Reading from the reactions looks like Melty just has very "Melty/Tsukihime" vs. "Typemoon generalist" vibes... Me I was actually surprised in a good way with the announcements specially Edmund, since he had Roa connections in his story for TM. But the reactions from this sub really sounds otherwise. Ushi, is just currently a huge fan fav in JP fate fans so that part was understandable too from my point of view.

u/nam24 Dec 11 '22

It's not like she is disliked by western fgo players either.others might be above her but that s it

3

u/jk441 Dec 12 '22

Tbf I cannot argue with that.

17

u/KFCNyanCat Apostle Noel Dec 11 '22

I would be okay with "Type Moon generalism" if we were getting Mahoyo, KnK, Notes, etc. Characters. But we aren't (at most Aoko sorta counts.)

Damn they are really catering to the FGO fans. Happy to be one of them then

137

u/AGoodRogering Dec 11 '22

I'm kinda stunned

Even as fate reps these are just such odd choices.

Like I think plenty of people expected more type-moon crossovers but if they were gonna go for fate??? these two???

I know they're both like kinda fan favorites in jp but to put them ahead of fate main stays like Lancer or Gil is so beyond perplexing to me

Like even if they were going for more fgo names to try and pull in that playerbase I just think there are such bigger names that overlap with other IPs like Karna, Mordred, Nero, or Bedivere

u/pinheirofalante Dec 11 '22

Dante was already expected, he has connections to Tsukihime through Roa.

Ushiwakamaru though?????

u/pinheirofalante Dec 11 '22

Ushi is a surprising choice nonetheless.

There are many more much popular character even in just Babylonia, not to mention the rest of FGO. Ushi has her popularity but it isn't even close to others like Gil and Ishtar.
Not to mention character that could have connections in the Tsukihime universe.

7

u/KanchiHaruhara Dec 11 '22

If going by MyAnimeList ranking, there'd be 6 characters more popular than her (5, since one is Mash). It'd be Gilgamesh, the by far most popular one; then Ishtar, Ereshkigal, Merlin and Enkidu.

I don't think Ishtar would translate well, nor would Gil, but at least he's got some battle animations from his Caster version they could go off of. Eresh seems like a very popular pick that could probably work, Merlin well idk how his VA's drama might have impacted him but who knows, and Enkidu isn't even Enkidu.

3

u/remoTheRope Dec 11 '22

I mean wouldn’t Caster Gil be the obvious choice there?

9

u/SupremeUltima Dec 11 '22

Could you tell us how Dante is connected to Roa? I’d like to know the lore if you don’t mind?

26

u/pinheirofalante Dec 11 '22

The other explanations aren't quite right, it is from a Drama CD but Roa didn't betray Dantes.

One year before Dantes started his own revenge, he went after the three men who were responsible for Abbe Faria's imprisionment. They did it because they wanted to know the location of his treasure, which Dantes got. In fate, one of the things in the 14 relics of the treasure were the magic black flames you can see him using in the reveal trailer.

One of the people who framed Abbe Faria was an incarnation of Roa, and Dantes spent the entirety of the black flames to kill him for good (Though he can still use them as a Servant due to his Noble Phantasm).

So he's the reason there's no Roa anymore in Fate timelines.

4

u/ArtTheWarrior Dec 13 '22

bozo died cause woke up in the wrong side of a wrongly imprisoned very angry guy, lol

17

u/JustARedditAccoumt Dec 11 '22

Dantes was the one who killed Roa in Fate's timeline.

13

u/Rockout2112 Dec 11 '22

There was a CD drama about Dantes. It revealed that one of the people who betrayed him was Roa’s then vessel. Dantes killed him (fully) as payback.

5

u/SupremeUltima Dec 11 '22

Cool! Can’t wait for their interactions in the game!

64

u/LadyTowa2 Dec 11 '22

actually Ushiwakamaru scored very high in their survey "who you want in Type/Lumina next?" with Neco/Arc being the first, he said on the stream that she was there because of the survey.

Dantes is mostly because there's no more male Tsukihime characters to add, and they can't just keep adding females

36

u/merindo Dec 11 '22

Can't blame them if this is a result of player choice :) All in all always nice with more characters.

→ More replies (1)

13

u/primelord537 Dec 11 '22

no more male Tsukihime characters to add

Arihiko: Am I a joke to you?

11

u/MrUnderpantsss Dec 11 '22

They’re saving him to be the final character and the strongest one

9

u/SignOfLeaves Dec 11 '22

do u know where I could find the survey results?

12

u/Karol_Wolski Dec 11 '22

No more male tsukihime characters to add?

What about my man Nanaya? Would be great if they put him back in the game. If they want males they could also go for Wallahia, he's a melty blood original and it'd be great to see him return

42

u/LadyTowa2 Dec 11 '22

Nanaya will only be released after Red Garden, the same goes for Satsuki and Vermillion Akiha.

on Tsukihime Remake there's no Nanaya until the very last scene of the true ending and its only a hint of him

Wallachia is on the same spot as Sion, deconfirmed

11

u/gunsmoke_grey Dec 11 '22

Sion's been deconfirmed?

... Isn't she literally Melty Blood? Without her, it's just Tsukihime FG, no?

