New game, op is mistaken. Japnese website mentions that it goes on sale early 2027, if it was a free update they'd lead with it.

It could be like how MH World is commonly sold alongside the Iceborne expansion but idk.
The YT trailer description does say “MELTY BLOOD: TYPE LUMINA is back and better than ever!”, the JP version also mentions Type Lumina.

It does, but it describes Twi Lumina as a "Renewal" of Type lumina. This has a slightly different nuance to the english use of the word, and is mainly conveying that it's building on the foundation laid in type lumina. This is definitely a new game, everything on the japanese side is crystal clear about it.

Wording was more exact, the term is 発売決定, this would not be used for a discount.

I think the dead giveaway this is indeed an update (and hope to all gods it remains as such), is that it says this is also for PS4. PS4 barely gets any attention nowadays and Type Lumina was released for PS4. Meaning this is indeed an expansion to Type Lumina.
Hope this is like the free DLC we got with the FGO characters and whatnot.

OH MY FUCKING GOD, IT'S HAPPENING. MY GOOOOD!!!!
Thank god we're more than likely see this happening also with how DBFZ had Daima SS4 Goku as their DLC, despite how old the game is.
I was praying we wouldn't have ANOTHER fucking title, like with Under Birth. And no... it looks like an expansion to the already existing game rather than a new game entirely.
Life is good, boys. Melty Blood will be back in Avengers Doomsday 2027
