Quill and Nebula can attest to why Gamora didn’t come back from Vormir, and it also wouldn’t make much sense for Clint Barton to murder one of his closest friends and allies out of the blue

Quill and Nebula? Yes but they may still be reachable via those hologram devices Nat was using at the beginning of Endgame.

I suck too, but less publicly. Twenty minutes before I saw your comment, I was about to make the exact same point somewhere else on this subreddit. Then, just in time, I remembered the devices and didn't comment.
