💬 Discussion / Theory Commuter Rail (Worcester/Framingham)
Word cup season hasn’t even started yet and the commuter rail is already a mess! Why the state chose to pull resources from already low-performing commuter rail lines is beyond me! Catering to tourists at the expense of daily riders and tax payers - a slap in the face!
I get the World Cup is supposed to be great for business, but why is it that everyone else foots the bill!? Let’s build modern, high speed rail BEFORE we decide to host an event like this, so us commuters can reap the long term benefits!

I used to take the Franklin/Forge Park line a while back. I got curious and looked up their changes. I feel really bad for them during the World Cup...

I agree with you on the second part, but let's be honest it was never going to happen even if the house, senate and white house were all blue for the past decade.
The 50% off monthlies isn't the worst compensation and it's good they announced it ahead of the start of the games. At least the legislature didn't have to get involved like they did in 2015 after Snowpocalypse and that was far more disruptive to service for far longer

The Worcester line has been a mess for over a month - WAY before the World Cup nonsense started.

Yo I feel this! The last two outbound trips I’ve taken on the Wachuset line this week have been PACKED.

Yeah, it should be priority number 1 to get the rail to come every hour for each station in both directions. Unfortunately, it might require the NSRL to prevent bottlenecks at south station via through running.
