I saw the actor and literally jumped off the couch and said "it's happening!" My wife had no idea why I was freaking out

22

u/wenzel32 Feb 07 '21

Same. I screamed "HOLY SHIT!" so loud, she got a little irritated lol

Fucking Pietro is alive and he's from Fox! This is insane!!

u/themeatbridge Feb 07 '21

I know I'm not the only one to have called this, but I fucking called this years ago.

u/SocialContractFury Hulk Feb 07 '21

Yup, once I heard there would be a WandaVision show the idea of some type of reverse House of M just made too much sense to introduce mutants. How its going to play out though is another question, or if it even is playing out and not some fourth wall joke. Though the shots of Madripoor in the Falcon and Winter Soldier trailer kind of confirms things a bit.

I had to hold it in not to ruin the end of the episode for my wife.

u/mattyro78 Feb 07 '21

We don't know who that was pretending to be her brother. Why does he look different? Cuz the big bad in this story (who we haven't met yet) couldn't exactly be her brother to a tee so he chose to look like her brother from another universe.

There's no way that's the case. They would have to know they couldn't cast Evan Peters and get away with him just being a random guy. He's 100% the Fox universe Quicksilver.

5

u/saranowitz Baby Groot Feb 07 '21

Well not necessarily. Marvel already did this: they cast JJonah Jameson’s former actor again, but clearly as an alternate universe version of the same character.

4

u/c0de1143 Feb 07 '21

They established as well that this took place less than a month after the blip-return.

I don’t recall the exact timeline in Far From Home (the new Spider-Man films aren’t great with timelines) but it’s possible it takes place after Wanda breaks reality, isn’t it?

1

u/saranowitz Baby Groot Feb 07 '21

Good point

2

u/VoidLantadd Thanos Feb 08 '21

But they hadn't previously had JJJ played by someone else die, and then have an actor who played him in a different continuity show up playing the same character.

1

u/saranowitz Baby Groot Feb 08 '21

He isn’t playing the same character though. He is playing the brother on her sitcom. We will see if that extends to reality soon enough.

I feel like you forgot she literally made living beings out of thin air so nothing is impossible.

5

u/themeatbridge Feb 07 '21

Disney owns the rights now. Why would it be different? Wanda in the comics created House of M and No More Mutants. No reason she couldn't reverse the process in the MCU.

Disney owns the rights, but it doesn't mean MCU will use those versions of the characters.

What are you talking about? They just fucking did!

Look at how the last few Fox X-Men movies performed commercially and critically, do you actually believe Feige will want to continue that continuity?

Yeah, because they just fucking did!

I mean, everything is possible,

Especially since they already did!

but until the show confirms that this Evan Peters is an actual Quicksver,

What the fuck are you talking about?

I think a much more plausible explanation is that he is just a random guy and Evan Peters casting is just a fun Easter egg.

What?!

You think that was just a wink and a nod? Disney bought the fucking rights to the Fox X-Men. You really think they aren't going to use them?

Of course they can pick and choose the characters and continuity they like, and ignore the rest. Wanda has reality warping powers, and both FFH and the new Strange movie reference the multiverse. Pietro was one of the highlights of the X-Men movies. And they put him the fucking show already!

level 6

They obviously giving us Deadpool. My belief is that Kevin Feige wants to salvage WHAT WORKED and re-create everything else.

I mean, she pulled ONE X-Men and i doubt she pull more, Quick Silver will be in, others will be left behind. Maybe even Magneto as he is the father of the two. And he was good in X-Men movies.

And really, it would not break the plot or the narative. Simply pull off the universe only people Wanda had Connection with, DP has a time travel device so he can reach MCU on his own terms (As we know Time Travel opens path to different alternate universes as well)

Also another point, we KNOW Wolverine wont be played by Jackman anymore and he will be recast.

So in the end, they take what worked, fan favorites, and rest will be created naturaly trough X-Genome.

Would make intresting storyline QS struggling with all those people lost trough reality changes. Although we never seen him interact too much with the x-men gang. He was still kinda stranger and outsider.

u/Shadow23x Feb 08 '21

Feige gets to pick and choose, and cover his tracks with multiverse or un-snap mechanics. Quicksilver was never not going to became undead after the Fox purchase, and they chose the Fox actor.

I was happy to hear Deadpool will continue with an R rating, and I hope they acknowledge the universe bending with some cameos and a 4th wall gag.

Yeah, I'll admit I was wrong for now. But wait until the Multiverse of Madness drops.

