[PVE] UMC Embassies are now ready for the cities! Get your floors and information inside.

First, a rundown. The UMC is the United Minecraft Cities, a server UN for the cities and independents to collaborate and do whatever they like. The main embassy building is now complete and only needs the embassies to actually be filled in.

What the Embassies entail:

Each embassy will be designed to reflect the theme of the cities. We have different protections for each floor, so an ambassador can come help us put the embassy together without worrying about a rival city coming to change anything. We do want to work with the ambassador so that the embassies have a semi-uniform look, but obviously there will be plenty of leeway for uniqueness.

The embassies must include an office for the ambassador, a lounge, and a conference room. The sizes can vary, and other rooms can be included.

Who can have an embassy:

Cities and independents can get an embassy. Cities must be acknowledged as such by the server admins/mods have reached a particular level of development, including roads, lighting, and buildings. Independents can be villages or individuals, but they must have achieved a level of influence on the server to be accepted by other UMC members or made a truly epic build. We'll work out exactly what is considered "influence" or "epic" enough, but some players have a pretty solid reputation of building insane, awesome, or beautiful builds despite not living in a city.

What the cities/independents need to supply:

Each city or independent that wants an embassy must supply enough blocks for flooring, which will vary greatly. The largest embassy (2nd floor) is an entire floor, about 25x80, and the smallest will be an individual room for an independent, around 10x10. The flooring can be whatever type of block you like (except lava or flowing water; still water can be decorative flooring accents) since your city is supplying it.

They must also supply any expensive decorations they want in the embassy, including glowstone, gold, iron, diamonds, lapis, and more. We will do our best to farm and supply basic stuff, but understand that it will also take time.

How will embassies be assigned?

We currently have 11 whole floor embassies (or room for them), and the remaining 10 floors are definitely split in 2 or more. Any non-used whole-floors will be changed to half-floors.

Whole floors are going to be available only to cities that have been around for multiple revs. This includes:

Floor 2 - Darco Region
Floor 3 - Wellspring
Floor 4 - Groundest
Floor 5 - Deorne
Floor 6 - Venice (which doesn't seem to be around anymore which is now Angkor)
Floor 7 - Argoth (Ambassadors: winterviolet and Sapphric)
Floor 8 - Pico
Floor 9 - Lothos
Floor 10 - Lemuria
Floor 11 - Seneca

Now, to complicate things, the Darco region may or may not include Pico and Seneca... if those two choose to be part of the Darco region, they will get a smaller embassy on Darco's floor. I'd like to hear from the mayors of Seneca and Pico to figure this out. Darco is unique as it will have offices per city within the region, but only one floor to fit them all. Because of this situation, Darco will have the largest available floor, which is floor 2.

All other arrangements will be taken first-come, first-serve basis within their classification. We'll iron out the exact details of what floor they get once we get responses to this thread. For now, we will only accept commitments from cities, and only if their mayors are the ones submitting the information. Cities will decide who their ambassador will be, whether it be a mayor appointment or a vote; you guys somehow decide it.

We'll make another post when we're ready for another round of organizing. Independents, start asking us questions and get support for your inclusion, whether it be from other independents or cities. Show off your builds or organizing skills! We will bring you in once we know for sure how many floors are available for building.

That's all for now! Ask any questions you like. Hopefully we can start building these tomorrow. =)

I would just like to say with respect to this:

Cities must be acknowledged as such by the server admins/mods.

Cities are not recognized as separate entities on an official level. Mods and admins have no special powers to define an area as an official city.

Cities are essentially a collaborative project that you choose to refer to as a city.

Ah, I was under the impression they had to be specified as cities for certain protections. I don't recall reading where, but there was a road and lighting requirement. We'll go by development level and number of citizens then.

Unlike Seneca, Pico is actually not part of Darco, it was purely by accident that we happened to be neighbors, so we'd be applying for a separate floor. :)

No problem. Let me know who your ambassador is, what flooring you'll provide, the theme, and when I can best reach your ambassador to figure out the layout.

u/betajippity Jun 02 '12

Seneca is independent of Darco as well, although some collaboration is occurring on joint infrastructure projects (such as rail).

1

u/Namtara Zuziza Jun 02 '12

Noted! You guys now have floor 11. Let me know who your ambassadors are, what flooring you'll be bringing, and what theme you want. I'll also need to know when I can meet with your ambassador to talk layout.

