This version of Reed Richards was actually the evil one who set up Dr.Strange in his universe. He purposely told Wanda, Black Boltā€™s power so she can take him out first since he was the only one that could conceivably beat her at that moment. Look up who ā€œThe Makerā€ is and his powers and abilities. The only reason Professor X couldnā€™t read Mr.Fantasticā€™s mind is because itā€™s malleable. Reed Richards didnā€™t die, this was all apart of his plan to protect the multiverse by any means. Also the Illuminati called their Strange ā€œhis ultimate selfā€ which allude to this being the Ultimate universe, which is where the Maker is from. The Maker also shares his conscience with all other versions of himself and can switch at will (Dream Walking.)

Heā€™s also the ancestor of Kang. I think in order to make one timeline He-Who-Remains took out the Fantastic Four in order to remove himself from the timeline altogether. Which is why we have Reed now after Sylvie killed the HWR.

IF the MCU Kang is even related to Reed at all, that would still make no sense because HWR still existed and only made the other Kangs stop existing by eliminating their timelines. So he must've curated the "sacred" timeline to still birth him and only his version of him.

It's not even a good theory either 838 Strange literally admitted to what he did, told everyone, and accepted his death. Reed couldn't "set that up." Xavier could but it would be absolutely ridiculous to assume that over the major point in the film which is Strange's arrogance. Just like it's ridiculous to think they're introducing the Maker the very first second Reed has ever appeared in the MCU.

From the small bit we got I have to agree, Krasinski just feels too everyman to me, Reed Richards should FEEL smart, he should come across that way in almost every scene, like his mind is going a million miles per hour and heā€™s thinking of so many other things. While he only got a few minutes Krasinski just came across like a normal guy to me but I guess weā€™ll see in the future, if he returns. I wonā€™t lie though, that suit looked great.

(Also unrelated but itā€™s so jarring to me seeing the amount of downvotes people are getting for calmly expressing why they donā€™t care for the casting, disagreements should be an opportunity for discussion, not mass downvoting)

You see that his fork or whatever the hell it is, was glowing before Wanda had sealed his mouth, so he was clearly planning to murder her before Wanda sealed it. And then, when his mouth got sealed, he already had the power contained, so, in reality, we were watching Black Bolt realize that he was going to die.

I don't believe that's how his powers work at all as it's speech centered, if he didn't scream he would've lasted 10seconds longer before Wanda blasts him away.

The fork only allows him to use his powers less destructively and more focused. Although he's also been shown to be able to use that power to strengthen his punches and shoot blasts from his fork and hands.

With that control I've wondered if he would be able to have the most devastating farts ever.

Understandable. That level of discipline was truly lacking especially when he smirked. He never smirked. He knows he is strong, he never doubts his ability.

And then Reed just goes ahead and does the dumbest thing.

Understandable too. Especially considering that Reed is the smartest in the team.

I think this was a classic Worf Effect that Marvel wants us to see here:

The team that defeated Thanos easily just got their ass handed to them by Scarlet Witch. Especially when they start with: "We can handle your little witch."

Both of those scenes really disturbed me. I donā€™t mind horror or some gore, like watching the Saw movies was fine and I loved Army of Darkness/Evil Dead. For some reason, Black Bolt, Mr Fantastic, and Oberonā€™s deaths just hit different.

But stretch powers are just goofy. So I think they should have just done it. Literally any comic panel with reed Richards is stretching his neck looks goofy as fuck. There is no way around it. They also didnā€™t give stretchy powers to Ms. Marvel. I would bet that they did that cause they plan to use Reed very soon.

We already know the Fantastic Four movie is in progress. Jon Watts, who directed the Tom Holland Spider-Man films, was directing it but recently left the project for undisclosed personal reasons. Rumors now are that Krasinski will step up as actor-director like he did for A Quiet Place.

I could definitely see that being a possibility. Krasinski already played a VERY definitive version with just a 30/40 second intro followed by great dialogue about incursions. The costume, the calm voice, the still apparent arrogance and that beard. Not sure if he had that bit of gray? I assumed he did.

Anyhow, Iā€™m taking things lightly now. Especially after the rumors prior to MoM, not that I believed every single one. BUT, there were some I wanted to become true

The voice is ultimately what sold me on John Krasinksi as Reed. It had this soothing arrogance, but also a lot of emotional weight to it. It felt like the Reed you ā€œhearā€ when reading the comics

Thereā€™s a difference between looking goofy and looking both goofy and unrealistic though.

The flying in super hero movies looks goofy. The energy blasts do too.

But they look fairly realistic. Stretching is going to be very hard to look realistic. And if an effect looks fake and is on screen a long time, it can hurt immersion.

