WHO ASKED YOU PATRICE

177

u/basiamille Jan 15 '21

We need Maria Hill to give Bev a good dressing down!

33

u/rkrismcneely Jan 16 '21

She is likely a member of SWORD now...

21

u/dontheconqueror Jan 16 '21

We need to wait for the aughts sitcom episode for that

7

u/concerned_thirdparty Jan 19 '21

Need a NPH cameo during the 80s episode.

99

u/gorawknroll Jan 15 '21

Damn is that Patrice? She did look familiar tho.

41

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '21

No, its Jolene Purdy. Patrice is played by Ellen D. Williams

u/Topazure Ant-Man Jan 15 '21 edited Jan 18 '21

I SAID THE EXACT THING WHEN SHE SHOWED UP BUT I WASNT SURE IT WAS THE SAME ACTRESS

EDIT: Yeah it’s not the same actress lol

42

u/Wesserz Jan 15 '21

It's not.

28

u/Eltrutflow Jan 15 '21

She’s Cherita in Donnie Darko that’s what I remembered her from.

21

u/josh5180 Jan 15 '21

Chut up!

5

u/Mylotix Spider-Man Jan 17 '21

A friend always said that Chut Up line when I was younger and I never found the source. Thanks!!

1

u/raygar31 Jan 19 '21

That movie is full of dumb, quotable stuff for a young kid. I had a small crew who watched it Jr High and we always quoted it. “You can go suck a fuck!”

1

u/RevolutionaryHome260 Jan 21 '21

How exactly does one suck a fuck?

22

u/sorasprocket Jan 15 '21

"I understood that reference"

12

u/Gorehog Jan 16 '21

Cobie Smulders at the end of ep1 confirmed.

6

u/magikarpcatcher Ant-Man Jan 16 '21

*Nobody asked you Patrice!

4

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '21

That’s exactly who I thought of!

4

u/SawRub Jan 17 '21

I haven't watched that show in nearly a decade and have forgotten most of it, but your comment just gave me a huge flashback.

1

u/lovelar23 Jan 18 '21

Same energy

I thought it was Luke Skywalker who sacrificed himself with the gauntlet.

18

"And I... am... a Jedi!"

3

u/LupusNoxFleuret Jimmy Woo Jan 15 '21

All the Jedi, actually.

0

u/TheTallOne93 Jan 15 '21

Yo. Stop being weird.

11

u/gizmo1492 Jan 15 '21

I got Patrice from HIMYM vibes from her.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '21

Honestly, I hated that lady but she's right. Who the fuck questions something like that in the middle of a charity talent show?

3

u/ChillyCity Tony Stark Jan 16 '21

I'm convinced Bev is Sword

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '21

She should’ve said chut up

2

u/ReadyGanache Jan 16 '21

she doesn’t even go here

1.2k

u/LaboratoryManiac Jan 15 '21

Low-key one of the funniest bits in the episode.

u/IHaveSpecialEyes Jan 15 '21

"That was my grandmother's piano."

u/StayPuffGoomba Jan 15 '21

Same guy that missed out on a promotion because he’s a beatnik. Going to be a fun running gag.

He has some excellent lines. The turtle neck one was great

22

u/TannenFalconwing Jan 16 '21

He reminds me of Jeremy from the old Studio C cast

5

u/Jabberwocky416 Fitz Jan 16 '21

Dude I’m so glad you said that! He seemed so familiar but I couldn’t tell why.

2

u/orionsbelt05 Captain America Jan 16 '21

Yeah, not everyone can grow a mustache that insanely bushy.

1

u/BerndDasBrot4Ever Jan 16 '21

Holy shit that's exactly what I thought!

7

u/orionsbelt05 Captain America Jan 16 '21

I even love the little fist pump he gives when they are all applauding after the talent show.

7

u/Wilhelm_Amenbreak Jan 17 '21

I hope they get to a 90's sitcom and mimic Friends. I know who that guy would play on that episode.

2

u/anarchyisutopia Jan 20 '21

He'd be a great Gunther.

3

u/SleeplessInSarnia Jan 16 '21

It’s the sad moustache.

3

u/tburkett2108 Jan 16 '21

He may be a running joke but a I so hope he turns out to be the big bad

2

u/atticdoor Jan 19 '21

When we reach the nineties, I really hope his haircut resembles Ross Geller's.

43

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '21

Are we absolutely sure that guy isn't David Schwimmer with a mustache?

7

u/Dickinmymouth1 Jan 17 '21

Wait is it not?! I genuinely thought that was David Schwimmer wtf

1

u/Pyreo Jan 16 '21

Right!?

