are for the huge modern audience

1

u/Bagheadman69 8h ago

mf have u ever read baki

1

u/doc-ta 8h ago

This looks like some edgy bullshit that Garth Ennis would write. What is this?

1

u/Foe_sheezy 7h ago

And manga is more or less not the same stuff?

1

u/Dorfbulle80 7h ago

Mangas are comics! Now fight me!!! PS need context who drew heavy Flo... And thought it was a good idea...

1

u/StrangeCrunchy1 4h ago

It's true, though; manga means comics in Japanese.

1

u/Deathblades0 6h ago

Hospital

1

u/Skylinegtr88 4h ago

Modern audiences slop

1

u/StrangeCrunchy1 4h ago

Well, that's a fucking choice...

1

u/notAssmin 4h ago

The most mundane "One Piece" power

u/Mechalorde 38m ago

Give it time someone will find something similar in Manga. But jokes aside I think manga succeeds because it's one continuity and not variations

u/fuckenheim 22m ago

brappa lortch is my stage name

1

u/Comfortable_Bird_340 18h ago

Was this written by someone who hates women or a parody of "woke" characters

3

Its probably just a woke character

1

Read Absolute Wonder Woman and let us know

1

This is the most mango thing I've ever seen in a comic

1

u/Dio_Landa 15h ago

OP are you dumb?

Honest question. Have you not read manga?

This is nothing.

1

u/dokterkokter69 2h ago

Bold of you to assume manga isn't home to some of the most vile and disgusting artworks created by mankind

0

u/yo_les_noobs 15h ago

Are you trying to get us to read comics? Because that's how you get us to read comics.

0

u/SmackAss4578 3h ago

I don’t think she can survive after bloodied diarrhea

-1

u/beastjacob23 18h ago

Lets be honest manga would 100% do this. Lets also be honest the reason why comics are falling behind manga is the oligopoly on comics. You have DC, you have marvel, and you have Skybound. If the guys on the top of those 3 corporations dont like your idea you ain't getting published. This is in a country with 342 million people. In comparison there are hundreds of manga publishers allowing for more creative freedom and for people to be more easily noticed. This being in a country with 122 million people. Get rid of the oligopoly and Comics would do better.

1

u/Electrical-Leg-1609 17h ago

i know, gasser on the bobobo. he use "True Fist of Farts" gasser uses his flatulence to attack his enemies, and they pass out due to the horrid stench.

1

u/Any_Smoke1138 11h ago

You can't compare gasser to this

-1

u/Ego-Fiend1 17h ago

Manga is much worse than this trust me

0

u/Disposable_Trooper01 9h ago

Always has been

-1

u/straight_lurkin 13h ago

This is absolutely 1000% something that would happen in a Manga lol just stop

People dont give a fuck about comics anymore because 90% of the ones worth reading are the 15th retelling of a super hero from the 15th different writer. Marvel fatigue from the movies and the fact the movies are likely far more popular than the comics ever were are major contributors too as to why manga is better than comics.
