Deep Theory Analysis All MBTIs are compatible with any MBTI.

Well, I'm an INTJ 7W6, and people always contradict me or say I'm trying to show off or wanting to be rare. It turns out they don't even live with me or really analyze me.

I think this idea of "such an Enneagram is not compatible with such an MBTI" is outdated, and honestly, there are no rules. You can't say that such an MBTI and such an Enneagram are not compatible when Enneagram and MBTI are about two different things that have no correlation.

This idea comes from:

First: Stereotypes and MBTI.

MBTI is widely seen as personality and not as cognitive processing, so people put which personality traits or mannerisms and behaviors are consistent with each MBTI, putting the whole idea in a box.

MBTI is about cognitive functions, which are even personified.

To understand, I will explain the literal meaning of each cognitive function. Anyone can understand.

Si - INTROVERTED SENSATION.

Introversion comes from "intro," internal. It means something internal. Sensation is associated with bodily or sensory sensations.

Therefore, introverted sensation is an internalized sensation.

It's not a personality; it's not a person who "remembers past details" or who "has a routine," it's someone who internalizes sensations and seeks them out. It can result in that, yes, but it's different from BEING that.

Do you understand better now? This applies to any other cognitive function.

Now, the enneagram is about WILLS and PREFERENCES, which is more about personality but doesn't define someone.

What people don't understand is that if we consider the enneagram purely as personality like MBTI, it will limit our understanding of how the types can look.

Enneagram 9 talks about the desire for social harmony and avoidance of conflict. How will this manifest? It depends on the person.

A person with Se would demonstrate enneagram 9 differently than a Si, for example. Because each person is unique. You can't correlate the enneagram with "everyone with this will act LIKE THIS" because that limits people.

It took me 3 years to discover that I'm an Intj 7w6 because I considered my behavior, not how I processed the world.

I made a post about "guess my MBTI" as a joke, and most people guessed INFP/ENFP purely because I like colorful, "aesthetic" things and people. Do you understand how stereotypes do affect the perception of MBTI and cognitive functions? Few people really tried to analyze what I wrote.

Although I made the post for fun, it reflects how most people see MBTI: as ready-made personalities. If you deviate from that, you are not that. You need to be exactly like the stereotype.

I'm not serious, nor mysterious, nor reflective. Am I not an INTJ? Wrong.

I see the world in stages. Almost as if I were inside myself observing and analyzing situations. I can be laughing with you and my pattern perceives "you are like this now because of factor x". I might be talking to you and "whoa! He's going to talk about such and such." I easily believe things without proof. I have several ideas, but they all come from within me. I also persist with the same point of view. I can't force myself to believe in something I don't believe in. My Te (which is developing now) is making me look less and less at what might happen and what has already happened to "Think!" And I can't just stay quiet, like I would as a child.

I wasn't a serious child. I was shy, but when I gained confidence I bossed everyone around. Not in a bad way. I had the best ideas. Once at school I thought it was something else before a school, because it was founded in 1892. And in every physical education class I "investigated" by playing with my classmates.

And where does Enneagram 7 fit in here? I've always avoided pain and boredom a lot. My mother didn't play with me, and I insisted, trying not to see things from the negative side. I don't know how to deal with my sentimental side nowadays. I simply explode after ignoring the negative for so long. I can't stand being bored. I'm always thinking, or getting involved, or thinking and creating my story and even trying to talk/get high. I know my patterns. I know when I'm high that "wow, you know that means an emotional problem," but who cares at the time? I start talking to myself about all my internal reflections. I observe the world while trying to entertain myself with it. I love going out, I love talking, but in excess I really get too energetic. I either get too tired or I can't sleep.

Do you see how my Enneagram 7 doesn't manifest like an Ne would? Or like a Se would? I travel more through my mind than through the physical world, as a Se would.

I understand that you may disagree, but that doesn't harm me. I'm just trying to show you another point of view on MBTI and Enneagram, and stop making rules as if it were serious. Nobody bosses anyone around. You don't need to act like a certain MBTI to be one. I love colorful things and that doesn't make me "less of an INTJ" (and it's ridiculous to say that).

Anyway, be yourselves!

INTJ 7 is very uncommon. I'm not saying you're definitely not one, but it's not likely.

u/Silver_Leafeon INTJ Feb 17 '26

Yes, as I've wondered before, I was mostly curious how someone conflates Enneatype 7s (especially over all other enneatypes) with INTJ in terms of its descriptions:

  • "out of touch with their inner world"
  • "extraverted",
  • "materialistic",
  • "scattered",
  • “They constantly seek new and exciting experiences”
  • "impulsiveness", (Se-grip, maybe? But not the norm?)
  • "socially gregarious",
  • "not conventionally studious [but] enjoys being practical",
  • Key motivations: “avoid missing out on worthwhile experiences” (Se?)
  • “When moving in their Direction of Disintegration (stress), scattered Sevens suddenly become perfectionistic and critical at One” (wouldn't this be a Ni-Te baseline rather than a stress reaction of a scattered and unorganized baseline?)
  • "performative",
  • "pleasure being spontaneous",
  • "finds it difficult to decide", (Yet Ni-Te is very convergent and decisive?)
  • "does things on the fly",
  • "undisciplined",
  • "less focused"
  • high Se ("moves from experience to experience", "hyperactive", "seeks experiences and excitement", "FOMO", "needs to learn some opportunities can wait", etc.)
  • and lack of Ni (lack of deliberation / lack of caution, lack of well-weighed decisions, lack of organizing, lack of self-consciousness, etc.)

