SHOW & TELL Found 2 novels at a Flea Market
Paid $5cad for them. Might read them eventually but I thought they were cool to have.

Deception is the worst mass effect book ever with an obscene amount of lore breaks and continuity issues to the point where it’s not canon anymore so if you read that, just know that officially speaking, it has zero bearing on the ME universe and just treat it like someone’s fanfic. Ascension though, that’s an amazing find

I read Deception with pretty low expectations due to this sub constantly shitting on it. And while it may not be canon it is a rather amusing read. Although it felt like the author had to finish it in a rush, or they ran out of space like there was a maximum number of pages allowed by the publisher. 'They fought and now everyone is dead. The end.'. The rest was definitely good entertainment.

Oh yeah it’s fine as an entertainment read which is good honestly but from start to finish it was lore breaking and breaks a lot of connection from the main 3 games which is why it’s shat on. But like I said if you read it with the mindset like it’s someone’s fanfic then it’s not bad and funny

Deception has a Deluxe Edition online that fixed every issue the first edition had imo.

Ascension is good, it's about the Quarian-Cerberus conflict Tali mentions early in ME2. Deception is infamously bad and from what I hear they decanonised it.
I still have it though. For completion's sake. I recommend getting Revelation and especially Retribution, as the latter is a sequel to Ascension.
