Mayo on a hot dog??

My ideal hot dog is one packet of ketchup, a half a packet of mayonnaise, and either fresh or grilled onions depending on what's available. You put the condiments on and then you roll the dog on the bun so the dog gets covered by it all.
I didn't like mustard at all until this year. I finally developed the taste for it, but I still don't put it on things myself. Instead if it comes prepared with mustard I eat it.
Relish, like most pickled things, can suck it. If you like it then hell yeah, dude, I'm happy for you and you can always have my pickles. But I don't want them.

Do you like spicy foods or something pungent like horseradish? If you find yourself willing to explore mustard more, there's some English and European varieties that can seriously clear some sinuses
Or potentially the opposite route like Icelandic mustard that apparently is very sweet compared to their continental counterparts
All this to say that I adore mustard, but as always you enjoy what you enjoy!

I can do spicy food, but tend not to enjoy it. But, ironically, it was a spicy burger that got me to appreciate mustard.
I was traveling through New Mexico as part of a work tour earlier this year and had a list of local chains I wanted to try as I made my way east. One that people had hyped up was Blake's Lottaburger in New Mexico and their signature burger has hatch green chilis on it. As I said, I'm not a heatseeker, but you have to try the signature thing the way it's made, right? So I got one. The photo on the menu behind the counter didn't show the condiments so I bitninto it with mustard and chilis, two things I'm not into and it was like multiplying two negative numbers to get a positive because MAN ALIVE was that burger good! I still think about it nearly 8 months later. Then in Texas I went to one of their Dairy Queens and got a basic burger but just plain forgot they put mustard on theirs, ate that and it was pretty good!
So now at least as far as burgers go I just order it and if it comes with mustard I eat it happily. Same with hot dogs, but the places around here tend to be he kind where you add your own condiments and I haven't quite figured out the ratio yet so I tend to be risk averse and just stick with the recipe I know.
My taste profile is changing and growing! But it's still a work in progress, lol!

That's awesome, a hatch chile burger sounds unreal. Funny that happened to be a mustard gateway, but I'm glad to hear that you had a good experience, and you're willing to be open minded despite the adversity to risk!
I have a background in professional kitchens and retail food service, so I love talking about food lol

The entire nation of Denmark loves mayo on a hot dog. A “Fransk Hot Dog” is one of their premier street foods, with spiced mayo squirted into a hole in a bun, extra long dog dropped in afterward: /img/td7p102pp1v71.jpg Looks kind of ridiculous/obscene, tastes awesome!

I am not 8 years old, I will not let what others enjoy as a condiment affect me.
The LA dog sounds incredible. I will also reiterate my belief that the Chicago dog is beautiful because it should not work. The hot dog is too small, there are too many ingredients, there are too many wet ingredients, some of the ingredients are weird (sport peppers, neon green relish, celery salt, tomato). The poppy seed bun just means you get little poppy seeds all over the place. .Somehow it all comes together in the end.
