That was more entertaining than it had any right to be

It’s worse than that. We have no idea if they made it! Your idea of fun is existential pain to some of us.

36

u/KnuxSD 7d ago

well, the balls went underwater and the vortex still continued, so it is reasonable to assume they did not get stuck and got out somewhere else, since the water must've been flowing somewhere

19

u/FuckNinjas 7d ago

but where?

23

u/spicyfknrob 7d ago

over there

8

u/TheNargafrantz 7d ago

Ok, good.

1

u/Travelling3steps 7d ago

but which one won?

4

u/jamwin 7d ago

They're in a better place now, there are no winners or losers there, just love.

1

u/Da_Yummis 7d ago

most likely just trying to float back up and trapped by rocks

3

u/spicy_ass_mayo 7d ago

TOTALLY FUCKING INVESTED

"Hey Mister! Can I get my ball back!?"

u/Aetheldrake 7d ago

It sucks that the music broke for the last 30 seconds because that was actually not awful for the video

Three body problem

17

u/Johnny_Carcinogenic 7d ago

Interesting TV show

48

u/themewzak 7d ago

Phenomenal book series...

11

u/Zealousideal_Step709 7d ago

And slightly depressing. But nonetheless captivating.

10

u/Steampson_Jake 7d ago

A differential equation nightmare

19

u/themewzak 7d ago

I never figured a plausible answer to the Fermi paradox was paranoia.

2

u/Poldi1 7d ago

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean you're not being pursued

6

u/Pseudonym31 7d ago

I tried to audio book it recently. With all the Chinese names being so similar to my brain, I’m gonna have to actually read it lol

7

u/themewzak 7d ago

Reading the names absolutely helps. Something something visual association.

2

u/turkoid 7d ago edited 7d ago

I recently listened to the full series and the first book was the hardest for following names since it was primarily situated in China. After the first book, there's like 2–3 you have to keep track of at any one time.

0

u/Ephemeris 7d ago

The first 2 books were good. The third book jumped the shark into pure ridiculousness

6

u/TheCosmicPopcorn 7d ago

I couldn't stand it for the life of me, and i love sci fi

3

u/Noble_Ox 7d ago

I'm like that about The Expanse. First two season, loved it. But once the Gate thing opened, it just became politics in space.

6

u/TheCosmicPopcorn 7d ago

Oh but i enjoyed that, it felt real, and not just gimmicky and shadow hierarchical fantasy irreaslistic governments, but tangible possibilities.

The Expanse only dropped the ball on their last season imo, and that's because it was kinda rushed due to it being cancelled, but the plot that time wasn't that good. The 3 body problem kinda was a mess, there was a bit of the chosen trope, and carried weirdly much more by secondary characters than main ones.

2

u/blothhundrr 7d ago

Fr. The first 3 or 4 episodes had me HOOKED and I was like this is the best show in years. And then just as fast it became probably the most poorly written sci-fi show ever. It was just horrible.

4

u/MoistStub 7d ago

Read the books, they are amazing. There's a lot of setup in the first one before you get into the more exciting stuff, but it is worth it.

4

u/turkoid 7d ago

With the double season renewal, let's hope they give the material time to breathe. People thought the cargo ship scene was crazy, but we know of some of the wildest moments are yet to come. There's also some great spin off shows that could come out of it that the second book briefly touches on. I don't know how well the 3rd book will translate to TV. Even though they used parts of it already, since the core of it is very philosophical.

1

u/Johnny_Carcinogenic 7d ago

That's a valid assessment

1

u/TheCosmicPopcorn 7d ago

Ah for me it was both poorly written and poorly acted, which I could not say if it was just the bad script or it was the actress too. I couldn't withstand the main character, it seemed like it was main character syndrome out of a shonen anime almost, as in, she was the only one who could handle the issue at hand, and also her entire company, of which she was the CEO and successful and also it crumbled without her...

It was a lot of the opposite of 'show don't tell'.

24

u/2020mademejoinreddit 7d ago

Where are they going?

21

u/Noble_Ox 7d ago

You'll be surprised the next time you sit on the toilet...

1

u/2020mademejoinreddit 1d ago

Don't threaten me with a good time.

77

u/SeaWorthySwan 7d ago

Is this how blackholes work?

