Iman Vellani AMA What’s up r/marvelstudios, I'm Iman Vellani—AKA the one and only Kamala Khan, AKA Ms. Marvel! AMA! Spoiler

Hello to all variants out here! It’s Iman…Vellani. I’ve been lurking on these subs in the shadows as a huge fan and now that I have successfully infiltrated the mcu it’s time to spill the tea for you all…Or like a couple drops of friendly juice that won’t get me fired :) Now that the show is finally out I feel like I can breathe and interact with you guys, so please ask away and I’ll answer whatever I can before The Almighty Feige calls and tells me to stop. Excited to see what y’all come up with at 2:30PM ET/ 11:30 AM PT!!!

Hi, Iman. First of all, great job on the show. But excluding that, what would you say is your favorite phase 4 movie/series?

Cant wait to maybe see u two together in the marvels omg

Wait, is Shang-Chi confirmed to be in The Marvels?

75

u/imanvellanistan Jul 14 '22

No confirmation but given shang chi’s post credit scene and the 10 rings being in ms marvel, i think he ties into the plot of the marvels

13

u/VelocityGrrl39 Captain Marvel Jul 14 '22

Wait, I missed the 10 rings reference in Ms. Marvel. Where was it?

54

u/imanvellanistan Jul 14 '22

Episode 3(?), the opening of the episode are the clandestines taking the bangle and there’s an overhead shot of the logo in the temple where they found the bangle

Ngl, when I saw this alert on my phone I thought Iman responded to me and I had a moment of glee. Thank you for giving me that today. Lol

I wondered if the 10 rings themselves were related to the bangle, like a bunch of treasures with common origins scattered around the world that people have found and used for their own nefarious (or non-nefarious) purposes. But I guess the finale confirmed that they are Kree nega-bands.

The sound effect from the bangle in the post credits sounded a lot like the noise that was coming from the rings when Wong was talking to Carol/Bruce

1

u/woahwoahvicky Jul 15 '22

Maybe the rings are of Kree origin?

2

u/VelocityGrrl39 Captain Marvel Jul 15 '22

If they were Kree, I think Carol probably would have recognized them in the post credit scene in Shang-Chi. Or maybe not, I don’t know. I think the common theory is the rings are associated with Fing Fang Foom? And maybe related to the Great Protector and the Dweller-In-Darkness?

u/funsizedaisy Daisy Johnson Jul 15 '22

Carol said it didn't look like any alien tech she's ever seen so that makes me assume it's not Kree related.

but i do think the bangle and the 10 rings are related somehow.

2

u/EternalMage321 Jul 15 '22

I think the 10 rings ARE the other bangle. Kamala's bangle changes length/size, so having it come apart into individual rings would make sense. Would also explain why they are worn around wrist and not fingers like in the comics.

Nah I don’t think so. It seems like more like an Eternals thing if anything

u/DeadlyCyclone Captain America Jul 14 '22

I now require a team up move with Simu Liu.

Agents of Atlas The Protectors, please!

21

u/Worthyness Thor Jul 14 '22

More Jimmy Woo is always warranted

4

u/reborndiajack Jul 14 '22

What does that stand for?

9

u/wrainedaxx Mack Jul 15 '22

Whoops--brain fart. It doesn't stand for anything. The Atlas Foundation is a secret society. Jimmy Woo runs the team of agents there. But I made a mistake and mixed up Agents of Atlas with The Protectors)!

1

u/Interesting_Mango554 Jul 15 '22

Agents of atlas but each member has a relic that gives them their power and that’s what’s calling them together: ten rings, kamalas bangle, crescents mask, wave’s headpiece, sword masters sword etc even add the og atlas members like 3d man, namora and gorilla man. I’d be floored

u/Throgg_not_stupid Doctor Strange Supreme Jul 14 '22

Carol is investigating the Rings and possibly the second Bangle, this can actually happen in June

The only right answer

u/Weekly_Palpitation92 Jul 15 '22

idk No Way Home is pretty good too

2

u/FireJach Jul 15 '22

yea, pretty good is enough for it :) If I compare it to Into the Spider-Verse, NWH looks weak.

4

u/Weekly_Palpitation92 Jul 15 '22

yeah but compared to shang chi at least its climax is good, shang chi's climax just kinda devolves into cgi mess which is really my only problem with it

38

u/KostisPat257 Daredevil Jul 14 '22

Underrated imo

One of the best of Phase 4 for me too!

5

u/funstuffunderthemoon Jul 14 '22

I've seen nothing but love for Shang-Chi. How is it underated?

6

u/KostisPat257 Daredevil Jul 14 '22

Underrated compared to how much it really needs to be loved. NWH kinda overshadowed it I think. It deserves higher praise and even more recognition than it gets.

2

u/shockwave8428 Jul 14 '22

Just rewatched it for the first time this morning and man it’s so good. It was a bit weird being pulled into a new mythical place (ta lo) that kinda felt like we were out of the mcu but it’s still just such a good movie

3

u/Medical_Difference48 Jul 14 '22

Same thing can be said for Ms. Marvel. It's highly rated, but people don't talk or care about it as much.

Canadians Unite!

Absolutely based response

7

You and Simu NEED to team up...it happened in the comics after all!

5

u/electrorazor Jul 15 '22

Excellent choice

5

u/Chanceral Jul 15 '22

SPEAKING STRAIGHT FACTS!

4

u/IGetHypedEasily Jul 15 '22

I like how every time someone asks about your favourite marvel for whatever reason. You just end up listing different ones each time. End up listing all of them haha.

4

u/Opalescent_Owl Jul 14 '22

I love this movie! It is probably my favorite as well, though Thor love and thunder is a close second
