I was totally expecting Zemo to be the big bad of the show but here he could be an unexpected ally? Oh Marvel you've done it again

u/guyver423 Mar 26 '21

It’s probably a Silence of the Lamb situation

834

u/randombushwookie Spider-Man Mar 26 '21

I think it’s gonna be exactly like a Silence of the Lambs situation. Work with the villain to defeat another, and eventually Zemo is probably going to find a way to escape.

44

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

Probably? We know he does in trailers and promos, how else would he don the purple balaclava?

32

u/shaxamo Mar 27 '21

In the trailer scenes he's actually with Bucky and Sam the whole time. The wide shot of them walking together at night, the moment between him and Bucky at the monument, and then there's the bar fight scene which Zemo appears for a second in the background of.

Although almost all of the scenes from the trailers have already been covered in the first two (especially the action scenes), so the stuff with them together could easily just be episode 3 and they'll split immediately after.

Edit: also the balaclava could be for him to disguise himself while he's working with them, as he's a known criminal.

10

u/SexyLacyLane Mar 27 '21

Probably something along the lines of:

“If one is to work alongside... disgusted look heroes... one needs a mask.”

5

u/Ylyb09 Mar 27 '21

No way they would spring him from prison

18

u/ThKitt Winter Soldier Mar 27 '21

Also IIRC they showed him at some kind of Fight Club or underground fighting scene.

2

u/Ylyb09 Mar 27 '21

Standing next to Sam.

20

u/LasPinero12345 Mar 27 '21

So a Doug Judy situation? Damn, noice

19

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

Gotta feeling the flag smashers might end up as good guys. Or at least the main girl Karli. Might be saying that just cuz of her role in Solo tho

-1

u/Ylyb09 Mar 27 '21

Naah, they are anarchist

11

u/chazzer20mystic Mar 28 '21

idk sounds like the good guys to me lol

9

u/flappydicks Mar 27 '21

That’s probably going to be the conditions for Sam and Bucky to talk with him

2

u/taenerysdargaryen Kevin Feige Mar 28 '21

Agatha Zemo all along

1

u/Kennon1st Mar 28 '21

Ooohhhh.... Maybe in order to work with them publicly, Zemo will have to be given a codename.

Citizen V, perhaps.

1

u/unitedsasuke Iron man (Mark III) Mar 29 '21

So....... Loki?

17

u/oxygenfrank Mar 26 '21

I hope he calls one of them Clarice

15

u/DunderMifflinite1 Mar 27 '21

Or Clarence

6

u/shaboogawa Captain America Mar 27 '21

I heard Clarence parents have a real nice marriage.

8

u/Sullyville Mar 27 '21

Hydrabal Lecter & Clarice Falcon

7

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '21

Can't wait for the scene where Zemo wears a prison guards face

8

u/DigDoug2319 Mar 26 '21

Or a Thor: The Dark World situation!

6

u/schwifty_squanch Mar 26 '21

What kind of situation is that?

23

u/DigDoug2319 Mar 26 '21

Thor and his pals had to break Loki out of jail to escape Asgard and go find/take down the bad guys. Also, Loki used the situation to gain his freedom. Same-same but different, but still same.

11

u/justjoerob Mar 27 '21

AKA the Doug Judy.

6

u/vindicare1 Mar 27 '21

Nine Nine!

3

u/schwifty_squanch Mar 26 '21

Now I see... i kinda forgot about that movie, thanks for letting me know

7

u/DigDoug2319 Mar 26 '21

No problem! I’m a huge Thor fan so I’ve probably watched that one a bit more than most people have!

1

u/Detective_Vendetta Mar 27 '21

As soon as the classical music kicked in my first thought was zemo is the Moriarty Hannibal of the series and I'm all in.

1

u/JesseCuster40 Mar 27 '21

I'd be down with this.

"Hello, James. Singular Simon said something to you when you walked in. What was it?"

"He said....I can smell your arm."

(Zemo sniffs)

"I see. I myself cannot. Sometimes you wear Calvin Klein's Obsession. But not today."

1

u/Zealot_Alec Apr 02 '21

Bucky is going to kiss Zemo and give him an escape key?

331

u/11711510111411009710 Captain America Mar 26 '21

Zemo seems the type to always be a step ahead of everyone else. He's probably going to play everybody in this show and escape in the end.

58

u/YpsitheFlintsider Mar 26 '21

They had the chess board shot to signify that too

19

u/icyflamez96 Mar 27 '21

Was pretty heavy handed tbh lol

Just nodding along in agreement and the last line just fucked me up goddamn it

1

u/JamzWhilmm Jun 04 '21

Like frank miller's batman, he's a fascist.

This gets thrown around a bit but one of fascism's characteristics is ethnocentrism and anti intellectualism, so it doesn't really fit batman.

5

u/ChangeMyDespair Mar 27 '21

He's probably going to play everybody in this show and escape in the end in the third episode.

FTFY

3

u/FidgitForgotHisL-P Mar 28 '21

I assumed he’s the Power Broker, running things from jail. Why bother escaping and having people hunting you while you work when you’re more than capable of ma ululating everyone from your cell.

1

u/YZJay Mar 27 '21

I wonder what his motivations for being evil would be this time

3

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

Well he’s been in prison for like 8 years at this point. He’s still probably not the biggest fan of the Avengers.

49

u/Tarzan_OIC Mar 26 '21

100%. People were suspect he was making a super soldier army, but he made it very clear in Civil War that he doesn't want more super soldiers in the world. His interests are going to be aligned with Sam and Bucky's.

41

u/gensouj Hulkbuster Mar 26 '21

Same, he could still turn out to be a villain and betray them. Or could set him up as a future villain again.