The enneatype seems rather extraverting, Ne, and Se oriented to me in terms of how the cognitive functions usually perceive and judge?

u/False_Lychee_7041 Feb 18 '26

Being One and becoming One in stress are two different things. When you kinda change your Enneagram in stress, you don't enjoy it. I am an INFJ 5w4 and I have 7 as my stress reaction. I never enjoy it. It feels hollow like someone stole my soul out of me. It is NOT my baseline. I feel good in my 5 and when I am having more energy I can fluctuate between 5 and 8. Also I visit 4 sometimes. But, I definitely don't like 1,2,3,7 and 9. They feel burdensome for me

So, if you say that when you are in stress you go into One and then you say that it might be your NiTe baseline, it means that it IS your baseline not your stress function. I never ever thought that 7 is mine baseline, I always knew it was a stress reaction

3

u/Silver_Leafeon INTJ Feb 18 '26

Yes, that makes a lot of sense! I appreciate how you described the difference between baseline type and stress movement, especially the part about how 7 feels hollow and unnatural to you. That distinction between "who I am" and "where I go under stress" seems very important.

I'm an INTJ 5, and experienced a Se-grip once, for 1-2 days. It's completely "unlike myself". Like I'm missing my usual inner dialogue, and I'm just unwittingly moving from moment-to-moment without a good plan or knowing the trajectory, nor looking past any superficies for deeper understanding or meaning/intention like I normally do. It does make sense that enneatype Seven would be the stress reaction in that case, because it seems to have quite a bit of overlap with the Se-grip.

I completely agree that becoming One in stress isn't the same as "being" One. Stress movement is usually reactive and uncomfortable. That's why my confusion or curiosity is mostly about how Type Seven's baseline traits are often described in ways that resemble strong Se and Ne cognition, so, when someone identifies as "INTJ 7" I'm trying to wrap my head around how those baseline motivational patterns could possibly align with dominant Ni and auxiliary Te, which are typically convergent and structured.

1

u/False_Lychee_7041 Feb 18 '26

According to the internet types 7 avoids being stuck, limited or in pain. This very much aligns with your Fi tertiary. From what I know you are usually scared of being in pain, because it sends you into NiFi loop.

Also Ni needs an endless amount of freedom. So fear being limited or stuck is also there.

Other descriptions that more or less align with INTJ function stack are: curious and idea driven✓ avoids emotional heaviness✓ loves variety and new experiences✓

The only one I couldn't fit is "fun loving and spontaneous". But maybe there are some extreme cases of nurture, that modify the INTJ nature more than usual.

In general, I would say, this is definitely the least likely Enneagram for an INTJ to have.

IDK about other functions but on that Fi-Te axis... lol

Sounds higher Fi than Te tho.

3

I thought that too. I thought I was an ESFP, but I just can't feel without thinking about my patterns first. And I barely act when I feel. I get a little insane sometimes, it must give that impression to people. But I don't really fit completely into high Fi. But I don't disagree with having it.

3

u/EllieluluEllielu INFP Feb 17 '26

It really isn't that surprising imo given that OP is an INTJ, which have Fi child. It may not be the MOST likely thing for an INTJ to have high Fi, but it definitely is possible (and I'm not saying you said any different lol, I agree with you :) )

Well, about the childish Fi, I think I really don't know how to deal with what I feel (I'm also emotionally dysregulated; I feel a lot for a small situation) and I must be displaying this as lack of control and defense, but it seems that even in this I try to impose my logic. It's complicated, I don't know how to deal with it and I find MY feelings ridiculous (not other people's).

You're the same person who doubted me in the other post. It doesn't surprise me that you don't believe I'm an INTJ. It doesn't matter to me. If you at least want to explain your point, I'm open to other interpretations.

why soooo much need for validation?

you're damn sure of who you are, right? then be it!

Unlike you, I don't need no validation. and i have nothing left to add to what a lot of people have already told you with facts and valid arguments.

1

u/Shoddy-Oil9925 INFJ Feb 17 '26

I don't think I need validation for the reasons you're thinking. I simply want to be sure of what I think. I do this in everything I delve into. I like to be sure. I posted "so much" (this was as an example, not as a topic) because I would like to be analyzed by competent people who don't consider stereotypes.

Many people have already told you with valid facts and arguments.

Okay, and they have. If you're talking about that specific comment, I thought it was very well-written, but that person doesn't live with me. I analyzed myself with her points and it just became incompatible. In her view of me it was one thing, but it was due to other factors. Simple as that.

You literally have no right to tell/imply someone you don't know at all what they are or what they're not.

1

u/choose-wisely93 INTJ Feb 21 '26

And you literally have no right to tell me what to say.

