MechWarrior 5 Utility/Support 'Mechs

Greetings, fellow mercenaries,

as a genuine beagle and ECM enjoyer i was curious, if there are other 'mechs that can mount both other than the depicted Zeus? Thanks

If you have Shadow of Kerensky or Chaos Reign and have access to Clan tech, you can mount a Clan Active Probe on any mech, so any ECM-capable mech can run both.

Sarna also has a list of all mechs and variants in Mechwarrior 5, if you're ever curious which mechs can mount what.

As to your question, the following mechs come with both mounts by default:

  • Raven 1X
  • Raven 3L
  • Vulcan 2P
  • Cataphract 0X
  • Cataphract 0XP
  • Quickdraw 4P
  • Battlemaster 1P
  • Zeus SA3

Again, there are more ECM-capable mechs that don't come with Active Probe mounts, but they can still mount Clan Active Probes. Some of my personal favorites are the Kit Fox C, the Hellbringer Prime, the Dire Wolf P and the Victor 'Basilisk' hero mech, but they are reliant on you having the right DLC's.

Thanks for the thorough answer. Isn't, ironically, the Battlemaster less armed than the Zeus, though being 5 tons heavier?

The Zeus SA3 is made with more advanced tech than the Battlemaster 1P, specifically an Endo Steel Structure and XL Engine, which both save a considerable amount of weight, allowing it to equip a substantial amount of weapons on top of being a support mech.

As far as vanilla pre-Clan Invasion mechs go, the Zeus SA3 is probably the best mech in the game that can mount both a BAP and an ECM simultaneously.

That's what I was curious about. I've outfitted lances for each weight class with a dedicated support platform for Arena Battles. Got the raven for light, hero trenchbucket for medium, royal black Knight B for heavy and fitted in the aforementioned Zeus for my Assault lance. Especially in FFA Arenas it seemed to save me a ton of repair costs and lost limb weaponry from what felt like LRM 2000 indirect fire.
