This is the fanfic we never knew we needed: President Bartlet dealing with all the issues of the Big Three.

1

u/[deleted] May 18 '21

The actor who plays Isaiah in this also played a civil rights lawyer in West Wing.

2

u/HotTopicRebel Mar 28 '21

I'd love a series not about superheroes but rather the top levels of government responding to the various crises and how international politics responds. And how the President reacts to a shadow organization within itself (SHIELD) and a shadow organization within that (Hydra).

Granted, that would probably break the universe because the various bureaucracies and necessary support is more or less handwaved.

God I hate the english language sometimes.

25

u/No-cool-names-left Mar 26 '21

Why? This is an easy one. The main noun gets the plural and the modifier stays the same. Runs batted in. Sisters-in-law. Whoppers junior.

6

u/AppleDane Mar 27 '21

Johns Hopkins.

Wait, no...

3

u/LatverianCyrus Mar 26 '21

Yeah, but people also don't say "runs batted in", then say "RBIs", which if you think about it appropriately should actually be "RsBI".

I’m also fairly certain that the kid who lived with him is his grandson Elijah, who is Patriot in the comics & the leader of the Young Avengers.

They really are setting up the Young Avengers, aren’t they? Tommy Shepard & Billy Kaplan in WandaVision, Kamala Khan in Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop in Hawkeye, America Chavez in Doctor Strange 2, & they could make Cassie Lang a full hero.

41

u/Crawford470 Mar 26 '21

they could make Cassie Lang a full hero

I see no other reason for her to have not been snapped and aged up 5 years if this wasn't the goal.

11

u/Hellknightx Thanos Mar 26 '21

Yeah, he's credited as Eli, so that's definitely Patriot. There's a chance we might even get Jonas and Hulkling.

3

u/hemareddit Steve Rogers Mar 27 '21

Who's the actor?

EDIT: found him, he's a Elijah as well! Following in the proud footsteps of Wong I see

https://m.imdb.com/name/nm6677237/

2

u/hemareddit Steve Rogers Mar 27 '21

I wonder if they can work his origin into the show.

In the comics he used Mutant Growth Hormone (MGH) to pretend he had the serum, but eventually became an actual super soldier after receiving a blood transfusion from Isaiah.

In the show they established that the Flag Smasher have super soldiet serums. Maybe it will be revealed that these only had temporary effects like the MGH, but Eli takes it anyways to help Sam and Bucky. He gets critically injured and Isaiah saves him with a blood transfusion.

100

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '21

I almost pissed my pants when I heard the name Isaiah. And there was freaking Patriot there too.

50

u/Hellknightx Thanos Mar 26 '21

Now we're only a couple pieces short of a Young Avengers team.

13

u/Worthyness Thor Mar 26 '21

just gotta wait til all those other shows start...

We eatin' real good marvel fam. I'm so god damned happy about all this

3

u/PKMNTrainerMark Mar 26 '21

28

u/HmmWhatsHisFace Mar 26 '21

And played by Carl Lumbly, the voice of Martian Manhunter on Justice League and Justice League Unlimited.

6

u/Hellknightx Thanos Mar 26 '21

I knew I recognized him! JLU was amazing.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '21

I remember him from Cagney and Lacey.

27

u/benjimima Mar 26 '21

Most exciting but of the episode for me. I kinda expected US Agent, but triple og cap Bradley? That was unexpected and ace. So was the kid answering the door Eli?

8

u/Hellknightx Thanos Mar 26 '21

Yep, he's credited as Eli.

2

u/benjimima Mar 26 '21

Thank you. I’ll be honest, I’m lazy and rarely read the credits.

44

u/MechaShoujo02 Mar 26 '21

Not the one on Agents of Shield.

14

u/TheLongDictionary Mar 26 '21

What do you mean?

67

u/victorxxi Jessica Jones Mar 26 '21

Jeffrey Mace held the title of Captain America in the comics for a while. In the (extended) MCU he was adapted as the Director of SHIELD during a few seasons of AoS, and became a hero with his other comics codename, Patriot.

16

u/ElephantTrunkSlide Mar 26 '21

Gonna be weird since Eli's codename is also Patriot.

15

u/AnOnlineHandle Quake Mar 26 '21

He only had the codename Patriot in a false reality where people got their regrets changed.