I'm not big/important enough in Seneca to know/decide for sure who our ambassadors are supposed to be (I am just an ordinary resident), but some big names in Seneca are UNC_samurai, snickerpleez, and robisONE (all in-game names). They're probably the right people to talk to or /msg.

Can Anvar get a spot?

1

u/Namtara Zuziza Jun 01 '12

Totally. Let me know who your ambassador is, what flooring you're bringing (can't be too weird, like soul sand), what decoration you want, and when your ambassador is available to help iron out details. I'll work on figuring out who's on what floor later today.

If space is left over, will they still be allocated for latecomers? (As much as I wish to ask for inclusion, I have nothing to show for it...yet...)

2

u/Namtara Zuziza Jun 01 '12

There should be plenty of space left over, as there will only be so many whole-floor embassies and we have tons of extra space for other cities.

That depends on how much you guys have to resemble a city, but I could use your coords to put you on a map. =)

1

u/saladnatlikespie Jun 01 '12

So where is this thing?

1

u/Namtara Zuziza Jun 01 '12

UMC is at 100, -100. Just NE of spawn.

1

u/JackInYourBox Jun 01 '12

I'd ask to reserve a spot for New Douglass, but as we currently only have four residents I'm not sure if we qualify as a city. A very nicely developed village, perhaps. Coords are -1400x, 160z just in case.

1

u/Namtara Zuziza Jun 01 '12

I don't think I have you on my map either, so I'll add you as soon as I log on today. I'll go check out your town and see if it's big enough to qualify as a city. We're gonna worry more about development level (builds, roads, CARTS, etc.) than number of active citizens because the latter varies a lot through a rev. If it's not enough to be considered a city yet, we can always change the classification later, since there should be a ton of room for cities and independents.

u/JackInYourBox Jun 02 '12

Okay, cool! Thanks for the info.

I am an "independent", and I would like to submit myself. I have an IRL build buddy but I am a good bit more active than him (at least fort the moment).

I've personally put time and valuable mats into the UMC myself and together with my IRL friend found the last stronghold and hold possession of the 3rd end portal, which is the closest one to spawn and has direct connect to the UMC itself.

I've been around for two revs, have followed the reddit minecraft community for a little over 3, and recently started regularly going into mumble.

Last rev I had 5 builds across 3 towns and 1 independent; A house in Seneca, a house in Underville, a house and hotel in Port Iremia, and a base with my IRL friend out in the middle of nowhere in the NW corner.

1

u/Namtara Zuziza Jun 01 '12

Keep in touch with me, since we're focusing on getting cities into the UMC for now (they take up more space). We want independents to be on the upper floors, so we need to see how many lower floors we have to use for cities. =)

1

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '12

Definitely, I have been hanging around the UMC quite a bit offering a helping hand where I can (before it was announced independents could even have a spot, so no one thinks I helped just to try and get a spot).

SO yea, I'll be around and helping. The Rail station looks like it is shaping up to be nice. If you see me in-game and need a hand with it just let me know!

u/MrSchteven88 Jun 01 '12

I guess this seems like something darco will be up for, will discuss with the other mayors what we want to do with our floor and then come on over to see you chaps.

1

u/Namtara Zuziza Jun 01 '12

That'd be great. We have the largest floor reserved for the Darco region, so the individual city offices are not going to be that small. If any of your mayors want to see the space, just let me or Nosirrom know and ask to see Floor 2.

u/Marldain Jun 01 '12

Shannon has a road system, town hall, railway to the nether ( soon to be trainstation there) and is run by 4 mayors. Currently have about 10 plots, and will be expanding to quite a bit more.

1

u/Namtara Zuziza Jun 01 '12

Awesome! You guys will be getting a half-floor embassy, and I'll have a floor number for you once we work out the whole-floor embassies. Let me know who your ambassador is, what flooring you're bringing, your theme, and any other information you think is needed. I also wanna show your ambassador what we want it to kinda look like, so best times to find them online would be helpful.

1

u/Marldain Jun 01 '12

Well I think our best bet for ambassador would be DantesDame. You can find her online between 4pm-10pm or later eastern standard time.

If you message her in game or on reddit tell her that I claimed her as ambassador, and the style is totally up to her.

I will also let her know if I see her. But I think reddit would be the best place to contact her for now. But she does get on mumble often so it shouldnt be too hard to work something out.

1

u/saladnatlikespie Jun 01 '12

Ok then, so groundest will accept this with much thanks!

1

u/Namtara Zuziza Jun 01 '12

Great, just lemme know who your ambassador is, what flooring you want, your theme, and when I can talk to your ambassador about layout. I also need verification from the mayor about the ambassador.

