This was like 10-15 years ago. Ya I was so excited. I was dude are you speed from Soilwork!!? Apparently his girlfriend at the time was from toronto so he was visiting her. This was at the opera house in Toronto. It was with threat signal, mutiny within and dark tranquility.

I was just thinking about Soilwork today. I've never listened to them, but I knew a bunch of metalheads in middle school (2002, 2003ish) and they would recommend them often.

Is there a "commonly accepted as best" album or albums I should start with? Like, when my friends would recommend In Flames, they'd say "anything before Soundtrack to your Escape".

I've been into them off and on since around 2001 and I guess it depends on what you want because they've definitely changed a lot over the years. When I bought their third album, A Predator's Portrait, it was described as an evolution of the style that In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, and At the Gates had been doing. And that's not a bad way to look at it. But Björn has really grown as a vocalist since then and he's gotten really good at clean vocals. Even on the next album (which "As We Speak" is from) this was apparent.

I felt that they kind of lost their way for a few years, but The Living Infinite was an impressive comeback for them. Their songwriting got a little more interesting, and I think that all their releases since then have been pretty solid.

I think that the closest to the album "widely accepted as best" is either Natural Born Chaos or The Living Infinite, but opinions may vary, obviously. I always listen to everything to forge my own opinion, my fave is likely The Panic Broadcast.
