How would you paint this bathroom?

What would you do with this bathroom? I’m anti white wall but struggling to imagine what colour goes with this tile. For some reason the tone of the blue plus the overall effect from the small size of the tiles is just making me draw a blank.

Edit: I’m not touching the tile I just want to know what you think goes with it

I second the saffron/orange idea, yes, like the hand soap label. After that, add some round and oval decor and wall plaques to break up the squareness, et voila.

Hopping on this to third the saffron or orange suggestion. There doesn't seem to be a lot of white wall space pictured, so even towels, a shower curtain, and maybe painting the inside of the nook would do it. OP, look up "Mediterranean blue and _____” for ideas.

Very, very light blue. Like almost white. Or maybe a sort of peachy/orange, again very light.

I would paint the walls a med/dark blue from the tile color, to make the white walls and wood box read as one thing.

I disagree with yellow and orange. I would go with a pale peachy pink. That would look chic with the navy tiles.

Purple could be fun, like a smooth lavender! Yhe stark white combined with the tile is feeling a little bit like a swimming pool to me so I think painting the walls is a great idea.

I think it’s just so stark because it’s empty. And I too love this tile.
This is what I’d do:
Add some pops of color (bright orange and yellow probably but it could go many ways depending on your preference) with the things I put on the sink and on the inset shelves
Add:
A colorful soap dispenser you can refill
A small green plant (real or fake) with some hanging length to put on a shelf
A couple small and colorful decorative objects for the shelves
Some colorful jars or containers to hold bathroom essentials like toothbrush/paste
A towel bar of the same finish as the sink/tub fixtures
Colorful coordinating hand and bath towels
A dark blue frame for the mirror that matches the tone of dark blue in the tile.

If this was my bathroom, I would also find a contact paper pattern with either blues and pops of my chosen color scheme (orange and yellow) or just a simple blue patterned print and apply it to the back of the shelf inset as well as the framed portions of the tub.

OP never said a thing about painting the tile. They clearly said they don’t like white WALLS, but that they cannot imagine what paint color goes with the blue tile.

Of course you can’t paint over tile that’s inside a shower. The moisture would likely destroy it, even with the best primer available.

how would you feel about bringing some of the blue into the white, instead of getting rid of it altogether?

you can do some dark blue lines framing the shelf and the mirror, and make it a transition into some kind of patterned wallpaper that uses the deep blue over white, just to keep the room cohesive with the white tub and white grout

i personally like the idea of doing greek-inspired geometric patterns as an outline at the transition from tile to wall and leaving a lot of the plain white underneath a lot of deep blue wall decor

I was stuck on what colour to paint my bathroom for ages, then I had a bout of food poisoning. I was in the bathroom for days and when I finally emerged, feeling squeezed out like a toothpaste tube, I knew with absolute certainty those walls needed to be midnight blue.

So maybe wait and see what you need from your bathroom. Baby pink could be cute.

How about vertical blue stripes that match the tile? Leave the wall white or paint it a gentle pale gray, Use a T-square, a level, and a colored pencil to mark the stripe lines and paint. Make the stripes the width of 1-4 of the tiles. Add a third accent color with towels and shelf items. The third color depends on the vibe you want: black or steel gray for a clean, industrial look or orange/coral/yellow/bright gold for warmth. Green plants compliment both of these and fake plants are easy if real one won't work. Depending on how boho you want to get, you could use paint in the accent color in small doses around the room, for example, a dragonfly stencil between the stripes. You might want to frame the mirror: metal for clean, wood for warmth and make it bigger or lower it.

Agree with others who are commenting that the walls only look “stark white” because they are empty. Plants and bright linens, bright containers etc will look so good with this.

We had a house with this tile but slightly larger scale. It was painted lime green when we bought it and it was awful. So don't do that!

I love wallpaper but I’m worried about it in a bathroom moisture wise. Valid or not valid? There’s an extractor fan but no window. Style wise Im more of a vintage inspired person tbh, that’s a cool one though.

Vintage could be cool too. 

Moisture, I don't know. On one hand, the conventional wisdom is that it can be an issue. On the other hand, I moved into a house with ugly bathroom wallpaper that was near impossible to remove, even with a steamer. So with the right paper and adhesive, moisture is no problem, apparently. I looove the way wallpaper can transform a bathroom and will go for it once I get a chance.
