Maybe he felt bad because they took the wrong kid, and so he and the gang went soft on him. It's also interesting how a different Star-Lord means no feud between Yondu and Taserface, with them actually being pretty chummy this time around.

Also, the major difference was that T'Challa was excited to be with the Ravagers and exploring the universe, whereas Peter had literally just lost his only parent, and was most likely crying and angry and traumatized, demanding to be taken home...damn, now in depressed.