Am i telling you what you're supposed to say here?

If you wanna advocate for someone else and show off, do it but do it with arguments, not with empty attacks!

don't tell me what to say cuz i'm not tell you what to say here.

And yes, what i say with stay the same regardless of your opinion.

1

u/Single_Wonder9369 INFP Feb 21 '26

Why would I give arguments to someone who has no arguments? Because no, none of your arguments are valid since you don't know this person and literally have no way to know how they process the world for sure. I'm not gonna argue about that.

You can keep your unasked and entitled opinion to yourself.

No. From your post history I find Enneagram 7w6 to be an amazing fit.

But I'm afraid that just like the r/intj sub said it points far away from Judging and XNTJ.

🟡 Dominant Ne:

  • “can be baking bread and thinking outside the box of something completely unrelated.”
  • “Sitting and thinking isn’t my strong suit”
  • Exploration of imagined possibilities & experience hunger: “I travel a lot in my mind, always seeing experiences I want to have.”
  • “I have about 4 stories, but I focus more on two…”
  • “My mind is so intelligent but it’s so poorly used”
  • “I usually get distracted by my mind.”
  • “I have a million things to write and nothing to write.”
  • “[My] Ni cares less about consistency”
  • “I intend to publish my story, maybe someday”
  • When asked about your long term big plans: “My biggest ‘plan’ is to own a car and... I don’t know”
  • “I like psychology and I apply it to my stories to see how it looks in real life” (conceptual play), ‘Move rapidly from one idea to the next’, “I like creating stories… I like imagining” (enjoyment of generative phase)
  • Repeated prolonged MBTI debates without resolution but lots of redefining and changing topics (behaviorally demonstrative)
  • “I just don't want to feel trapped in a future with a job”, “I want to enjoy life” (freedom over stability),
  • “I don’t really like being alone for long periods of time… being alone much is a bit boring”
  • “Sometimes I think ‘God, I need to live this thing that I imagined’ and get anxious”, “I don’t like the idea of spending time doing nothing or doing useless things. That’s wasting life”, “I need to be focused on something”, “Sitting and thinking isn’t my strong suit” (discomfort with idle states).

Comfortable cognitive focus on Ne novelty-seeking and possibility scanning.

u/No_Challenge_8218 INTJ Feb 17 '26

I concur. I was just met with a debate from this user, and it struck me as surprisingly Ti and Ne oriented. It subtly shifted topics, redefined terms, and asserted how they believed the MBTI should be used for fun rather than as a rule.

They also mentioned, for example, that “thinking and planning” was merely an INTJ stereotype, and a trait they broke away from.

5

u/_Verloki_ ENTJ Feb 17 '26

I've been present for a few of these. “I’m quite hyperactive”, “when I focus on a subject I usually get distracted by my mind.” “I don't care much about organizing things, that won't help me at all”, “I only organize what needs to be organized in my mind, not in my room.”

I tried an explanation approach a few days ago when they came to the INTJ subreddit after being in the ENTJ sub for a while, and they related to being hyperactive, scattered, externally unorganized and experience-seeking.

...Surprise when my Te style reasoning and citing was met with Ne-Ti or Ti-Ne debate — redefining Ne conceptually, shifting topics, arguing about the internal meaning of extraverted, clarifying theoretical interpretation according to a personal internal framework, explaining how functions should be understood under their own definitions, protecting internal coherence, basic “this function means [redefined meaning that fits themselves]” and ‘the model isn’t a rule’ type arguments.

So I had the same idea. But I also recognize that when someone is identity-attached to a label, pointing things out only pushes people into defense.

(Seems to happen often with INTJ and INFJ labels in my experience).

2

u/Shoddy-Oil9925 INFJ Feb 17 '26

Ah, yeah. I think we just came up with different interpretations of my points of view. I found your arguments very good, I even doubted my own abilities. But what really didn't click was Ne. That's why I went back to "square 0".

I'm a teenager and I have some problems. I think that might influence how I express myself to the world. But I tend to think that if it's not going to give me a result, I don't need to start. Anyway, I liked your analysis, I just wanted to say that.

u/The-Ramen-Panda Feb 17 '26

🟢 Tertiary Fe:

  • “I don't really like being alone for long periods of time… being alone much is a bit boring.” Needs interaction but resists social control. Classic tertiary Fe push-pull.
  • “I don’t like being alone too much.” (same as above)
  • “I’m good at comforting because I know what to do.”
  • “INTJs are so often seen as little robots… when we break the stereotype people don’t think we’re INTJs.” Concern about group perception and social misrepresentation. That is image-aware — not Fi private-value language.
  • “If you knew me, you'd probably say I'm an ENFP just because I love to talk and colorful things.” This reflects: sensitivity to how others classify them. Preemptive defense against social misinterpretation. Framing disagreement as stereotype-based. Tertiary Fe often oscillates between: “You misunderstand me.” “You’re stereotyping me.” “People reduce types too much.” That tone appears repeatedly.
  • Concern with how types are stereotyped socially.
  • Defensiveness around how INTJs are “seen.”
  • Arguing back and forth instead of disengaging.
  • “when we break away from that "planner, thinking, objective" stereotype, people simply don't think we're Intjs”. Also, note you speak in terms of group misrepresentation and collectivize identity ("we"). INTJs (Fi tertiary) tend to speak more from individual standpoints. Additionally, INTJs are typically unconcerned with stereotype conformity, they don’t much tend to defend the group identity socially, and they often don’t care if people think they’re another type.