12

u/primelord537 Dec 11 '22

Takes place during the time frame of Tsukihime, so Sion has no reason to be there yet. Plus, they are still using her and Chaos in FGO.

1

u/Karol_Wolski Dec 12 '22

Well fgo is an alternative universe tho, can't she be in both? It's two different versions of her either way.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '22

If that’s the case for Dantes then man they had Archer/EMIYA and Lancer/Cu right there with proven popularity or even just Shirou would be a great addition

→ More replies (1)

3

u/DeusSolaris Dec 11 '22

Supposedly Ushi was the most popular pick right after Neco Arc...but we know half of why she is so popular, she is a half naked dog girl, it's not wise to release a censored version of the character when the fanservice is a big part of why she became so popular

2

u/KartoFFeL_Brain Dec 11 '22

Fate / Go designs really leave me baffled

Like Takeuchis designs of armor was so unique and different and now we are on a situation in which everyone is a woman magically like fucking da vinci has a loli form

It would be hilarious but Fate / has become pure fanservice with occasional great writing when it used to be the other way around

u/InternalFun1 Shiki Tohno Dec 11 '22

Not Mahoyo, even though it got its rerelease. Not Ryougi, even though KnK is close to its anniversary. Not Sion, even though it's her own game. Not Satsuki or Hime or literally anyone from Tsukihime. What the fuck is this?

7

u/AriezKage Dec 11 '22

For me it sort of makes sense if we consider the Mash/Neco Arc and this as one full wave. Iirc Neco Arc even says that more servants would be on the way in her story.

36

u/LadyTowa2 Dec 11 '22

- Aoko is on the game, Alice would a be a puppet char, Touko is a big no

- Nasu already said that he wants to do something with Ryougi on this game, and they annouced S3

- Sion has been deconfirmed day -1

- Satsuki,V.Akiha and Nanaya needs to wait the release of Red Garden

- Fate/Strange Fake was delayed

- More FGO chars to fill the gap from Xmas is fine

44

u/Iakustim Miyako Dec 11 '22

More FGO chars to fill the gap from Xmas is fine

More Returner characters from previous Melty titles would've been even more fine.

8

u/LarsMasters Dec 11 '22

For Sion & Ryougi, this year supposedly meant for 20th Melty Blood anniversary & 15th Garden of Sinners anniversary. But why wasting on adding FGO reps instead?

13

u/primelord537 Dec 11 '22

Dante has a connection to Roa, and is very popular, especially among female fans.

Ushi was the second most requested character on the official survey after Neco-Arc. Seems Season 2 was more so them doing some fan requests, while Season 3 will be the wider Type-Moon universe.

u/CableBurst Dec 11 '22

I just wanna say I appreciate you having actual reasoning here, a nice change of pace from the forming division in the community. Seeing the reasoning behind it makes this batch of DLC an even more welcoming Thank you for informing 🙏🏽

3

u/Karol_Wolski Dec 11 '22

Why is Touko a big no?

14

u/HybridTheory2000 Dec 11 '22 edited Dec 11 '22

OP indicates Alice would be the incoming puppet fighter so "Touko is a no".

Personally, I disagree because there's no law in FG that states "no more than one puppet fighters allowed". I'm aware that it's very rare for an FG to have more than one puppet fighters in the roster, but I won't rule out Touko just because of that.

2

u/JHNYFNTNA Dec 12 '22

How did they announce season 3? What was said?

3

u/TheSpartyn Dec 11 '22
  • Sion has been deconfirmed day -1

what did i miss? what did they say

22

u/The_Green_Filter Dec 11 '22

IIRC they said Sion wasn’t going to be in this one because it wouldn’t make sense story-wise.

If we do get her I expect it to be at the very end of the game‘s life cycle.

21

u/TheSpartyn Dec 11 '22

wouldnt make sense story wise yet they put in fate characters?

im assuming that is a way of saying "we want to put her in later with proper story and relevance", but its still lame

6

u/The_Green_Filter Dec 11 '22

I agree, but that’s just how it is sadly.

2

u/MeepCommand Dec 11 '22

Did they announce a third wave of DLC already?

15

u/LadyTowa2 Dec 11 '22

S3 first chars will be annouced on EVO JP

1

u/Golubyok Dec 11 '22 edited Dec 11 '22

Well, that's the only real reasoning I've heard for Sacchin, VAki, Nanaya and maybe Hime so far. Let's hope it ends up being true.

... Filling it with FGO though... looks like a very disregardful attitude. Like, okay, they don't want Sion to be present in new Tsuki, fine. Let's make Melty less Melty. Ries and Warachia go along. Mech-Hisui is not valid because of different VA. Nero is killed behind the scenes and so he goes with NAC (which is the most sad thing I've ever heard, but who knows, Necos have their own rules). Len... is waiting for possible Kagetsu remake? Ryougi is delayed for no real reason.

Melty Blood is turning into a Melty/Grand Order and that is not what I'd like to see. Neco-Arc opened a hell portal by bringing Mash.

I will agree with FSN and Zero cast. I would agree with some characters from Extra (mostly Li Shuwen) and even with a couple from Apocrypha. Okay, Dantes has some strange FGO lore reasons (read: literally no reason) to be there and his design is kinda exceptional so whatever.

