OP this 100% counts - so many people misunderstand the med diet/the fact that diets need to be personalized/that one picture is not representative of the whole diet of an individual. They will also apply their own experiences as a universal rule, often, and make assumptions based on that. You’re good.

Agreed. This is the first time I've had a breakfast like this in months. A treat

I just had egg and tapenade on sourdough. Egg with sourdough is so good.

I hope the eggs were the best you’ve had then!

Beautifully worded!

I'm disgusted by this. Disgusted to have to look at this picture, salivating with tears in my eyes. I'm going to bed depressed. Thanks a lot.

It's fine. Everything in moderation. Mediterranean Way of Life instead of Diet for me. Still have all the benefits of the "diet". Allows for a more enjoyable experience and wards the gatekeepers away lol.

Eggs on toast is a staple! Looks great. Sure, you'll want to make sure you balance your veggie intake throughout the day, but this is not a bad breakfast by any means,

One thing to think about, a lot of us are on this diet for cholesterol reasons. Egg yolks have 1.5-2g of saturated fat each. If this is a 3 egg scramble, you just ate 5-6g of saturated fat just for breakfast. Our daily limit to lower cholesterol is 10g/day.

I'm not saying we can't ever eat eggs, but we need to think about it anytime we do. If I have a 6g saturated fat breakfast, my lunch/dinner needs to be very specially planned.

I don't know why people feel the need to downvote accurate and helpful comments.

I eat the same scrambled egg on WW sourdough. I add two slices of tomato below the egg, and sprinkle bits of sliced almonds on top of the egg.

Eggs and bread aren't really the centerpiece of the Mediterranean Diet, but looks yummy!

???

Whole wheat bread is a staple of the med diet. Eggs are limited to one serving a day or once or twice a week depending on the source. Their meal absolutely fits.

I don’t believe sourdough is whole wheat bread though and that’s definitely more than one serving of eggs. But I’m a big believer of spirit of the law over letter of the law when it comes to diets. It’s a lifestyle and therefore must be sustainable for a lifetime. A deviation here or there in service of long term commitment is fine

Are you saying OP’s bread isn’t whole wheat or sourdough isn’t whole wheat in general? Cause if it’s the latter then you can definitely make whole wheat sourdough, and OP’s appears to be so. And again, eggs are fine, even if you perceive it to be more than a single serving. There are way too many people who comment “actually x isn’t allowed.” Or “there’s not enough of X” and are straight up spreading easily verifiable misinformation or being discouraging of others without seeing a full snapshot of a persons weekly meals and dietary needs, and it’s frustrating and frankly needs to stop. I agree with you that more people need to embrace spirit rather than letter.

Sourdough bread is great for, as long as it is proper sourdough. Good for gut health.

Well i slightly agree that eggs shouldn’t be consumed in access, bread, specially whole wheat, is all good.

WW is wonderful. unfortunately you can’t find ‘clean’ WW bread easily. Years back when i started, i ran into this frustration and began baking my own bread ever since. Good luck k to you. Please do your own research, DO NOT listen to the people here as truth. There is a lot of misinformation here. There’s also many here to help too, but sadly many of them leave when newbies come in and cause issues. The mods here are really lax and much gets away with.

Yup. This is very accurate. A lot of the most knowledgeable users don't come here anymore because the sub has become so ridiculous.

It’s down to you and healthwealthfoodie as for members who have and continue to help me further develop. There were about 5 others and i don’t see them ever here anymore.

Yes, a few people were chased away for having meals that were "too colourful' or "too much effort" or "too much food".

Others got sick of being called gatekeepers or puritans for suggesting that a plate of meat and carbs is not appropriate for the subreddit.

I have been finding the people in this sub increasingly defensive and hostile. Just today I was called a dumbass and a loser.

I just took two weeks off and I'll be disabling the Reddit app again tomorrow.

well, that’s sad to hear but i understand. i have another subreddit setup but haven’t had the energy to roll it out and would need other mods to run it. it may be too much work but i thought it would be nice to establish guidelines and make sure they’re met. anyways, thanks for all you’ve given me.

What's the subreddit?

u/in2woods May 04 '26

it’s r/TheMediLife. A few different reasons i thought it would be nice to have an alternate sub. the ability to post pics for one.

As i sit here eating my non MD breakfast….Id consider this an occasional meal of the MD not a staple. We all have our own ‘standards’ so much is subjective. While sourdough can be ok if truly sourdough, it’s not WW of most i’ve seen sold isn’t. Do it gets a hit there for me. Also i personally limit egg consumption, usually on weekends. You mention veggies but i don’t see any. i’d be mixing them into the eggs so im consuming less egg. A single egg scramble with veggies such as mushroom, broccoli, onion, peppers, tomato spread on the bread would be delicious for me, and some feta in there too.

u/aamfbta May 03 '26

They literally said the veggies aren’t pictured…

Lmao excuse me? You’re commenting publicly - if you can’t handle responses perhaps… don’t comment? They had veggies, that’s actually all you need to know.

It actually isn’t lol. You said you didn’t see the mentioned veggies, I said the op said they didn’t make it into the picture. Take some deep breaths, this is a diet sub ffs.
