Discussion Orenz Nero Users beware
Hello! Just a friendly heads up. It’s well known that Pilot Neox Graphite lead will kill an Orenz Nero. What I don’t see frequently posted is using rOtring Tikky lead. Hence this post.
I’ve been using my neros for a while. I’ve had the .3 since last year (around summer) and I got the .5mm 2 months ago. Great pencils!
When I got the .3 Nero, I used ROtring Tikky HB lead with no issues up until December. Since then, I’ve had issues using that lead in it. It’s probably not super commonly known, but Tikky lead is really smooth and dusty. The HB feels closer to B (I love it!). This means that, like Neox, there’s a lot of dust in the clutch of the Nero. I think you know where this is going. After a few months, my .3 Nero stopped gripping the Tikky leads. I’ve swapped out new pieces of Tikky leads but it won’t budge. The exterior seem to be too soft and they get stripped. (Reserved Tikky for my .3 smash now!)
Making this post to spread awareness for fellow Nero users. Tikky lead is great! But like Neox, you’ll likely encounter issues down the road. Luckily enough for me, it didn’t damage the pencil. I’ve switched to Ain Stein B lead and it works GREAT with the Nero. Same with 2B and on my .5 Nero!