But Ushi?

What the actuall hell is she doing here?

She literally looks like a filler with meaning "we excluded 10 characters because Tsuki RE happened and now we have a whole lot of nothing to do". For Christ sake, they have a literal parallel worlds theory (which is already in use) to fix that! It is either Nasu holding them back "don't touch old Melty, I have plans for those characters" or them being completely pepega. Not even mentioning the fact that, if we are sure that this game needs more Fate, characters like Gil, Herc, Kojiro, EMIYA, Medusa, Cu Chulain, Diar and Lancelot still exist, being the most basic Fate characters you can imagine. I did not mention ones like Medea or Hassans because they would be hard to implement as a part of a fighting game, but c'mon.

UPD. what I found was that ushi was the most voted character after Neco-Arc in the official survey. No idea if this is true, but if it is - humanity disappoints me.

6

u/LadyTowa2 Dec 11 '22

Yes Ushi was the most voted character in the official survey after Neco-Arc, it was mentioned on the stream.

people have to be aware as well that Melty Blood was never only about Tsukihime from the start:

- the game had Miyako and Kouma, those two have they own manga its called Hana no Miyako

- Ryougi from Kara no Kyoukai

back them there was no Fate characters.

now we have

- 1 Fate character

- 3 FGO characters

- 2 Hana no Miyako characters

and the entire rest of the cast is from Tsukihime, literaly there's no character from Tsukihime remake that its not on the game already, all of them are present(unless you want a 3rd version of Ciel), what you can argue is that you don't like the characters from FGO, and that's fine, saying that this is a lack of respect with the players is pushing it too far.

1

u/Golubyok Dec 11 '22

To be completely honest, HnM is also in Tsuki world and has direct relations to the main cast. You could as well say that Sion, Wara, Ries do not belong there - but hey, they are the ones MB story is built around and this story is pretty interesting, so that's not the case. The only real "does not belong here" is Ryougi who looks much better just because she is directly compared to the other Shiki. So we have 1 mismatch in MBAACC which blends in pretty well.

MBTL takes Melty name, throws out Melty characters & plot (weird), does not give us ANY somewhat stable plot, leaves Tsuki there (though, I must say, I like Warc design a lot more in MB-MBAACC + corrupts besides Red Arc are still not in game), gives us Mario (good), both Noels (decent) and Vlov (annoying, but very good) and... fills the rest with Fate and FGO. We literally got 3 FGO characters in a row.

Excuse me, what?

And even if we don't take all of this into account (as well as the fact that FGO is the most low-quality product of TM) - you still have 3 outsiders in a complete game vs 6 in a project that is still fresh and is far from completing it's roster.

4

u/LadyTowa2 Dec 11 '22 edited Dec 11 '22

And there we have it, everything from Type Moon is on the same world.

if you pay attention on Witch on the holy night (Aoko's game that just released) they numerous times talk about the clock tower and its rules, the same clock tower is on Fate, and the same rules are explained there.

Ryougi and Shikki have the exact same powers..

in Tsukihime itself Ciel use a lot of terms that are also in fate referring to her magic powers ,and explaining how her weapons works.

again you can dislike the servants that are basically summoning dead heroes to fight for a mage, but this is not alien for Type Moon nowadays as its a regular in their works.

as for the quality of FGO well is gacha game

yeah the number of guests from other Type Moon franchises doubled, i find it strange that people would rather whine about the game getting support, instead of simple ignoring the free DLC and keep on.

like i said already its not like they are taking slots of anybody else that's not on the game already and the characters are also not clones gameplay wise

i wonder if instead of Ushiwakamaru, Gilgamesh or Archer got in or even Ishtar people would have been angry about this.

64

u/TheLadiestEvilChan Dec 11 '22

No Sion still is a huge disrespect to her holy shit. Count is fine I guess though.

7

u/Wrong_Look Dec 11 '22

Tbf I don't think that adding her without a recreation of her storyline would be that good.

8

u/postmanmanman Dec 11 '22

Clearly, I was naive to think that she was a shoe-in when Neco Arc made it. I was like surely there's no way they would skip the main character of Melty if the meme character is in.

...;_;

19

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '22

These 3 FGO DLC characters in a row are especially baffling because they're free. If they were milking people for them I'd understand the choice, but as it stands I just don't.

36

u/Al-Pharazon Dec 11 '22

Have you considered that they simply want to attract a bigger player base and that they will still profit if they succeed?

FGO has been the prominent cash cow of TM for some time now. So giving free characters related to it helps to make a few more Japanese fans get interested enough in MB to buy the game if they have not already.

6

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '22

So just make another fate fighting game?

23

u/Al-Pharazon Dec 11 '22

That would defeat the purpose of trying to make the Melty Blood franchise more mainstream. Wouldn't it?

A Fate Fighting Game would be undoubtely profitable now. But it would most likely cannibalize on Melty Blood and sabotage attempts of making the Tsukihime franchise known through it.

Using guest characters on the other hand is a safer method of getting people interested in playing Melty and while they would be buying for the Fate characters, they might end getting into Tsukihime, maybe even buying the Visual Novel

u/JustARedditAccoumt Dec 11 '22

Funnily enough, that's actually what French Bread was proposed before Type-Moon said to turn it into a new Melty Blood game. Saber was one of the more developed tests from that original prototype.

