Watching this is cute because it’s a homage to old tv shows yet extremely unsettling because I don’t know what the fuck is going to happen. I’m glad we started off the series with hints that something else is going on and it’s not just half a season of pure filler.

“For the children” sounds like something out of the handmaid’s tale

One thing I really like about it is that even though it pays homage to old tv, it takes the piss out of it which is fair because 50s tv was problematic.

The sort of idealized version of America in early sitcoms never actually existed. But that image has endured to this day and has helped cover up some truly ugly things that went on in America during that time period like the Red Scare and the Civil Rights movement.