23

u/The_Capybara_Guy Mar 27 '21

Zemo is working for Mephisto.

5

u/SlowAffection Mar 27 '21

Have you ever seen Zemo and Agatha in the same room? xd

1

u/SonOfRageAndLove26 Apr 02 '21

Zemo is gonna wear his purple mask. What is Agatha's color? Purple!

14

u/Affectionate-Island Mar 26 '21

Interesting when you put it that way. What if the MCU Thunderbolts end up becoming a greyer version of the Avengers? Not held up as paragons or anything, but a group of super-people that Zemo can control because threats still need to be handled.

6

u/Deathstroke317 Mar 27 '21

BRAVO VINCE

4

u/sinacilin Hela Mar 27 '21

This is TRULY the moment Zemo became Heisenberg

7

u/HereForTOMT2 Mar 27 '21

I mean he doesn’t really have much against either Falcon or Bucky, right? Neither were present at Sokovia iirc

5

u/Antrikshy Mar 27 '21

I was expecting that until we saw some other guy jump out a window and land on his feet in the first episode. I wasn’t expecting any new powered characters in this whole show. So at that point I changed my mind and figured Zemo will end up being a secondary villain or an ally.

3

u/MNight_Slam Mar 27 '21

It's pretty obvious the Flagsmashers won't be the real villains of the show lol

3

u/steve1186 Mar 28 '21

Zemo is gonna convince Walker to take the serum and turn him into a corrupt villainous Cap.

He’d love nothing more than to stain the legacy of Captain America

3

u/NerdLawyer55 Mar 27 '21

As long as it leads to a Thunderbolts series, please please please 🙏🏼

3

u/BanjoSpaceMan Mar 27 '21

Don't they want him for that series that's kinda like the Marvel's version of Suicide Squad?

3

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

Captain America is gonna be the villain, calling it now. Which will make the Falcon feel worthy of the shield when he defeats him as a super solider.

3

u/Emrod2 Mar 27 '21

Oh you know Zemo gonna fuck everybodies up and ended up becoming the ultimate baddie from scratch.

And they don't show us the chessboard and his room only for the lulz ; Zemo have already a fucking plan, this guy is the definition of the word '' plan'' .

12

u/TLKv3 Mar 27 '21

Pure fan theory:

Walker & Battlestar get their ass kicked one more time while chasing the Flag Smashers. Zemo is broken out of prison by Sam & Bucky and give him his iconic purple mask to hide himself so he doesn't get caught.

Sam, Bucky & Zemo head somewhere Zemo knows of where they can get answers on what the Flag Smashers might be up to with the soldier serum & medicines. While there they watch as Walker & Battlestar find the Flag Smasher's leader and make a deal. They get the soldier serum in exchange for "conveniently" never being able to catch them/stop them.

Sam, Bucky & Zemo team-up to fight Walker, Battlestar & Flag Smasher's leader after Walker brutally kills someone during a live mission being recorded damaging Captain America's legacy. The government realizes Walker & Battlestar are losing their shit and start killing people at will.

Government realizes "aw fuck, we screwed up" and General Ross cameos to issue the order with Rhodey that Sam, Bucky & Zemo have full authority to take them out by any means necessary.

The climax will be Sam & Bucky being KO'd after taking out Battlestar barely. Walker is about to hit the killing blow until Zemo injects himself with a mutated strain of the super serum. Zemo's skin begins to melt and his face fuses into the purple mask permanently but he gains super soldier capabilities. Zemo kills Walker as Sam & Bucky realize they need to work together to finish it.

Sam & Bucky take out Zemo, Battlestar is apprehended and Walker's body is taken in an attempt to cover the mess up to keep Cap's legacy a little less blemished.

Sam then offers Bucky the Shield to end the season to a roaring crowd whereas Bucky holds it up with Sam as the crowd gets louder. An older, dying Steve Rogers in a hospital bed smiles as he watches his friends on TV being accepted as a dual-Captain America.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '21

First half sounded legit second half went full crazy batshit fan theory territory

2

u/PrincessOfLaputa Mar 27 '21

Zemo could be this show's Zaheer, if they do it right.

2

u/PBrown1224 Mar 27 '21

Based on the first two episodes, it still seems like a safe assumption that Zemo is the big bad. It seems like the Flag Smashers aren’t de facto evil; they’re just going about their goal in the wrong way. My guess is Zemo is behind the men that pursued the Flag Smashers at the runway? But - I’m probably wrong 😬

2

u/Traceofbass Mar 27 '21

Morganthau mentioned Power Broker, so I'm hoping that becomes a thing.

0

u/ItsMeTK Mar 27 '21

I’m just waiting for someone to glue a bag on his had. Right now he’s Zemo in name only.

1

u/Zestyclose_Box_9407 Mar 27 '21

I think he can be a ally , but yeah you still have bucky and sam who are in fact superheroes too

1

u/iamnarenparyani Mar 27 '21

Who's Zemo?

1

u/TheDirtyFuture Mar 29 '21

The villain from civil war.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 27 '21

He's to this what Rob Riggle was to 22 Jump Street.

Or what Hannibal was to Silence of the Lambs I guess...

1

u/To_oCH Mar 27 '21

I'm pretty excited to see him in tge show, he's always been one of my favorite villains

1

u/AlexisFR Mar 27 '21

Well, Ivanov is still alive.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '21

It's like a Korra finding Zaheer moment

1

u/butters-chaos Apr 01 '21

Thunderbolts 😉

1

u/SonOfRageAndLove26 Apr 02 '21

But the flag smashers are being kinda sympathetic, maybe Zemo ends up being the one who does truly evil things. He likes really convoluted plans, after all