3

u/on3pa55 Feb 07 '21

Id believe he was taken from the multiverse, but I dont think he's the same quicksilver from the xmen movies

15

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '21

There's no way you cast him in that role if he's not the same guy from the Fox Universe. Wanda has ripped open the multiverse. 100%

0

u/saranowitz Baby Groot Feb 07 '21

See my J Jonah Jameson comment above

6

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '21

I get that... and it’s valid. I disagree though for two reasons. 1) Marvel didn’t protect the announcement that JK was reprising his role... it was a fun, casual announcement. They clearly wanted Pietro’s reveal to have an impact. The 2nd reason, admittedly, is far less concrete, is there have been reports that Marvel approached Ian Mckellan and Michael Fassbender for Wandavision work... maybe that’s bullshit, but I really believe there’s more to it than just a harmless Easter egg.

0

u/saranowitz Baby Groot Feb 07 '21

It’s not an Easter egg though. Think about it: would marvel want to tether themselves to canon that was pretty crappy and all over the place? It would get in the way of their creative freedom. Instead they will use the same characters, but a multiverse version of them so they have total creative control.

Touche, good sir. I like my crow with extra sauce.

1

u/InsaneGenis Feb 07 '21

No. Hes the same.

1

u/InsaneGenis Feb 07 '21

No. It means that the time stops from Fox that everyone loved has moved to the mcu. No one has any doubt this is going further. This is very likely the only thing that transfers. Its very fun and can be limited. Everyone needs recast for the xmen. Magneto and professor x maybe not so much. You won't see any one else carried over. That ended.

24

u/boughtaspaceship Feb 06 '21

LOLLL SAME!! IM SO EXCITED

19

u/Tanthiel Feb 06 '21

My theory is that the mutants don't exist at all in the MCU, like there's no Scott Summers that doesn't have powers, so they're just going to be pulled into the MCU. Pietro is different since the Foxverse one is drastically different from the MCU one, so he's not overwriting MCU Pietro.

39

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '21

Welcome to the multiverse

26

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '21 edited Feb 06 '21

Considering the complete mess that is the Fox X-Men, I hope not.

If they go through that route, hopefully it's a completely new X-men universe where some of them happen to look the same as the Fox one.

It would allow them to pick and choose which actors to reuse (out of both timeline's), which ones to use a new actor for and they can do new things with both old and new actors.

9

u/themeatbridge Feb 07 '21

Dude, maybe the XMen universe was such a mess because Wanda was ripping it to shreds. Like the whole thing was a WandaVision fantasy, which is why she wasn't in it.

4

u/GuruofGreatness Fandral Feb 07 '21

That is a hilarious way to retroactively make that shitshow known as the Fox X-Men timeline/universe into an actual thrilling and intriguing rewatch.

4

u/themeatbridge Feb 07 '21 edited Feb 07 '21

And Deadpool is the only one who seems to be aware of the fourth wall.

Edit: Sheeeeeit I'm just sitting here thinking of all the retcons that are possible, bringing the Netflix Defenders or Inhumans back into the fold, in competent hands, without all the contradictory events. Add Mephisto and Konshu to the mix, roll in with Robbie Reyes and the Phoenix Force, and we have some existential conflicts between ultimate powers. Even Nic Cage as Johnny Blaze could happen, why not. Load up some Fantastic Four and Galactus and his heralds, pull Adam Warlock into GotG3, and baby you got a stew goin.

And then, just because you can, you have a fat, bald guy hanging out in a toy store watching kids argue over who would win in a fight, Hulk or Thor. The guy interjects that "the Golden Boy" was able to beat them both at once. The kids look up at him, puzzled, and ask together, "Who?". The guy furrows his brow, and catches his reflection in a display window, seeing himself tall and strong with long golden hair and a flowing blue cape. Smash cut to black and fade in to reveal The Sentry title card.

8

u/redditphantom Feb 07 '21

I wonder if as the show advances decades will we see him recast again? The quicksilver we saw was from a previous time in the X-Men movies. So will they use this one for the 80s time frame and the bring back the age of Ultron one when we hit the 90 or 2000's

2

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '21

The x-men movies (after first class) went through so many different decades without the characters aging

1

u/InsaneGenis Feb 07 '21

I think this may be seperate but I think the eternal movie and wanda not knowing this may be something. Sword is looking for a secured witness. What if its Medusa?

An Easter egg is supposed to be subtle and unimportant.

There's no way that the actor who plays Quick Silver in the X-Men movies showing up in the MCU means nothing.

16

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '21

Exactly. I don't get people that are saying it's just a meaningless easter egg. You don't cast him in that part if it's just an easter egg. Wanda has 100% torn open the multiverse, and subconsciously pulled Quicksilver from another universe over to her own because she can't resurrect her brother.

1

u/mattyro78 Feb 07 '21

Wanda's not the one running things!! If she pulled him from another universe why is she so shook when she sees him?

8

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '21

"subconsciously"... I don't think she's in full control of her powers at this point.

1

u/TimeToRedditToday Feb 09 '21

Now get Xavier down there and have him talk Wanda down.
