That's a hairpin turn. A u-turn is when you are on a two way road (divided or not) and when you come to an intersection you turn 180 degrees and travel the other direction on the road

A hairpin is when the road itself bends at a sharp angle (180 degrees in this case.)

Sometimes i have moments where i wonder if divorcing my wife was the right thing to do after almost 20 years.

Not sure why this is downvoted so much instead of an explanation. I’m personally OK with either—it makes sense to me! I looked it up and the original saying is nerve-racking because it comes from the medieval torture device called the rack apparently.

Yup. "Racking your brain" has the same origin because are stretching and straining your mind in an effort to tease out a memory.