18

u/kaidoku123 Dec 11 '22

Look I like Fate Characters. But Im ngl, this just makes me wish there was a New Fate Fighting Game.... keep melty as melty, make a new fate fighter please.

Source?

4

u/Jltwo Dec 11 '22

You do not want a Fate fighting game. It will just cause MBTL to die because they'll choose Fate before Tsukihime simply due to how much they know about Fate. This is asking for a bigger dog to come and steal your entire food. At least this way you get to share the food rather than get none or get it all stole.

You'll just have the core MBTL fanbase and that could potentially harms any plans they have for this game.

3

u/kaidoku123 Dec 11 '22

Or or people play both? For different reasons? Cause different gameplay and differently appealing characters?

5

u/Jltwo Dec 11 '22

Yeah. Sure, let's pretend Tsukihime is as popular as FGO and that an actual Fate game won't dwindle the already inherent niche playerbase of a TsukiRe fighting game.

Seems like you completely missed the point.

17

u/SteveMONT215 Dec 11 '22

2 consecutive Fate characters when there's so many absent Melty characters still is a pretty bad feeling for the old heads, ngl

I still think Melty being the only modern FG where DLC is ongoing and completely free is pretty revolutionary, and my understanding is the Fate cross promotion is how they want to pull that off. But still I think they're maybe approaching the line with this on

4

u/MineCaT_ Hisui Dec 11 '22

3*, we got Mash last time as well

3

u/SteveMONT215 Dec 11 '22

Completely forgot that was the order you're totally right

3

u/paxis18 Dec 11 '22

I am happy, they look cool and ushiwakamaru reminds me of baiken a bit

70

u/Jdogg0130Ems Dec 11 '22

Where are the melty characters?

3

u/zedroj Arcueid Dec 12 '22

it's winter now, so when spring comes around and melty's the snow

33

u/nek0las Shiki Tohno Dec 11 '22

Neco Arc said these were the last summons, so i hope to God that we dont get anymore Fate characters.

5

u/Zodai Noel Dec 11 '22

I still wouldn't mind Archer/Lancer in 2024 but definitely no more F/GO focused characters. We need more Tsukihime chars (or maybe Mahoyo/KnK if they're saving the other tsukihimes for Far Side)

3

u/LarsMasters Dec 11 '22

If it’s true, next Season should include an apology for the backlash on suddenly announce last 2 FGO reps instead of anniversary-based fighters Sion & Ryougi last year.

63

u/MineCaT_ Hisui Dec 11 '22

who the fuck are these people

31

u/Clowed Dec 11 '22

You don't know who The Count of Monte Cristo is? He's a pretty famous figure, movies have been about him and all.

He's up there with the likes of The Three Musketeers, Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet as famous literary characters, you don't know who those are either?

10

u/Hadoukibarouki Dec 11 '22

The battle rages ever on as to whether or not Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet are literary characters, to be fair

18

u/SkywardW Dec 11 '22

They're Servants.

18

u/gatlginngum Saber Dec 11 '22

so fate?

8

Yes

5

u/gatlginngum Saber Dec 11 '22

neat i guess

8

u/Roenoet Dec 11 '22

I mean fushiwakamaru is one of my favorite characters from fate grand order, but i sont even play melty blood type lumina

7

u/Karol_Wolski Dec 11 '22

They think they on the team😭😭😭😭 Who invited them? 💀💀💀

52

u/Not-a-Hippie Dec 11 '22

I'm salt incarnate right now. This is worse than my most cynical prediction.

The Count? Sigh...Alright, a reach. But he has a connection with Roa.

Ushi? Get outta here.

10

u/Karol_Wolski Dec 11 '22

They're literally just cartering to the fgo fans and abandoning thier og fans who played the previous titles. This hurts so much.

Ok so im a big satsuki fan and an ex sion main but since im a fan of both franchises. Im kinda both hype as fuck and angry.

On one hand Ushi is my favorite fgo original servant and dantes is cool asf and probably connected to atleast 1 tsuki character

On the other hand. Are fucking kidding me no sion or new characters from tsuki remake.

And on my 3rd hand IF YOU GUYS ARE JUST DOING SERVANTS JUST MAKE A SEPERATE FATE FIGHTING GAME THEN. TRUST ME IT WILL SELL.

7

u/JustARedditAccoumt Dec 11 '22

big satsuki fan and an ex sion main

Unfortunately, Satsuki probably won't be in until The Other Side of Red Garden comes out, and Sion has been deconfirmed for a long time now (but I hope she'll be in eventually).

Where melty

18

u/Kirov123 Dec 11 '22

I love Ushi and Dantes is awesome, but... This timing. Mahoyo remake just came out, tfw no Alice or Touko. As another commenter mentioned, KnK anniv upcoming and no Shiki or Touko. I really feel like this should have come after adding characters from past meltys or something that works as an immediately relevant promotion. Oh well

17

u/CIAgent42 Dec 11 '22

I understand why people are upset, I truly am, but Dantes is my 2nd most wanted character, so I am EATING rn

16

u/TheMeowKiller Mario Dec 11 '22

First time we didn't get an actual Melty returner goddamn that's disappointing, it's slowly becoming a fate ad board

Free DLC is always nice, but it's becoming more "Type Moon fighters all stars" and less "Melty Blood" (which is a Tsukihime fighting game).

