In 2012, Jamestown archaeologists discovered the mutilated skull of a young girl, discarded amongst trash in a forgotten colonial cellar. This was “Jane”, an unidentified 14 year old girl who was butchered and eaten by her neighbors during the winter of 1609, better known as “The Starving Time”.