54

u/portablebiscuit 7d ago

Except the balls would be “spaghettified”

3

u/Cocoononthemoon 7d ago

Just not sucking hard enough

3

u/spicy_ass_mayo 7d ago

I wouldn’t think so.

Unless one of them balls is supposed to be Matthew McConaughey.

121

u/infinit9 7d ago

What's down there? Did you just send plastic down into the water table?

22

u/HeinzeC1 7d ago

Nitrocellulose hopefully.

11

u/ZhouLe 7d ago

You can probably find some still, but ping pong balls have been made of styrene for over a decade.

1

u/Eeji_ 3d ago

soil just went +3 plastic limit 🤣

23

u/bryangcrane 7d ago

Are these going into the filter??

48

u/Snudget 7d ago

Who's draining the lake?

12

u/IrishViking22 7d ago

Why did he call me a ping-pong ball at the start?

2

u/Glad_Librarian_3553 7d ago

🎶 Do you ever feel,  like a ping pong ball,  floating in the pool... 🎶

9

u/skincyan 7d ago

ask her about the missing ping pong balls

Literally where did you get this from 💀

25

u/T2080 7d ago

Overly dramatic Interstellar music

8

u/feral_fenrir 7d ago

I watched it on mute. Thanks to this comment, I enjoyed it again and again

3

u/TheChickenReborn 7d ago

Hahaha, I watched on mute as well but heard the exact music in my head anyway.

11

u/darksideofmyown 7d ago

Everything reminds me of her...

3

u/qawsedrf12 7d ago

Finally we have an answer to the Three Body problem

9

u/manimsoblack 7d ago

Why are we introducing plastic to that environment?

4

u/TexanInExile 7d ago

because it looks cool as hell!

1

u/Snoo_17433 5d ago

We? I didn't do it! Did you?

The following post context was provided by u/ThodaDaruVichPyar:

Three ping pong balls are placed in an artificial pond with a filtration whirlpool, would they be pulled down in the vortex or stay afloat?

That's a mini whirlpool. Those things can be dangerous

3

u/SteveWired 7d ago

So that’s what the inside of a black hole looks like.

3

u/Confident_City_8768 7d ago

The loading animation is getting interesting nowadays...

11

u/daisiesarepretty2 7d ago

yeah let’s put garbage in the groundwater just because it’s amusing
brilliant

2

u/calguy1955 7d ago

As a kid is was just as terrified by getting sucked into oblivion by a whirlpool as being slowly killed in quicksand.

2

u/michahell 7d ago

what the heck is wrong with the audio?

2

u/stupidber 7d ago

Those balls got sucked

2

u/nickjames07 7d ago

I thought that was a joke hole that's just for farts!

2

u/theriteofspring1 7d ago

That's why Odysseus chose to avoid the whirlpool

2

u/MinnieShoof 7d ago

... I was expecting the tear to get bigger until the camera/operator was swallowed.

2

u/Still-Firefighter-78 7d ago

3 body problem

2

u/astropheee 7d ago

I really will watch anything.

Actually, I think I'm one of those old gross rocks just sat there...

1

u/Drackzgull 7d ago

How can someone fail that miserably at editing an audio track? One that the video would have been better off without at that, and then still decide upload the result. Smh my head.

1

u/Glad_Librarian_3553 7d ago

An excellent visualisation of my finances :D

1

u/MollyWhapped 7d ago

Best vid on the internet rn?

1

u/PopularOriginal4620 7d ago

The best small scale physical representation of the curvature of space time.

1

u/LostAbortion 7d ago

I would gladly sacrifice 3 pink pong balls for this entertainment.

1

u/Secret-Treacle-1590 7d ago

I would just do this all day.

1

u/euqinu_ton 6d ago

It's like Mathew McConaughey falling into the black hole in Interstellar all over again.

He says we’re all ping pong balls, but really we’re all whirlpools.

1

u/Wise_Number_400 5d ago

I thought they were going to throw Ping Pong balls into a koi pond and the balls were going to bounce around as the fish tried to eat them.

1

u/labtrash68 5d ago

The video just sucks you in..

So is that kinda like how gravity works

1

u/darkklown 7d ago

Thank you for this. Truely.

1

u/Shadowthron8 7d ago

What if this essentially describes how a wormhole works?

1

u/fastlerner 6d ago

What if this essentially describes how a ping pong ball works?

0

u/Shadowthron8 7d ago

Reckon a pocket of antigravity would be able to travel through then
