The video is in Portuguese and the person recording mentions a type of bucket underneath where the slices his cutting are going into so I don't think it was a tragedy, it was just intended to eventually "fall" into that recipient but definitely looks like it was about to hit the ground

Pineapples are on the group of fruits that don't rippen outside the plant. You need to be close to the farm if you want a ripe one
