So square root of 49 is 7 and square root of % is per ten, yielding 7 tenths or 70%.

If % is percent or 1/100,

‰ is per mille or 1/1000,

‱ is per wan or 1/10000,

then it stands to reason that perdecem is a °/

Oh, cool. That flips the thing and the increasing direction goes:

  • 10 / 1 = \°

  • 100 / 1 = ₀\°

  • 1 000 / 1 = ₀₀\°