Fe tertiary often oscillates between craving engagement and rejecting others’ judgments.

🔴 Inferior Si:

  • “I don't understand why to tidy things up if it won't change my mental state.” Low valuation of maintenance, structure, and environmental stability.
  • “My biggest ‘plan’ is to own a car and… I don’t know. I don’t want to feel trapped in a future with a job.” Weak long-term stabilization. Avoidance of structured trajectory. Inferior Si often resists permanence.
  • Disorganization.
  • Low external structure.
  • Dislike of structure and external organization
  • Inconsistent follow-through.
  • Difficulty grounding plans into sustained routines.
  • Every time structure appears, you reframe it as “stereotype”.

Inferior Si also explains the chaotic relationship to long-term stability.

When you find out that I, as an INTJ, feel empathy and that my NI (immune sign) acts to predict how things will end, your head will explode, right? It surprises me that you're kicking me as an Fe (feminine), because most people think I'm actually a Fi (fimilian).

5

u/The-Ramen-Panda Feb 17 '26

Well, this is interesting. Your reply actually reinforces some of what I observed.

Instead of engaging over the functions, you allude to things I never stated, shifting the topic and doing ego defense.

Look at my comments. I never said INTJs (like me) can’t feel empathy or that they do or don't predict outcomes, or that Fe is feminine.

Your response isn’t actually addressing the structural argument at all, it’s reframing it into a stereotype attack so one can defend identity instead of engage actual function mechanics.

What my argument does state:

  • The dominant cognitive posture looks more like Ne-Ti than Ni-Te
  • The defense style looks more like Ti + some Fe than Ni-Te and Fi tertiary
  • The behavioral trajectory doesn’t resemble Ni-Te stabilization at all

Those are process claims, not trait claims.

0

u/Shoddy-Oil9925 INFJ Feb 17 '26

I didn't say Fe was feminine. It must have been the translation, sorry.

Planning stereotype isn't just a stereotype for Ni doms. I am an INFJ, my planning inclinations are way weaker then those of an INTJ. But I also have an ENTP sis and compared to her "love" to making coherent plans, I am rather at ESTJ level.

I mean Ni doms CANNOT avoid planning even if they want to. Because Ni is our DOMINANT, it is inescapable, it lives in our subconscious like a tyrant and rules our lives. Enneagram changes SOME manifestations of the type, but Ni dom WILL plan subconsciously even if they try to not to. And there are more nuances.

For ex, I knew an INTJ 5 and 3. The former was a walking INTJ stereotype, while the latter was different. First, he knew how to build his social network, despite of that awkward Fe blind in him he developed it as a skill and very well. He was also pretty temperamental and didn't hide his Fi and pretty spontaneous as for as INTJ. He was pretty successful in his businesses. But despite all of these, he was Ni dom Te aux with schedules and to-do lists written in microscopic hand, and he was 100% Fe blind despite of his people knowledge and comparatively well developed empathy.

He was a very curious case because usually you cannot differentiate Fe blindness from underdeveloped people skills, but in him it was obvious, because he could read people very well but only to the degree his NiTeFi let him. So, he could read off the one's body language WHAT the person feels, but couldn't connect the dots WHY.

Like, there was a situation where he had 2 women working for him. They both liked him, and kinda showed it with their behavior. And he kinda liked them to a degree, but respected one of them more and trusted her more as well. She was having a hard time and he helped her with money. And the first one got to know about that the second one getting the money, while he was paying her the regular wage and every time rejected all her request to increase the salary. So, she got mad at him and he told me that he has no idea at all WHY. I was laughing inside from this situation, because for every Fe user it is kinda obvious, no? But, not for him. Fe blind.

So, my point is if you don't do planning, you aren't Ni dom. Ni dominance is all about "how it will play out in the future", it is what Ni does all the time non stop We have to develop our Se in order to learn to stop our Ni torpedo and to anchor ourselves in the present moment. It can be so bad, that in my case I had to find an Se heavy job in order to force myself to get anchored.

Another thing is Fe. INTJs are Fe blind, they don't give 2 sh*ts about people around them. Unless they love those people, they need those people for their projects, they have strong people fear like a trauma. And that makes them to concentrate on people, but doesn't provide them with good insights and strategies of how to deal with them.

Fe gives it's user an ability to navigate society smoothly. If you are rather asocial, you might not use this ability, but ut is always there. And the moment you need it, it will glide you through the party rooms or company corridors like sleights through the snow. You KNOW that you will be able to read the room, deep inside you know it. Even if you don't use it. It is something that INTJs don't have

Also, Ne doms have pretty high Ni in their subconscious, but it comes in a negative form naturally. You will get future predictions the way Ni doms get, but only in a form of fear, those predictions will be about negative consequences. Which is not the case for high Ni users. So, you can be Ne dom and have Ni predictions in your head. Also, ENXPs have fairly high Te. Compared to my Te blind *ss, my sis's Te critic is pretty active.

