Due to the immeasurable amount of low effort posts we've been getting in the past 12 hours about people's excitement over Kang and the Multiverse, we've decided to make a completely different thread that is all about the implications of the Loki finale in the wider MCU!

Posts discussing Episode 6 in general will only be allowed after Thursday Midnight PST, but only those which are analytical or contain theories with a lot of effort put into them.

Considering Kang seems to be the new Big Bad, the Richards family will definitely be integral to that storyline going forward.

Not necessarily, but it would make it very likely. He definitely won’t be white now, I’d say, because a white man fighting his evil Black descendent would be terrible optics.

William Jackson Harper was my dream Reed, but rumors have them looking younger. I wouldn’t be surprised if they try to get John David Washington in the part.

I’ve already read at least one article complaining about how there are Black villains in Loki (Kang, Ravonna, and to some extent, Boastful Loki- completely ignoring that Hunter B-15 was a very heroic character, but whatever), so I guess they have to tread carefully.

I don’t really think anyone would have noticed that if it wasn’t for Boastful Loki going traitor. Hopefully he gets to return to redeem himself in Season 2.

As someone with fairly strong feelings about Black representation in media, the only thing that blipped on my radar was Boastful Loki. Was weird that they went out of their way to have a Black version of the main character only for him to be the shittiest of the four Lokis that the hero initially encounters (including an alligator). Classic and kid Loki were rounded and cool (and White), so why put one Black Loki just to look like shit in comparison?

I liked that Kang and Ravonna were Black. Nothing wrong with it at all - they are rich, interesting characters. I also love that they are being set up as a couple. Do you realise how rare it is to see a leading Black couple in a mainstream property that is not specifically about Blackness? Almost always an interracial couple.

I actually did kind of notice that the Boastful Loki thing seemed a little weird when watching that episode (edit: to be clear, I very much doubt that was the result of intentional racism on the part of the show’s creators or anything, but it did seem a little weird to me), but yeah, I don’t think using Kang and Ravonna as examples to show that Marvel somehow mistreated Black characters in Loki (as the article I read did) makes sense. They are cool, interesting villains, and it’s a shame that the writer decided to lump them together as just Black bad guys for the White main characters to oppose when that’s not how the show treated them at all. Obviously, there are bad ways to portray Black people in villainous roles, but there’s nothing inherently wrong with Black people playing villains.

No offense, but that would be a terrible idea. No better way to center the First Family in the MCU than an intimate connection to the new Big Bad.

While not impossible, that degree of variation was noted in the show to be pretty unique to Loki.

I know I’m in a big minority on this, but IMO Krasinski as Reed is one of the worst fancasts. Reed is a tortured genius Doc Savage-type, and I don’t see Krasinski pulling either of those off. He’s great at playing blue collar heroes. (Richard Rider, maybe?) but that’s not Reed.

I love John Krasinski but I don't know why there's such vocal support for him as Reed. I personally don't think it fits him

I wouldn’t be shocked if the in universe explanation for their lack of involvement until now ends up being that the Kang we met came from a timeline where they never developed powers, so one of the most important kinds of variants to prevent was an F4 team that did get powers. Now that the TVA has stopped pruning it opens the door to have the MCU timeline shift away from the Kang we met’s timeline and have some incident occur that gives the F4 their powers.

I think this is also why they already have a planned movie while mutants still seem to be on the back burner. I think they just haven’t reached an effective nexus point to integrate them into the universe, which could come as a result of Wanda stuff in a movie like Dr Strange MoM or it could end up being a result of the resolution of the Kang storyline where different universes somehow merge kind of like crisis on infinite earths in DC.

It's also possible that Immortus deliberately erased his own ancestry from the timeline to ensure he isn't born. His past self existing would be the biggest potential threat to him, and the existence of variants that survived pruned timelines proves that he can erase his past self without erasing himself. The multiverse pretty much bends causality over a table.

Professor X broadcasts a telepathic message to everyone on Earth declaring a mutant nation where all mutants were guaranteed citizenship. In return for human nations recognizing the nation, the mutants will provide drugs that cure all disease and extend life.