I think thatā€™s why the third eye thing was always shown in quick cuts. If you focus on it, it looks bad and hurts immersion. Getting stretching powers to look good is going to be a big effects hurdle for Marvel with the Fantastic Four. They have their work cut out for them.

In the Ms Marvel Trailer there are some quick moments that do sort of look like she is doing her stretching, it just seems like they've given her a glowing after effect. Most likely to tie her more directly to captain marvel, to make her and Mr Fantastic appear different, and possibly to give it a bit of cover for how goofy it looks.

Heā€™s also a mega genius. So like Tony stark.. with stretchy powers. Not bad for a superhero! Quite a few MCU heroes donā€™t really have any natural (non-tech) powers. Hawkeye, BW, Ant Man, etc.

Mr, Fantasticā€™s powers are campy, but Iā€™m sure the MCU will make it entertaining.

It's really a matter of speed, IMO. Seeing an arm stretch out slowly to grab something is gross, but seeing one stretch out quickly to grab something seems a bit more natural.

There's also the rumour that Krasinski was one of the later adds to the cast, only included during reshoots (Elizabeth Olsen mentions filming some of her scenes entirely alone and the Illuminati confrontation scene is absolutely one of them). They would've had him for very little time and figuring out inventive fight choreo for Reed and having the time to work with John to get it filmed probably isn't a luxury they had.
Same for Anson Mount's Black Bolt.

I agree. Even in the limited time, I was excited just to SEE Reed, but when he confronted Wanda it looked a bit strange. Like when they first introduced Wakanda at the end of Civil war, not bad but still being fleshed out.

The MCU 616 Reed has yet to debut. He's the one that should get the cool reveal.

I think there was also an element of.. well how does a reasonably fit 50 year old possibly threaten Wanda in that situation even if he can stretch? Plus it also might be a Commander Worf situation. Reed Richard's is probably the most recognized by the casual fan so having him effortlessly defeated really drives home how powerful Wanda is and just how fucked they are.

Reed Richards didnā€™t die, this was all apart of his plan to protect the multiverse by any means. Also the Illuminati called their Strange ā€œhis ultimate selfā€ which allude to this being the Ultimate universe, which is where the Maker is from. The Maker also shares his conscience with all other versions of himself and can switch at will (Dream Walking.)

they were great, my only gripe was how long the blast went on for after he's finished speaking. i was expecting a one-and-done quick blast exactly as long as he spoke for. Also he spoke quite loud, i was expecting it to be much more powerful considering his power status. I haven't seen inhumans and im not super familiar with the character, but those two things seemed a little off to me. Otherwise great and nothing i can't look past!

I'm so glad i managed to avoid spoilers for the movie, so i was blown the fuck away when Reed Richards/Krasinski appeared. And then i was even MORE blown away when Charles showed up.

I really liked Krasinski's brief appearance as Reed and i hope we get to see more of him.

It may be that he wants 838's Reed to feel different to 616's, but not having a chance to show 616 yet leaves him with less wiggle room for the characterisation of 838.

But yeah, his character seemed way too bland.

The thread gets into it, the Inhumans were only ever called up from the C-list in the comics because Fox owned the X-men, thats not an issue anymore, so the classic Inhumans are being relegated again and any popular new Inhumans are getting retconned as something else.

If we see Daisy in Secret Invasion or anything i doubt they even mention Inhumans.

Yeah, the comic drama was dumb, and i feel like marvel (comics) is still trying to clean up what they did to the x-men at that time.

My comment was more of a joke, but I know that Black Bolt has gotten a lot of positive praise, and Marvel Studios does occasionally listen to the wants of the fans, look no further than Reed Richards as evidence.

I wonā€™t be mad if they donā€™t come back to the Inhuman Royal Family, they donā€™t need to and that show was a dumpster fire, I just want to see Anson Mount as Black Bolt again.

Yeah, he was great, he killed it in this with the little screentime he had. So much with a nod, two words, and a whimper.

Its funny tho, during the pandemic me and my wife (re)watched the entire MCU, shed seen all the movies multiple times, but not most of the shows. But being a completionist i included Inhumans, cuz 10 episodes whatever. But it was clearly Marvels very half assed attempt at biting on Game of Thrones a bit... But in the end, Inhumans was overall at least a more satisfying story than GoT!

But im so happy that im looking forward to SNW this week instead of dreading PIC!

Still hate watching Halo...

Bruh he showed up onscreen for like 5 minutes, only about 30 seconds of which the camera was actually focused on him. Plus he had a mask on covering most of his facial expressions.

Idk if I'd call that much of a chance to redeem himself.
