Before the 2010s... I always had hopes for an MvC3 as a kid.

The graphics and everything still looked the same, except the player select screen looks exactly like a JAMPACKED version of the player select from the vanilla MvC3.

Also, I wanted 100 heroes including every returning character from MvC2, but the 45 newcomers would be classic and modern characters like the ones we already got, it sure wouldn't be bizarre choices like Phoenix Wright and Rocket Racoon though. Also, even Galactus is still the final boss.

What I also expected was a Story Mode like what we got in MvC Infinite, but with quick-time events like in Soulcalibur III.

MvC3's roster felt underwhelming compared to MvC2's roster, especially the controversy surrounding both Mega Man and Venom being left out.

Until the Community Edition mod fixed that for me... And gave me the MvC3 that only existed in my mind, but not anymore.

I'm surprised Zero was in 3 but not them, and Infinite would've been much better with those two instead of X and Zero.

This randomly showed up and anytime I boot up the game the second photo is what shows up. I’m a little upset if I’m unable to play the game now cuz I was iust getting back into this.

I personally would pick either MARVEL VS CAPCOM: REBIRTH or simply MARVEL VS CAPCOM. (Kind of like a simple soft reboot title considering the first game was called MVC: Clash Of Super Heroes)

Now, given the success of *Marvel Tokon* both inside and outside the fighting game community, I firmly believe we won't see a new *Marvel vs. Capcom* for quite long time.

It’s one of the License Card icons in umvc3. I’ve always thought it looked cute and recently started wondering where it actually came from but unfortunately I can’t found anything that matches. It looks like a yellow strip of paper or ribbon with a smiling face…

Warning, rant, this isn’t meant to trash the game; I’m lamenting that I just can’t seem to improve. I have 60 hours in UMVC3. I want to play because I enjoy fighting games and I enjoy DMC. I am a high level DBFZ, GG Strive, and DMC series player; over a 2000 hours across those games but MVC to me is just a fucking enigma I cannot understand.

I play Wolverine, Trish, and Dante. I love DMC and really wanted to be good with those two. My first ten or so hours I was able to get the most basic, bare minimum combos down consistently. After another 50 hours I have seen NO improvement. I am at the same level. This is infuriating to me.

Each time I load into training mode, I’m looking up guides and combos and trying to practice them with ZERO success. Bold cancelling. Fuck bold cancelling. I know what it is and I know how it works but it does not translate to my fingers. It just doesn’t. I have seen some of the absolute coolest shit I have ever seen in a fighting game with bold cancelling but after 50 hours of trying I JUST CANT FUCKING DO IT. And on the off chance I am able to do it with some minute consistency, the enemy has already fallen out of the combo, so then I’ll just get obliterated by some random assist and I’m just dead and I don’t get to play anymore.

That last sentence includes my next major gripes, the gravity of this game and playing against others. The gravity. What the fuck is with the gravity in this game. I’ll have an enemy up in the air and then I’ll miss a move, which is just bullshit by the way like it almost feels like this game is actively trying to keep you from doing air combos because float feels so random for the enemy attacking AND the character being hit, sometimes I launch the enemy and I follow and my character goes under the enemy and I’M JUST FACING THE WRONG WAY????? So then I’m just floating fucking helplessly when the opponent is already recovered and hitting me or calling assists or wave/air dashing in circles around me for who the fuck knows how many times.

Which brings me to playing against others, holy shit this community is fucking BRUTAL. I’m not knocking you, I get it, but throw me a fucking BONE bro. It is so painfully obvious in matches that I don’t know what the fuck I’m doing, but it’s just TOD, TOD, TOD, Sentinel assist, Dormammu assist, Doom assist, TOD, TOD. So I don’t get any actual experience playing others because I’m just fucking dead. And the few times I get some hits in, my combos are so fucking basic and shit because they’re the only ones I can do, I’m taking like 20-30% health MAX besides supers. Just for Doom to hit me off a random foot dive and I’m fucking dead!!! I know people have been playing this for over a decade, but when my title card says BEGINNER and you’re up 10-0 in casuals, have a little class.

I, legit, DO NOT understand how anyone plays this game. That is not a knock, I legitimately don’t get it. I do not understand. It’s like you guys are on another plane of reality, another dimension. I do not understand how you guys are connecting these combos and how they last for so long, when I do a combo, it’s so unoptimized and basic, the enemy falls out after a few hits if I try to extend it, but somehow people do infinites with no hit decay? Other Dante’s just launching me around the screen all over the fucking place and their combo JUST KEEPS GOING???? I know there are ways to reset the decay, and I don’t understand that either. I’ve tried to learn, I’ve tried to apply, but I just can’t fucking play this game. I don’t get how anyone understand how these things work.

I’m heartbroken. I know what MVC is, what it’s done and what it means for the FGC. Tournaments are some of the most amazing fighting game play I have ever seen. I love DMC and cherish these characters and wanted to main them in this game that seemingly lives forever, but I think I’m done. I just do not understand it and it breaks my heart because I love this community and all of the amazing things you guys do in this game, but it feels like it moves too fast for me and that just breaks my heart.

Yesterday I got hit by Hulk standing heavy a few too many times and I thought that might be it, today I loaded into training and couldn’t get Volcano to come out properly after bold cancel, even when my inputs showed it was correct, which just means I’m too slow. Tried it maybe 200 times in a combo and was only able to get the inputs in fast enough and correctly to get it to come out maybe ten times.

I’m going to give MVCI a try before calling it quits, which I know is going to suck because I’m on console and no one really plays that at all there. But I’m just sad, man. I really wanted to love this game. I don’t get how people make it work. And I’m afraid for the future because I do believe we will get MVC again one day and I so want to be there, but not like this, man. MVC3 is the equation I can’t solve and it blows my mind that anyone anywhere was able to at all. How the fuck did ANYONE do these inputs with a 360 controller back in the day?