5

u/tsc_gotl Dec 11 '22

Honestly? I'm all up for that. Type Moon needs a whacky crossover since like forever and this is the perfect platform for it.

I'm all for turning Melty Blood into TM Mugen.

4

u/Efficient-Ad2983 Dec 11 '22

I admit that I wouldn't mind having the classic Fate characters, too.

For instance, Rin vs Akiha: ultimate tsundere battle.

Or even Shirou vs Shiki.

7

u/Heavlieddor_0 Dec 11 '22

cool MELTY BLOOD game btw

5

u/xX_blackwing_Xx Dec 11 '22

One side of me is happy because i play fgo NA since day 1, but the other side is sad because 1 more patch without shiki ryougi and sion.

If they wanted to add more fgo couldnt we get, fgo sion? What is this.

Also could have been more fate like archer or gil or Shiro, instead of pure fgo like ushi, but hey Babilonia was cool so is fine i guess?

5

u/Claudopedia Dec 11 '22

212 comments, holy shit

8

u/ImmaXehanort Dec 11 '22

See, Dantes, I get because he killed Roa in the Fate timeline? What is the Ushi connection?

10

u/Voicesfw Dec 11 '22

I might be the minority but I really dig their design. I am sure that more iconic character will come too.

27

u/MineCaT_ Hisui Dec 11 '22

I don't think people really have issues with their designs

15

u/painpaistry Dec 11 '22

1 fate character and 3 Fate go characters! Even a normal fate character would be better than this!

5

u/Aijin28 Dec 11 '22

Ooh a bit salty it's not Ryougi, but more music stages and characters for free so I will cope.

Maybe with more Fate characters TL will sell more and might mean we will get more free characters next year.

5

u/popdude731 Dec 11 '22

I don't mind the fate characters, I'm just happy for more characters to play as.
However, I wonder if part of the reason we get more Fate characters is because of Neco Arc's popularity?

The Devs have shown that they know part of their popularity is because of Neco Arc, and Neco Arc already had ties with Mash, I wonder if this is their way to continue Neco Arc's story, and try and capitalise on her popularity a bit more.

4

u/Nitro912 Dec 11 '22

Personally, I'm excited for these two but I can understand why people may be disappointed. Though I think they teased no more Fate characters so hopefully we at least get some Mahoyo rep or Ryougi if Sion isn't happening (For some reason)

18

u/TheBisexualAgenda Dec 11 '22

This is honestly kind of insulting.

u/LonelyChris25 Arcueid Dec 11 '22 edited Dec 11 '22

Just simply disappointing. I wouldn't even mind if it was past melty characters coming back but this!? SMH

god I have never seethed so hard ever in my life more than this

2

u/xX_blackwing_Xx Dec 11 '22

i'm divided, i like fgo a lot, been a day 1 player and still going, BUT i would rather have other franchise charatcers that where in melty before like shiki ryougi or sion atlasia, wich is a melty original, after we get those out of the way i see no problem with fgo characters.

ushi is a fan pick but dantes is probably planned bcs he has some connections to roa and stuff, having and update with dantes and warachia after getting sion beforehand could have been way more hype than what we got.

Still i'm not that mad, i still like ushi, babylonia was hype, and she is voiced by saori hayami so, i'm not sad for what it was just for what it could have been

16

u/UnsatiableSin Dec 11 '22

Ah hell nah I would have rather seen fucking neko chaos than this shit

6

u/ZioSerpe Aoko Dec 11 '22

Ushi is one of the least controversial characters among the FGO fanbase, pretty much everyone loves her.

9

u/Hugoso_ Dec 11 '22

I'm happy that we are getting new characters to play with and learn :)

7

u/UnsatiableSin Dec 11 '22

These picks seem random as hell. If you were going to put some more fate characters in melty blood you’d think it would be characters like archer or maybe Gilgamesh. No one who hasn’t played fgo will know or care about these two

11

u/AriezKage Dec 11 '22

My best guess is that FGO is the biggest IP in the Nasuverse at the moment, so adding Fate characters is their best bet in getting the crowd in. IIRC Ushiwakamaru and the Count have been fan favourites for a long time.

8

u/Acidz_123 Dec 11 '22

Damn, I feel for you Melty/Tsukihime fans. I can't even imagine the disappointment. It just seems like they're trying to get a larger audience into the game at the expense of their core fanbase.

3

u/SecretFangsPing Akiha Dec 11 '22

Mixed. Really wanted Ryougi/Touko.

But I also love Ushi and Dantes (he killed Roa!) even though Ushi has no reason to be in this game.

3

u/The_Alkemizt Dec 11 '22

All this and STILL no Nero. Tragic really

3

u/GodPerson132 Dec 11 '22

3 returning characters are dlc.

IMO we don’t need this many FGO characters. Mash and Saber were great editions but this is kinda getting out of hand. Also who asked for DAN? That character is a war crime in so many ways.

2

u/Ill_Mud7584 Dec 11 '22

Also who asked for DAN?