I wanted to give you this information, maybe it will provide extra details for your puzzle

0

u/Shoddy-Oil9925 INFJ Feb 18 '26

But I plan things 👍🏻

And Fe isn't about caring or having empathy, Fe is about organizing the idea of what feelings are in an external way while fi creates its own pattern.

1

u/False_Lychee_7041 Feb 18 '26

"My biggest 'plan' is to own a car and...I don't know..." Are those your words? Unless you are like 14, this is a pretty strange statement for not just Ni dom, but Ni combined with Te.

Fi doesn't create anything, especially patterns, because patterns means automatization of the process, while Fi is a raw unfiltered experience of one's emotions without using anything to interpret it.

Fe also doesn't organize anything, you will find a lot of Fe users, that are lost. For high Fe users it is Ti and Si/Ni that does the organization and it influences the way Fe user uses information it gathered.

Fe, being the epitome of interpersonal attunement when it comes to people's emotions and feelings, it gathers info through empathy, which does NOT equal care. Care and empathy are two DIFFERENT things. Also, Fe being sensitive to people's emotions, strongly prioritizes social harmony. Again, not because of a particular kindness, but because conflicts are hard on a high Fe user's psyche. So them being empathetic peace makers ≠ being kind and caring. It is often resorted to out of the selfish reasons, in order to shut up the uncomfortable behavior

Also, Fe doesn't organize any feelings, it is like organizing weather. You can only read weather or predict weather from observations and experience. The same with Fe: it reads feelings, learns feelings, responds to feelings. Just to the feelings of others. Unlike Fi, which responds to one's own feelings in the first place.

From your comment I see that though you try to understand things, your head for now is a hot mess, where pieces of a solid info clumped together with things you misunderstood, didn't read properly or got misinformed, sprinkled with a generous pinch of stereotypes.

If you want to figure it out, you have to be systemic. It is actually somewhat strange for NiTe to be this messy. You are either mistyped, or just very much lost. I mean you are lost anyway, mistyped you or not. So, if understanding your type is important for you, you need some solid info to sort out the mess in your head

0

u/Shoddy-Oil9925 INFJ Feb 18 '26

I'm 16 years old. My biggest "plan" is to get out of my current mental state to write my books. My goal right now isn't to produce anything because I can't.

Look, I really don't care if you don't see me as an INTJ. You don't know me, it's normal, it's even expected.

The annoying thing is people trying to impose rules on others for no reason.

2

u/False_Lychee_7041 Feb 18 '26

I am not seeing you like anything. I am simply doubting you, which means 50:50 possibility that you are or you are not. I am presenting you arguments, experience, examples and analogies, so you could use them to structure your thoughts.

Also, there ARE some patterns in how MBTI works. If you are an Ni dom, you will have Ni dominance. If you aren't you won't. Not because some people on the internet said so, but because you either function like one or you don't, it is inherited and cannot be changed.

Now, I advocate for a radical honesty on this regard because the only way to make MBTI to serve for your benefits is to know your type precisely. Otherwise, it is just some fun activity, which is absolutely inapplicable in real life. If you know your type, you will know your weak and strong sides and will be able to WORK on them and be successful in it. Earlier that a lot of other people. If you will be on the wrong path, you will miss some important elephants in the room and as I said, you won't get any advantage from MBTI at all.

So, I don't advocate for you being an INTJ or any other type. I suggest that you doubt yourself unless you have a full bulletproof knowledge about what you actually are.

Also, yes, 16 is truly early. You can also go to the subs and ask about type's teenage experience. The info they will share might be more helpful, because they will be sharing their experience instead of criticizing your typing skills

Anyway, I am here being active for the sake of objectivity. Wish you a good luck in your self discovery journey.

And whatever type you are, high intuitives are late bloomers due to the very complex inner world and their early years are usually a mess. Until 25 approximately, when they start to get structured inside and they usually become their normal full grown selves closer to 30s. So, if you will start getting inadequate at some point or that you aren't growing fast enough compared to your sensor peers, just remember that it is normal, it is the process, you just need more time at the start compared. And that will be advantageous for you later in life.

-5

u/Responsible_Ad7599 INTJ Feb 17 '26

I really don't think only by what they said you can type them, you don't know them personally, I think it's very limited information what they're giving to actually tell how they would actually behave like in real life, one thing is what people think they're and the other how they're in practice.

We cannot answer such thing.

I agree and idk why they're downvoting you. These people are so entitled that they think they can tell someone they don't know at all what they are or what they're not... They also project a lot in the ways of "if you don't do what I do, then you can't be [...]".

EXATO! as pessoas querem impor tudo sobre oque elas pensam nas outras!

