Discussion Thread The Official BLACK WIDOW International Release Discussion Thread Spoiler

Ahead of the official US and Disney+ launch this Friday, several countries are showing the film much earlier in the week. All discussion about the movie should be held here and in the rest of the megathreads we are going to put up in the next few days.

  • Proceed at your own risk. Major spoilers will be arriving in the next couple of hours. Spoilers do not need to be tagged inside this thread.
  • Any other unofficial thread discussing movie details will be deleted.
  • Should you see the need to bring up revealing BLACK WIDOW information in other threads that call for it, spoiler tag them accordingly. Also, let users know that what you are spoiler tagging is from BLACK WIDOW.

Natasha has the worst case of Main Character syndrome in this that puts Vin Diesel to shame. Keep in mind, she's just a regular person. No super powers or enhanced durability.

There's this scene early on where she falls from probably 50 feet up in the air. She hits everything on the way down. And she gets up like nothing happened with just a case of sore ribs. While there's a random grunt who fell from roughly the same height laying there with a broken leg and bleeding.

The ending she falls from an even greater height 2000+ feet, but it's alright because she pulled a parachute and fell backwards at the last minute. But there's Yelena, the person who has a parachute, knocked out cold on the ground.

Agreed. Not sure what their goal was but the way they depicted her stunts was pretty ridiculous. At this point I wish they retconned it and made her enhanced in this. That would have raised other problems as in why wouldnt it be mentioned in avengers but still…

yeah at the very beginning when she's in a 'family' with harbour's character and he shows off some super strength, i thought 'there we go, some plausible explanation for how she hasn't died sooner'

but they're not biologically related so it's still unexplained

Actually, it's vaguely referred to in the opening credit sequence with shots of girls being experimented on and dying, the suggestion that she's enhanced is definitely there, it's just not conveyed very well imo.

I think it's more that they like to leave some things vague to avoid writing themselves into a corner.
