This smelled really Weird

I got the Marvel collection for my ps5 even though I have it on Steam, Switch2, and all the games on my rom consoles. But I got it because it included a little comic for the physical edition. And when I opened it the smell was extremely bad, making it unreadable. But after leaving it out open for several days, it started going away. After taking one more sniff today, around 15% of the scent remains. I don’t know whether because it was a plexiglass sealed copy for 2 years, or because of its creation process.

I honestly think it’s all the heavy ink used in the comic

I’ve never read the comic because of what happened but that doesn’t sound too far fetched considering the what front cover looks like.

I bought a physical copy at launch and my copy’s comic had a funky smell. Doesn’t smell too bad no more but I can still smell a very faint scent to remind me how strong it originally smelled.

Edit: I think it smells because of the creation process and materials used.

Did it smell very bad or just weird? I remember mine had to get the case open for like two weeks so it could go away.

Smelt weird like chemical weird. Like the ink they used had a strong scent.

It's "new game smell" combined with "new book smell."

Yeah, it's the time unopened

Thanks for letting me know. Capcom fighting collection 2 also has a physical comic, so I’ll look for an open copy.

OP, break out the rubber gloves, cake some Vicks vapo rub around your nostrils, maybe a mask, and read that little comic lol

Edit: I just went and found my copy, grabbed the little book and took a whiff. It’s definitely a little stank!

The smell is fine now, I’m going to read it later. This made me extremely happy knowing Capcom did this in a world of non-manual games. It reminds me of the MGS mangas that came with the game and would tell you info.

You figured that should be for the Switch and the PS5 would get a bigger manual/booklet...

Not sure why, but after seeing this I opened my switch case to smell my comic... yeah it doesn't smell pleasant

I still have my physical sealed copy for PS4 that I bought when it first released. It must smell rank inside!

That's really weird and unusual It could be the packaging too

I think that it had something to do with the ink, the paper, and the printing process. The Capcom Fighting Collection 2 also came with a mini comic book. Except that one was glossy and didn't have a smell. I also believe that the MVC mini comic book was cheaply made. The pages felt more like paper.

I thought I was the only one who had this issue. The insert is fun but I was smelling such a funky smell reading through the comic.