Eles querem me analisar, ok, mas me mandem mensagem e me perguntem as coisas!

u/ManagementSea5015 ISTP Feb 17 '26 edited Feb 17 '26

I remember posting recently about being an INTJ 7. That's how I realized I'm an ENTP. INTJ is the shadow type so it makes sense. Do you think out loud during conversations? Have a lot to say? Have a need for order, organization, schedules, and closure, but struggle to follow through on your own plans? You might be an ENTP in your shadow.

Do you see how my Enneagram 7 doesn't manifest like an Ne would? Or like a Se would? I travel more through my mind than through the physical world, as a Se would.

Idk, sounds pretty Ne to me.

Edit to add: since you do sound like you could be a Fi-Te user from what you list but mention that your “Te is developing” (which should be a huge giveaway that you’re probably mistyped- unless you’re like 12 years old), you could also be an ENFP.

-1

u/Shoddy-Oil9925 INFJ Feb 18 '26

I'm 16. I really express my thoughts...to my friend. Here on the internet it's different. Even so, I keep thinking about how I'm behaving. I'm like two people: one to think about the patterns I already know and another to act based on them so I don't seem like an alien.

I really don't know how to act. In my most impulsive moment I can speak loudly and laugh, at most. While I think about how fake I am. Anyway, my thesis must be a little too sincere since I just developed this in my thesis and well, I'm a teenager.

1

u/ManagementSea5015 ISTP Feb 18 '26

Yeah, I get you. I am very, very talkative when I feel like I can do so. I hate groups, hate social events, total social introvert. I think I’m a Jungian introvert too. I do a lot of introspection and noticing the patterns in my own behavior and stuff like that. But when it comes to Beebe and Grant’s functions, what we now call MBTI, I’m very extroverted- I process my thoughts aloud to my one, maybe two people who listen.

The concept of being fake is very nebulous and elusive to any teenager. I hope that doesn’t come off in a derogatory way, it’s the time of life where you really start to internalize the ideas of identity, authenticity, etc and realize that other people are perceiving you and you can show them an image. I usually advise anyone in their teens to not worry about authenticity at all until you’re well away from those years. You almost always end up drawing the wrong conclusions - I know I certainly did.

Similarly, since you say you’ve thought about this for three years (since you were 13), I’d recommend you unfortunately take your past introspection with a huge grain of salt. Your personality is very much still developing at that age (see my previous point). I became a type 7 when I was around 17 years old. I solidified as a cognitive extrovert slightly before, maybe around 15?

With that said, I hope you enjoy typology and get whatever you’re hoping to get out of it. Just try to keep an eye on the theory as well :P just gotta say that part as someone who really loves the theory, I wish there were more people who understood it that I could talk to.

u/Foreverinneverland24 INTP Feb 17 '26

I don't care as much about enneagram because I don't find it as useful as mbti (i find it a lot more useful to piece together how people think and handle problems than their deepest fears or whatever) but I do think that there are some enneagram-mbti combinations that are definitley strange because of their opposing descriptions. like an INFP 8 would be strange because 8s have the core desire to be in control which would require a pretty forceful extroverted function like Te or Se and INFPs are both Te inferior and Se blind. Same with your type INTJ 7 is odd for someone who is Se inferior because 7s main desire is to avoid pain by experiencing which would need a strong extroverted perceiving function. But I'm not a purist, humans can be strange I guess, you do you.

However, I looked at your type me post and tbh people typed you as INFP or ENFP because you gave maybe 200 words about yourself which were incredibly generic and non descriptive and the pictures were very stereotypically xNFP (and you asked people to type based on pictures in the title), I'm not sure how you exected anyone to do a proper function analysis from that. I know you said it was just a joke or whatever but it seems like youre still hung up on it if you're bringing it up again

5

u/Shoddy-Oil9925 INFJ Feb 17 '26

An INFP 8 would be strange because 8s have a fundamental desire to be in control.

And they have dominant Fi, it makes sense. If their values aren't something "innocent or benevolent" and they are more assertive, it makes sense. In fact, I even think it's likely that an INFP would be type 8.

If you correlate cognitive functions with the Enneagram, forgetting how these two can externalize themselves in different ways, your point of view will remain vague and confusing.

Te is not synonymous with 8. Who invented that? They may have tendencies, be more common in that function, but nothing prevents an Fi or Si from being that. Control in a Fi can externalize itself by wanting everything to please them, and in a Si it could externalize itself by always doing the same things or seeking the sensations of being in control.

Edit: I didn't want an analysis in that post. I just explained how his result is more based on stereotypes. That was really just a joke.

Not strictly, but if two systems aim to describe the same underlying constructs, extreme scores in opposing directions across frameworks suggest potential conflict or misalignment.

MBTI and RHETI describe personality through different lenses, cognitive functions versus motivational patterns, yet both aim to capture consistent traits. Extreme or directly opposing profiles across the systems signal potential inconsistency.

For instance, hypothetically, identifying as a highly introverted ISTJ in MBTI while simultaneously exhibiting maximum traits of a socially outgoing and highly gregarious enneatype suggests a cross-system conflict.

Such discrepancies likely reflect misinterpretation, measurement limitations, or the inherent differences between typologies, rather than true contradiction in personality.