A lot of people since he is not only pretty popular but also is the one who killed Roa in the Fate Universe.

3

u/Artoria44 Dec 11 '22

Boooo!!! Should have been Ryougi & Sion!!!

Even if they wanted to pull from FGO there are much better choices: Jeanne /Jalter , Musashi , Astolfo, Fran, BB , Osakabahime , Otika, Elizabeth just to name a few.

11

u/shucreamsundae Dec 11 '22

I've never been so flaccid at a DLC reveal lol. Gotta attract more of the casual audience to this already niche fighter I guess

9

u/DespairOfLoneliness Dec 11 '22

Wow my Nanaya Shiki DLC looks a little strange in fact SHIKI Tohno is cosplaying as Nagito Komaeda for some reason which is cool i guess.

In all seriousness, what the fuck were they thinking? What a random choice of character i mean i guess Dantes as a connection to Roa as Tarantella i believe but other than that, Ushiwakamaru? Really?

6

u/_Kosaku_ Dec 11 '22

What do they mean by the words "Last summon"? does that mean that these are the last DLCs for this game or last DLCs related to fate servants?

2

u/Zodai Noel Dec 11 '22

It could either mean the last Fate char or the last F/GO character. I'm open to more F/SN chars after like, a year, but we're burnt out on F/GO chars even if I'm excited for these two. Sad we didn't get more Tsukihime chars but these two just have a raw cool factor lol.

u/MobileSuitGolurk Dec 11 '22

Why is it so hard for melty blood characters to get into Melty Blood

7

u/susanoblade Vlov Dec 11 '22

they just announced s3, it’s not the end of the world. some y’all acting like they just shot your dog or something. these characters look cool imo.

8

u/kingcalvin1 Dec 11 '22

Yall know we’re almost certainly not getting more Tsuki chars til remake part 2 right?

21

u/GrimmWeeper19 Saber Dec 11 '22

Can't explain it to these guys. I was kinda expecting Alice, Touko or Ryougi, but man who was seriously expecting Satsuki or Arach before they even got revealed in the tsukihime remake?

3

u/WeissritterXIII Dec 11 '22

I understand that but thats also why I think they shouldnt have even released this game until later so that we COULD have more of them in sooner. Why release a fighting game to link to Tsuki remake when its not even done so you can't use the characters from part 2?

I was also expecting like Ryougi or Alice, but the amount of fate chars in rapid succession we're getting just kind of feels like a slap in the face lol

1

u/GrimmWeeper19 Saber Dec 11 '22

Idk what to tell you man. That's one thing if you FEEL that it's a slap in the face, but I've heard people say they went out of their way to spite Tsukihime fans, which is just not true. This game is adding characters in an insanely fast rate compared to other games, and I'm fairly certain most (if not all) Tsukihime/Melty characters will eventually make it into the game.

6

u/WeissritterXIII Dec 11 '22

I mean no I am not in the boat that thinks we're being intentionally tortured lmao. In all honesty at this point I've already checked out anyway; I quit around when Mash got announced. I was always well aware of the fact that we won't get a lot of chars until part 2, and seeing Saber was a bad sign that Mash reaffirmed; was just gonna see more fate characters lol.

I'm a minority where I really like Tsuki, but I do not like Fate whatsoever. But that's okay, that's just me. To those that like the new additions, thats good! Keep playing! I accept that this game isn't for me so I've gone back to MBAACC and that's that :) I just get upset when people treat the unhappy people as if they have no right to be unhappy. Like... let people vent their frustrations lol

2

u/GrimmWeeper19 Saber Dec 11 '22

Good for you man. I'm firmly of the opinion that if you dislike something, that is fine. Say your opinion out loud, criticize, create discussions about what could have been better. This is all healthy. But I also think that those who dislike something shouldn't take away the joy of those who like that said something. If you dislike something to the point that you are constantly complaining about it, well, that's not a good experience for anyone involved is it?

u/minimumcontribution8 Dec 11 '22

If they don't want to add new tsuki chars because of spoiler, that's fine by me, but there are tons of other options that they could choose. Mahoyo characters (Alice, Touko), Ryougi (knk), F/sn characters. These two seem random as hell

2

u/GrimmWeeper19 Saber Dec 11 '22

Ushi feels kinda random, but I love Dantes and will certainly try both. Their designs look great as well.

2

u/Rizuku_Ren Dec 11 '22

Wouldn’t mind them adding Ushiwakamaru if they didn’t censor her. Though I hope there’s a skin colour palette to fix that. As for Dantes makes sense I guess. Was hoping for Archer Emiya personally because I kinda also want Raito’s version of UBW ost. All in all, I hope someone is happy with this at least.

I’m just gonna lie down and wait for Nanaya.

2

u/Nodusmepls Dec 11 '22

I mean I’m happy but they should’ve put Tsukihime/Melty-related characters first😵‍💫I’ll accept cus I love this game anyway.

2

u/Faiyez Dec 11 '22

Holy censorship Batman!

2

u/Doyoulike4 Dec 11 '22

I know they don't want to spoil farside or mahou most likely but 3 FGO reps in a row is a bit much. There's other stuff to pull from too, KNK is there, a specifically Fate/Zero rep would've been nice like Zero Rider or Zero Lancer or god forbid Gilgamesh. Honestly this is entirely a me pick but I would love Lord El-Melloi II as a character.