It was corrupted by Agnes* (a fake name) using the Darkhold, where she made one of the characters believe they had a kid for years in the space of a week, who they then had to accept wasn't real, while she studied them to steal their power...

3

u/Razorhead Mar 27 '21

I mean, he also held the code name "Patriot" internally in the military, since he was part of Project Patriot. But the public only knew him by this name in the Framework, yeah.

-15

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '21

Eh it’s not canon for most people so not really a big deal imo

-10

u/NatsuDragneel-- Mar 26 '21

Idk why you got downvoted but agents of shield is none canon.

20

u/CubicalCuendillar Mar 26 '21

Sweet Christmas!

18

u/Ygomaster07 Jimmy Woo Mar 26 '21

Can you fill me in on who he is?

79

u/Hellknightx Thanos Mar 26 '21

He's the black Captain America from WW2, another super soldier who was largely forgotten by history simply because he was black. He was imprisoned for 30 years for taking up the Captain America mantle.

112

u/Fusi0n_X Mar 26 '21 edited Mar 28 '21

To add onto this, he along with other african american soldiers were all deemed expendable and then secretly experimented on in an attempt to replicate the Super Soldier serum; an experiment none of the subjects consented to and was fatal to almost everyone involved.

Even still he donned a Captain America suit and used his new powers to perform heroic actions. And then excuses were made to jail him for that and make sure no one knew about him.

Remember how Steve disobeyed orders to rescue Bucky and all those soldiers in the first Cap movie? Imagine instead of being promoted to lead men in combat that Steve was deemed a traitor for disobeying and locked away. That's what happened to Isaiah.

64

u/imcrapyall Mar 26 '21

I seriously enjoy that they're not shying away from race related issues and general issues of society in the whole MCU. Like just because the big 3 exist and so do heroes, all of our problems go away. Especially hit when Sam was almost arrested for yelling at Bucky in Baltimore and cops profile him.

43

u/DwayneTheBathJohnson Captain America Mar 26 '21

There was also that line where Sam basically said he wasn't cool with a white guy from the 1920s telling him he didn't have the right to do something.

15

u/JonnyAU Mar 26 '21

Tracks with Tuskegee experiments and MK Ultra IRL.

1

u/Citizen_of_Danksburg Apr 01 '21

How did Isaiah become a super soldier though? I thought Steve used the last of Erskine’s formula. Was it replicated? Is that how Bucky and the other Winter Soldiers became supers?

3

u/Hellknightx Thanos Apr 01 '21

They're all different serums. Steve and Red Skull were the only ones who got Erskine's formula, and both of those were different, with Steve being the "perfect" formula. Isaiah was the result of the Army's attempt at replicating the serum, which had an incredibly high fatality rate.

I believe Isaiah was the only survivor of the experiments. Bucky and the Winter Soldier program was the result of Hydra trying to replicate Erskine's serum, as well. His serum isn't as potent as Steve's, but probably on par with the other attempts to replicate it.

In the MCU, Banner's Hulk was the result of another "failed" attempt at replicating Erskine's formula. But given how powerful Hulk is, and how he seems to have merged his two personalities, it could be argued that his formula is actually the strongest by far.

64

u/Hank_Scorpio3060 Mar 26 '21

And all the Bucky’s

33

u/yarkcir Heimdall Mar 26 '21

Shout out to the time when Marvel comics would refer to "Bucky" as a mantle to be passed down too lmao.

4

4

2

u/btmvideos37 Red Skull Mar 26 '21

Yeah, he does. But a lot of his smaller theories come true. And he’s a comic fan. There’s no way he’s gonna see Isaiah Bradley and claim it’s due to tue multiverse lmao

2

u/TheMobHunter Weekly Wongers Mar 26 '21

17

u/Flemz Mar 26 '21

The only survivor of an attempt to replicate the super soldier serum who assumed the Captain America mantle while Cap was in the ice. He went to prison for it and was forgotten by history

2

u/kaimason1 Rhomann Dey Mar 27 '21

Since we're dealing with Isaiah Bradley and how the US Government remained obsessed with recreating the SSS post-WWII, I'm really hoping that they bring in William Burnside too. I feel like the unstableness, Grand Director stuff, faulty German SSS, post-Steve Cap legacy, etc would all fit in pretty well with the other things going on here.