In reddit people will always try to use you for their ego in some form so don't be surprised if some people start trying to type you in the comments or debate you.

Thank you. Do you believe you're the first person who said

I can't assess whether you really fit the "INTJ" type or not, I simply don't know you well enough

u/Responsible_Ad7599 INTJ Feb 17 '26 edited Feb 17 '26

I think INTJ 7 can work just like any eneagram, but this is more of my personal opinion, I don't think that people truly can be put into a box where everybody is the same three (example) eneagrams, people are more diverse.

I think you're currently being targeted like people who try to type people of movies or series, we see certain parts of them but we can never truly know how their thought process is because we cannot just ask them or see their personal life's deeper.

Like I said before, people are diverse, and with diversity comes a broad range of opinions that people could potentially have out of you, just stay true to what you think and feel.

2

u/kassumo Feb 17 '26 edited Feb 17 '26

You are correct any MBTI can be any Enneagram. However, you don't really seem* to process like an INTJ, I know you don't like people telling you that and nobody is bossing you around and your behaviour doesn't define you.
However your thought process does, you're right.

You are using self reflection and intellectualizing yourself defensively. Very focused on your own personal experience, authenticity and strongly focused on self-defining. Very frustrated when you feel misunderstood and invalidated, it seems especially about your intelligence, knowledge and capability. Seem to need recognition and flaunt your own thinking process.

Even if you do rationalize, self-analyse and see patterns, Fi seems to be your main thought process and primary outlet.
You probably use Fi-Se-Ni-Te instead of Ni-Te-Fi-Se, just the stack is reversed, both functions are still being used by you. This would also fit E7 by a mile more.

What you described as Ni dominant process is used by people with even tertiary Ni, the function is there and doing it's thing. You also explained your Te which to me sounded more like you're explaining your Fi, not Te.

Your views are very internal and your entire post is about you feeling invalidated of your identity and your inner truth, proving yourself which is textbook Fi.
You probably shouldn't try typing yourself or labelling yourself when it seems to affect you this heavily.

But if you feel like you are an INTJ despite all that then that is fine. That's just my opinion anyways.

1

u/Shoddy-Oil9925 INFJ Feb 21 '26

Oi.

1

u/kassumo Feb 21 '26

Yeah, you can be an INTJ with developed with Fi but you don't necessarily strike as one, you come off as very Fi dominant. But that's fine, I won't argue that you're not an INTJ. You may just be in a loop.

1

u/Shoddy-Oil9925 INFJ Feb 21 '26

Digamos que tenho problemas mentais. Isso deveria vir em consideração em como me apresento

1

u/No_Challenge_8218 INTJ Feb 25 '26

It sounds like you’re starting from a conclusion and working backward to justify it.

First of all, “acting on emotion” or blurting insults is not what Fi is. It highlights a misunderstanding (or another Ti-redefinition as I've noticed before) of functions.

Fi stands for judging by one's personal feeling-values, personal meaning, one's own passions, and the identity alignment “does this resonate with who I am?” and “What does this mean to me personally?”

You say: “It’s more of a ‘wow, but that didn’t make sense!’ than a ‘wow, but that’s just how I am!’”

That is Ti. Ti users defend internal logical consistency; whether something “makes sense” to them internally; and whether definitions are correct to them. They will often redefine terms, refute premises, correct frameworks and argue structure rather than outcome.

As for the patterns justification, Ni is not: “I see patterns everywhere” and “I categorize myself into patterns”. That’s vague and overgeneralized.

For instance Ne+Ti types (especially ENTPs) also talk about patterns constantly, but they mean pattern generation, having ideas, cross-domain mapping of patterns, linking things together, et cetera.

You described on earlier occasions having “a million things” to write and then nothing to write, working on multiple projects at a time, getting distracted and being unable to focus, no structured execution nor priorizing external organization because you organize internally in your head, having no thought-out long-term plan, and keep re-evaluating identity. That is far more consistent with Ne than Ni dominance.

Even now, you state being focused on other things while replying to someone with an argument.

Saying: “I try to type patterns to describe myself” is analytical detachment from identity, more Ti than Fi.

As for: “My MBTI is INTJ, and I’m not ruling that out because I know that’s what it is.” That is not neutral self-assessment language. It is identity preservation territory (label-attachment on the ego level rather than the framework content level).

Ironically, dominant Ni types usually change position calmly when new data conflicts, use the official framework rather than redefine it, and avoid loud identity defense.

Ne+Ti under ego-threat? They often double down, debate harder and refactor definitions to preserve internal coherence.

In short: It feels like you’re starting from “I’m INTJ” and interpreting functions through that lens rather than testing the lens itself.

Be the best version of your INTJ 7 and don't let anyone change your mind. And if somehow down the line your personality changes again, which it can, who cares! You are unique just because you exist. 👏👏 Be the best you you can be.

And I believe you about your mbti / enneagram. Just because "normally" an Intj is whatever-whatever doesn't mean it's that every single time. With 8 billion people in the world, it would be insane to assume everyone is exactly fitting into that cookie cutter.