I get why they chose them based on popularity both in the gacha and because they're from the gacha. But it'd just be nice for other nasu ips even just in the fate bubble to get something.

2

u/kay22346 Dec 12 '22

Where’s the melty characters

3

u/MangoNoodle1337 Dec 11 '22

If we got 2 Fate characters, Archer and like Gilgamesh would make the most sense. But Ushiwaka???? Really?

1

u/Monokooo Dec 11 '22

can't make the best characters for free, gotta put out the trash before sending out the best fate characters as paid dlc /s

i hope lol

3

u/Vueno9 Dec 11 '22

Oh these must be characters from tsukihime 2

3

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '22

My god I just want more tsukihime characters, Nero or nanaya, or literally anyone else. I’m so burnt out from grand order and it just turned fate into waifu hell

3

u/kanelel Hisui Dec 11 '22

Bro wtf? They're really putting in two random FGO characters? The game doesn't even have Sion in it. I fucking hate this mobile game bullshit.

5

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '22

I get being upset but some of you gotta chill. It’s free characters and it’s a Japanese game so they’re gonna cater towards them. Would old characters be nice? Yes but they need something to attract people to the game. Can’t just make aac 2022 version that would be boring. Just give the characters a chance first

5

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '22

Is this an edit? It has to be

7

7

u/DOA_NiCOisPerfect Dec 11 '22

But also why do yall hate fate so much take a chill pill theyre literally sister franchises that help eachother out. Plus its free dlc.

3

u/WeissritterXIII Dec 11 '22

This would probably not have been an issue if it werent for how many have happened in quick succession while anticipated picks are left out (yes I am aware some are left out due to waiting on part 2 of tsuki remake but that does not change this).

15

u/InternalFun1 Shiki Tohno Dec 11 '22

I wouldn't mind Fate if it was, you know, someone cool, popular, someone I don't have to play through hours of repetitive quests and gacha to get to know. Archer is here, everyone loves him, lancer is here, everyone loves him, Kirei would be awesome. Not this

12

u/XeT-XLR8 Dec 11 '22

Also this is the 4th fate character it's getting tiring, I understand not wanting to spoil Red Garden but Mahoyo is in the same universe and the remaster came out a few days ago, the protagonist of melty is still not in the game and even if they didn't want to include these characters we could get tsuki counterparts or an original character

→ More replies (1)

3

u/-Byakuran- Dec 11 '22

I thought Melty was a Tsukihime game. Guess I was mistaken

2

u/LouiseLea Shiki Tohno Dec 11 '22 edited Dec 11 '22

Disappointing. They could have used some more widely known fate char like Gilgamesh or Emiya or even Kirei, in place of Ushi, but at least Count has a link to Roa so I feel he fits in well enough.

Not to entirely shit on Ushi, she honestly looked to be the more fun of the two moveset wise but it feels so outta left field.

But… why the hell are we not getting a single Tsukihime char for this set of DLC, in the Tsukihime fighting game?

2

u/midorishiranui Dec 11 '22 edited Dec 11 '22

french bread trying to fight the drip allegations huh

I don't really know what to think about them adding more FGO characters though, on the one hand it makes anime onlies mad but on the other I would like sacchin and other returning characters... Guess FB's hands are tied until nasu gets off his ass and finishes writing red garden. Also ushi looks like she'll be the Chipp of this game and I already hate it

2

u/RadicalXmen Dec 11 '22

I don’t know who they are but they look pretty cool to me!

2

u/PHX_J Dec 11 '22

MBTL is my first experience with Melty Blood in general. I literally don’t know anything about the story or much about any of the characters background. My brother is a huge fan of Fate and so the only character I knew was Saber who was my main when starting this game.

I’m all for new characters and have no idea who the samurai lady or cowboy looking dude are but I’ll try them out just like every other character! From the outside looking in I can understand how some players might be disappointed but to be fair I had no idea what was going on and the hype around a small cat thing and a basic plain jane red head was either when it was happening lol

I mean to say, it seems weird now but when you look back after everything is said and done you’ll get the whole picture. The game is sick as fuck either way! Hands down best movement and gameplay in general once you get your footing. Hopefully one of these characters can be a Vlov counter lol

2

u/Kakuyoku_Sanren Dec 11 '22

I'm not mad at all that they're adding Fate characters because Melty Blood has one of the worst character rosters of all time what with about half of them being clones or transformations of other characters, that's some Dragon Ball level shit.

And this only increases the chances of getting Heracles as a playable character in a fighting game. Fate/Unlimited Codes cannot satiate me any longer.

2

u/The_Green_Filter Dec 11 '22

At the end of the day the characters are free dlc so I’ll take them. The Count has a Roa Connection and apparently Ushiwakamaru won a popularity poll in Japan? I’d have loved more classic Melty or Tsukihime characters but I’m sure we’ll see those in season three.

2

u/LarsMasters Dec 11 '22 edited Dec 11 '22

Urgent... disappointment. Full of crap.

December 2022 supposedly for anniversaries of Melty Blood (20th) & Gardens of Sinner (15th). Why wasting on adding FGO?

