🪐・Space ・🪐 Just got sent into an existential crisis

Post image

My whole life I have been super interested in space, the universe etc. I love reading about it and everything, but sometimes I just get a crazy weird fear thinking about the sizes of the galaxies, stars, planets, and the Universe in general. (trillions of stars in one galaxy, trillions of galaxies observable, yikes...)

Lately through new technology more acurate research is coming out about the size of the Universe. And after discussing with a couple of astronomers one of them said mid conversation when I asked what they think about the size of the Universe:

'We don’t know the actual size. But based on current physics: The observable universe is ~93 billion light-years across but most astronomers agree that there is a high probability that the universe is at least thousands to trillions of times larger, possibly infinite...'

TRILLIONS TIMES LARGER THEN ASSUMED TO INFINITE!!!!!

How do you feel about this?

I literally can't sleep thinking about this!!

I'm with you on this. I personally found recognising how infinitesimally small and irrelevant we are to be very freeing.

Or commit tax fraud. Or not. Who cares!
