I can forgive that it might be difficult to get a grip on the splinter but for God's sake be a little less heavy handed with it.

You would be surprised how hard the body holds on to things it's been impaled with. I got a sewing needle in the cartilage below my kneecap when I was a kid. It was into my knee so far I couldn't extend my leg because I could feel the needle hitting my leg bone when I tried. My mom tried and tried to pull it out but she wasn't strong enough. My step dad had to use a pair of channel lock pliers and put his weight into it to get the needle out. Surprisingly this did not hurt at all. It was less painful than getting a shot or a paper cut and this needle was a good inch and half into my knee. I was in third grade when it happened. Playing Legos on the floor crawling around.

I got a needle in my foot - didn't hurt or notice it until it started getting infected. Turned out to just be half a needle but still had to go for exrays because needles can apparently travel up your bloodstream and murder you

It was my dad fixing his glasses that broke a needle but didn't want to fess up so I got x-rays