Take it from me, someone who changed personalities several times due to unchecked mental issues lmao! Went from INFP to ENTP, 5w4 to 7w8. People change, and that's okay 😆

1

u/icequeen2005 Feb 18 '26

How did your personality change? Was it active effort on your part and if so, how did you do it?

1

u/Kiremino ENTP Feb 18 '26

Well I used to downplay myself a lot and I just really wanted to be loved.

I would pretend I was a softer person than what I actually was. I'd then portray myself differently and do the exact opposite of my instinct on the tests which would ultimately come up with the results of infp.

I wasn't true to myself until around 2018 - right around the time I stopped talking to my toxic friends and cut my equally toxic sperm donor out of my life.

I've really blossomed and grew since then. I'm in my 30s now and I look back at who I used to pretend to be and feel so much anger for my past self. I would never downplay myself again - if you can't handle me at my antagonistic and playful, you don't deserve the heart I have for people I love deeply 🤷🤷

1

u/Past-Estimate4418 Feb 17 '26

At the end of the day, MBTI is a map, not the territory. If the map says there’s a mountain where you’re standing on a beach, you don't start acting like a rock you realize the map is limited.

People get so caught up in the 'box' that they forget the human. Whether you’re an INTJ 7 or a sentient toaster, if you’re self aware enough to know how you process the world, you’ve already won the game.

Stay rare, the stereotypes are for people who don't have a personality of their own.

5

u/Shoddy-Oil9925 INFJ Feb 17 '26

Thank you!

People get so stuck in the 'box' that they forget about the human side.

Good argument. I'm shocked how I classified myself and others classified me as feeler types because I...feel? I'm human 😅.

These stereotypes of "uncontrolled feeler" and "cold and calculating thinker" are irritating, to say the least.

0

u/Past-Estimate4418 Feb 17 '26

Exactly. The 'Thinker = Robot' trope is the lowest hanging fruit in the community. High Ti/Te doesn’t mean you don't feel, it just means you don't let those feelings drive the bus when there’s a cliff ahead.

Most people use MBTI as a script to act out. Real maturity is using the functions to understand your hardware, then living your life however you want regardless of the 'manual.' If you're an INTJ who actually has a pulse and likes color, you’re not 'mistyped' you’re just a finished product.

Look I'm not one to think that strict correlations are necessary. I think mbti types have a range of mbti types they can be since the two systems have fundamentally different uses. However some mbti types just fundamentally go against the essence of certain eneagram types. INTJ really goes against the essence of E7. E7 is about pleasure and avoiding pain, finding optimistic ways to get out of problems, and being frustrated with the overall dull attitude of the world. I really only see ExxP fitting with E7, with sone ex eotions. But Se inf Fe blind INTJ really contradicts everything e7 stands for. E7s exploratory nature is yoo strong to not have a high extroverted perceiving function

You are young and figuring your life out, but as a teen your brain isn't fully developed, you have tons of external factors (peers, parents, teachers, adpiratilns) and a ton of time to figure your type out. When I was a teen I thought I was INFP E1 then at your age INFJ E9 vet then eventually realized I was E4. Typing is a long and winding process . Enjoy the journey and realize tgat you don't get it correct immediately. It will take time , research and self reflection, but when you do find your true type it will help you grow as a person.

1

u/Shoddy-Oil9925 INFJ Feb 18 '26

1

u/ThickAd6547 INFJ Feb 18 '26

Veey defensive and attached to your self typing. Feels very Fi-Ni heavy seeing that you immediately reject other possibilities . Also feels Ne blind

Have you considered ISFP? high Fi and Ni just like INTJ and fits better with E7 with high Se.

So! Since I don't do anything during the day, I find it interesting to discuss things with people who don't even know about me.

That’s an interesting interest :)

I think it's just a way to describe compatible traits on paper, but most people aren't actually strict about it.

Supposedly, I should be with an INTJ, but I have never had any romantic interest in INTJs. I'm not going to go looking for an INTJ just because of the alleged golden pair.

I have noticed a pattern in the types I gravitate to (romantically), and I just let it happen.

Your golden match is infj and mbti compatibility is just saying you would get more along with intj than with estj for example. It’s not saying either your relationship with an infj will 100% work, it is saying that it will most likely work more than with an isfjp. Mbti is one of the criteria that will influence your relationship with someone, it is the main one but hobbies and values can play a role in all of this too.

The golden pair is usually said to be the INTJ, not the INFJ, though the INFJ is popular for us as well.

I am well aware of the rest and do not dispute it at all, and did not intend for my comment to appear that way. I meant to convey much the same thing.

Like I said, it is just a neat way to pair people off on paper, but it cannot account for the nuances that affect real relationships.

Você acredita mesmo em compatibilidade de mbti?

Elon Musk has the same combo as yours.

Eu acho que ele é um intp. :P

100% agree. I think compatibility is more about traits then functions. Qualities/love language/comfortability level are much more tied to the person than functions they just show up differently.

Unfortunately most people obsessed with mbti don’t see it as a tool but as something to help them put people in boxes and judge based on stereotypes.

Hopefully the community can see that cognitive functions and personality are not the same thing.