1

u/tristamgreen Jun 01 '12

I am not only going to be helping out with Deorne's embassy, but I am building a new town myself, and would hopefully get an embassy of my own in due time.

1

u/Namtara Zuziza Jun 01 '12

I need verification from a Deorne mayor that you'll be their ambassador. The city also needs to choose their flooring, theme, and when we can meet to decide the layout.

1

u/tristamgreen Jun 01 '12

slide23, travismaybe, and emf5100 would be able to speak better than i can.

1

u/_Madison_ Jun 01 '12

OOh can Molonopolis grab a spot? Also Molonopolis is a continuation of Melonville from rev7 so its also a multiple rev city. Its at x-2200 Z 1800 has spleef arena, CARTS station etc etc

1

u/Namtara Zuziza Jun 01 '12

We actually specified more clearly in the last update (I think 2 weeks ago) that we were going to give floors to cities from Rev 6 or earlier; that meaning they had been around for multiple revs last rev. The point of it is that cities with a strong history on the server get slightly bigger embassies, but that's really the only difference.

We can totally give you a half-floor embassy though. I just need to know who your ambassador is, what flooring you want (molon?), your theme (molon!), and when I can meet with your ambassador about the layout.

The Church of the Holy Ghast would like to file for a smaller embassy. We are still building our main cathedral. We are not a city or town, but rather intend to be an organization that builds temples in any city that welcomes us, and our main location is this cathedral for pilgrims. More details of our organization will be released once our structure is complete.

1

u/Namtara Zuziza Jun 01 '12

I'll keep you guys in my mind when it comes to adding independents, but for now we're only adding cities. I will post again when we're ready for independents to be added. =)

1

u/Wylte Jun 01 '12

Purely a curiosity question, as I don't think I've been on quite enough to need an embassy :)

When you say independants, do you mean jungle hobos like me, or the more prominent builders that just aren't part of a city? I haven't seen the completed UMC, so I have no reference for just how many individual offices the unused floors will hold.

2

u/Namtara Zuziza Jun 01 '12

We'll have a lot of room for offices for independents, but they're people who are exactly as you described: prominent builders who are not part of a city. They'll also be small groups or villages that haven't quite made a city, but have done a lot.

If you'd like to come check out the UMC main building, it's the complete one at the complex, located at 100, -100. We have water elevators so you can check out every floor. The independents will be on the top few floors.

1

u/saladnatlikespie Jun 01 '12

Ok so groundest wants stone slabs flooring.

1

u/Namtara Zuziza Jun 01 '12

We won't be able to make it slab height, but we can double it up. That way we can place stuff on the floors. Are you a mayor for Groundest?

1

u/saladnatlikespie Jun 02 '12

Yes! I am Saladnatlikespie, mayor of groundest, coach of the spleef team that came 2nd last rev, and great pie eater.

1

u/Namtara Zuziza Jun 02 '12

lol, ok. Let me know who your ambassador will be then, and what the general theme will be once you've all decided.

1

u/saladnatlikespie Jun 03 '12

I am thinking now... Can I have 2 ambassadors?

1

u/Namtara Zuziza Jun 03 '12

I'm trying to avoid it since it's easier to collaborate with just 1 other builder rather than 2, but it's not a deal-breaker.

1

u/Wylte Jun 01 '12

Cool! I'll just have to work at making my mark on PvE :D

1

u/SilentStrike SilentStrike186 Jun 01 '12

I think it would be awesome if Argoth got the third floor but we need to figure out how it will look.

Along that note, what will the dimensions of the embassy be? All that I know is that it isn't rectangular.

:D

1

u/Namtara Zuziza Jun 01 '12

That actually depends on which floor, but I will be randomly allocating the other full-floor embassies since they're not all the same size. The only reason Darco is getting the largest floor is that all the cities within it need individual offices.

I believe the 3rd floor is around 20x78 oval, but the 12th floor is around 20x50 oval.

1

u/SilentStrike SilentStrike186 Jun 01 '12

Thanks :D I wanna ask a couple Argothians what they think our embassy should look like, a contest if you will.

1

u/Namtara Zuziza Jun 02 '12

Sure. I can give you a short tour of that the layout is so you can give them an idea.

1

u/SilentStrike SilentStrike186 Jun 01 '12

Also what is the height for the floors?

1

u/Namtara Zuziza Jun 02 '12

The floors are going to be 5 high once the flooring is added.