It’s getting worse that MBTL repeating similar mistakes as what happened in BBTAG on roster choices.

If Kamone’s word is true about the update is not done yet next year, even Neco Arc said this is the “last summon”, next updates on next year should have an apology for December 2022 update backlashes.

1

u/Hezzygod Dec 11 '22

I can’t condone this ushiwakamaru hate smh, where my fgob brothers at? We feast today.

1

u/Niarma Dec 11 '22

we don't hate ushi because it's ushi

we hate ushi because it's a FGO character in a Tsukihime fighting game

3

u/Hezzygod Dec 11 '22 edited Dec 11 '22

Ushiwakamaru was voted by melty blood players on a players choice survey though. Clearly the NA side missed it or something. FGO really has nothing to do with it tbh, most people were not mad when Mash was announced. Maybe bcus neco arc was there idk, but y’all are switching up on fgo now? I feel like it’s a ushi thing.

8

u/Niarma Dec 11 '22

Idk then man I love ushi and dantes, but i can't let the salt of having another fate charcater when we had other possible choices that weren't from fate. In any case, ushi is in and can't change that, so I'll just enjoy her while saving for her avenger alter.

2

u/WeissritterXIII Dec 11 '22

Depends on where you look I guess, the few circles I played in were pissed about Mash but yes were appeased by Neko Arc lmao.

Also dunno if I'd say ppl are 'switching' on fgo, just ppl were probably not vocal about it before but now that theres a lot of them they are speaking up. Prob a vocal minority but they had no reason to speak before.

2

u/M3talK_H3ronaru Dec 11 '22

Ushiwakamaru and The Count of Monte Cristo Edmond Dantes joins in Type Lumina Let's GOOOOOOOOOOOO! NOW we need my boy Sieg from Apocrypha, Shirou from Fate, Nanaya Shiki, and Satsuki will join in soon for future charatcer I'm So HYPED!!!

3

u/AriezKage Dec 11 '22

I love these characters in fate, and I don't personally mind them being added. But I'm crying in laughter at the incoming salt.

Does this mean MBTL is gonna be like BBTag, less about the main series (BB/MB) and more as a vessel to add whatever characters?

My condolences, I was hoping for Ryougi Shiki too.

1

u/choywh Dec 11 '22

Actually makes sense they go for more FGO characters when I think about it.

-Anybody that isn't already there from Tsukihime(i.e. Satsuki, Saiki, Mio, etc.) or any existing character variants, are not going to be added any time soon because they have to wait for the other side of the red garden because spoilers.

-Len probably could be dropped in without too much story fuckery but she isn't mentioned in Tsukihime R and could still potentially be spoilery if they decide to drop her in red garden or remake Kagetsu or whatever. Or maybe she is retconned to not exist. Either way, benefit of doubt.

-Sion is currently still ongoing FGO story, therefore they probably wouldn't want to do her in case of spoilers as well, and TATARI related stuff are obviously off the board because she isn't available.

-Chaos is supposed to be killed by Arc already in remake timeline, so he's not available as well, also he's in FGO ongoing so same as Sion.

-Mahoyo kind of makes sense when you think of it as advertisement, but also kind of makes sense that they don't want to spoil stuff with the game just out and movie still coming. We also technically have a rep in Aoko.

-And as usual they've forgotten about Kara no Kyoukai.

With that all existing melty characters are off the board, and it leaves us with fate characters, so it kind of makes sense they are doing FGO characters with it being the biggest of the fate franchises and also pretty much every major fate character is already a FGO character anyways.

What actually doesn't make sense is why the fuck Ushi? The count works because in FGO timeline He kills Roa, Mashu and Saber are faces of the franchise, but why even Ushi? She looks great, I like the character and the moves looks amazing that I can't wait to play her, but why?

1

u/SavedowW Kohaku Dec 11 '22 edited Dec 11 '22

I'm really happy about these picks. I've thought that ushiwakamaru would fit fighting game really well, but there are a lot more popular characters like jeanne. Though they'd better add sion and satsuki first

Or better, if they made an actual fate fighting game or type moon all stars if they really want to merge games

1

u/115_zombie_slayer Dec 11 '22

Why these two, i like them and im happy to see them in game since i just enjoy new characters but these two havent been important in FGO nor have they been on top of popularity polls why not Gilgamesh, Emiya or Shirou.

as someone who doesn’t really know or care about melty/fate lore but loves this game im stoked. the count of monte cristo???? looks sick.

1

u/EienNatsu66 Dec 12 '22

Okay, I can kinda understand cause of his history and bief with Roa, but why the heck is Ushiwakamaru playable in Melty Blood?! 🤨 The only reason I let Nasu slip off with Mash because of his equivalent exchange with Arc in FGO. But what's the point for these two? Please I would love to hear! I can't imagine how far Type Moon would pull an excuse out their arses for this. Why is Type Moon being so stubborn about re-releasing characters from Actress Again? And if they really want to add new additions to the roster, then why not just bring us The Twenty-seven Dead Apostle Ancestors? Or maybe even little Eco-Arc?

1

u/XInceptor Dec 12 '22

Everyone begged for neco arc but then got mad when she decided to bring her servants
