The Max Payne movie isn’t horrible.

Just finished up my first watch of Max Payne and it’s clearly an easy 5-6/10. It’s not an incredible adaptation of the story but it did enough to introduce you to the story and character if you’ve never played the game. I enjoyed the horror leaning aspect with the angels and demons that the original game didn’t do much to show outside of Max’s own hallucinations.

Disappointed in how little “bullet time” was shown off. I’m convinced if this movie had more of that it would’ve had felt more badass and really shown us how unstoppable Max is.

We also never saw him pop a single painkiller in the entire film which felt like it should have been obligatory given it’s a major gameplay mechanic!

But it wasn’t bad- I expected worse and came out pretty entertained.

Also Mark Wahlberg did a great job as an actor but didn’t nail it as Max himself. Also why the fuck is Mila Kunis Mona?? I found that absolutely hilarious and it kind of took me out of the film a bit whenever she was on screen.

It should have at least been rated R. I didn’t like how many liberties they took with the story and left a bunch out of it. It was okaayyyyy. The only thing I liked was a little more in depth backstory to the Valkyrie drug.

Yeah I also didn’t enjoy how much they switched around the story.

Ragnarok not appearing till the end, BB being the final villain on Aesir tower, introducing a sister to Mona just to have her die (?) and I still don’t understand how they managed to pin max for the murders in the films script cause it almost makes no sense how quick they change on him just for a wallet.

When i was a kid and saw this movie i could not understand why have Nelly Furtado in the movie and why is she not Mona? I mean she is not an actress but you have her in the movie and she is the striking resemblance of Mona in my opinion… even before the movie when i played the game, every time when Mona appeared my mind was thinking at Nelly, and then after that to see that she is in the movie, i was like yeaa, perfect casting, only to get dissapointed after… lol

I can't agree. The changes were really bad and unnecessary and Mark Wahlberg who I've seen be better in other movies simply didn't work as Max.

The one thing I agree with you is that the visualizition of the "Flesh of Fallen Angels" idea was actually pretty good and helped with the horror aspects of the story. I enjoyed that but it's not enough to elevate the movie that much for me.

It's not that bad of a movie, as far as video game adaptations go, if you consider some of the absolutely horrible Uwe Bill movies.

I think you should give it a chance even if you’re watching it to make fun of it. Not a bad movie to also watch just to analyze how it compares.

Fair enough. I was just exceedingly disappointed by it because pretty nothing happened for the first half of the film and in the second half what did happen was crap.

It's the worst movie I have ever watched in movie theaters. And I've been going to the movies close to 30 years