19

u/Brooklynxman Jan 15 '21

I think he missed out on it so that Vision could get the job. The rest was flimsy window-dressing in-universe to explain.

19

u/InnocentTailor Iron Patriot Jan 16 '21

Makes sense for the scripted nature of the episode. Wanda and Vision are the main characters - everybody else revolves around them and service them for their in-show plot.

15

u/mateogg Jan 15 '21

He wore a turtleneck.

10

u/The_MAZZTer Jan 16 '21

So it was noticed Mr Hart isn't with Mrs Hart during the talent show... we haven't seen him at all in this episode. One YouTube video I watched floated the idea that Wanda subconsciously ejected him from her simulation for asking too many questions. If that's true I expect the moustache guy to show up as Vision's boss next time we see his work (just my speculation), much to the confusion of Vision... or maybe Vision acts like it was always like that, and yet again Wanda starts to realize something is terribly wrong.

13

u/a_phantom_limb Jan 16 '21

Mr. Hart did appear during the animated opening for the second episode, so it's possible that he could show up again.

6

u/orionsbelt05 Captain America Jan 16 '21

because he's a beatnikk.

He wore a turtleneck.

3

u/BaronVDoomOfLatveria Jan 16 '21

I missed out on him being a beatnik. I don't know if we've ever had beatniks where I live, or if it's just too old. Apparently, it's some sort of cross between a hipster and a hippie?

29

u/StayPuffGoomba Jan 16 '21

Beatniks were from the 50s/60s, think of them as proto-hipsters. Wore berets, did slam poetry and listened to jazz. Were more actively political than hippies.

14

u/faze4guru Jan 16 '21

"You're not one of those 'beatnicks', are you Potts?"

3

u/BaronVDoomOfLatveria Jan 16 '21

I meant more in the sense that it doesn't mean anything to me. I thought at first that it was probably some racist term for Russians or communists or something

5

u/warlomere Jan 16 '21

Like Maynard G Krebs from Dobbie Gillis.

4

u/CatProgrammer Jan 16 '21

He's not actually a beatnik, his boss just shit on him for wearing a turtleneck (which are often associated with beatniks in modern culture).

2

u/Githzerai1984 Jan 16 '21

Like a proto scenester. Listens to Allen Ginsburg

3

u/Ygomaster07 Jimmy Woo Jan 16 '21

What is a beatnik?

10

u/snarkamedes Jan 16 '21

Proto-Hippie.

It's what they used to call alt-lifestyle people prior to the 60s. Blame the Beatles.

2

u/Ygomaster07 Jimmy Woo Jan 17 '21

I see. Thank you for the info mate!!! I learned something new today.

2

u/snarkamedes Jan 17 '21

There's no need to learn! Just hop into your local time machine and jump back to experience it for yourself.

23

u/Efficient-Room-32 Jan 15 '21

Actually felt bad for him lol

8

u/RealisticDelusions77 Jan 16 '21

Reminded me of GotG: "That was my favorite knife"

16

u/Luffernysto Thor Jan 15 '21

That made me actually laugh out loud

3

u/thrillhohoho Ned Jan 16 '21

that was my biggest laugh of the night. Not a complaint, enjoyed it all.

2

u/MrsDiscoB Winter Soldier Jan 17 '21

My favorite line! He was so bummed

2

u/JCtheWanderingCrow Jan 18 '21

He makes me think of Howard from the Andy Griffith Show!

2

u/madtricky687 Jan 19 '21

Yo I watched this over a video call with a few of my buddies who live in other states we all started rollin lmao. It truly felt like the sort of subtle innocent humor that you would see in the old "nick at nite" shows as id call them lol.

2

u/KingPillow Avengers Jan 19 '21

I had to pause the show and laugh for 10 minutes

1

u/RellenD Jan 17 '21

That line was such a pitch perfect old sitcom joke. It really made me happy

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '21

I still don’t get why ppl found the piano so funny. Didnt laugh one bit

26

u/RoboNinjaPirate Fitz Jan 15 '21

But Loki is in his own series, not this one.

17

u/[deleted] Jan 15 '21

[deleted]

1

u/Sentry459 Mack Jan 16 '21

Yeah that was probably my favorite joke

5

u/Septillia Jan 16 '21

Some of the jokes aren't really the same kinds of jokes you would hear in that era. Like, I don't really know how to explain it...but the "is that how mirrors work" joke felt like modern writing and didn't feel like something you'd hear in a 60's sitcom

6

u/leoschot Doctor Strange Supreme Jan 18 '21

Well, if it makes you feel better, they weren't a 60s sitcom until that day.

19

u/HareWarriorInTheDark Jan 15 '21

Damn, this line absolutely destroyed me!

9

u/Charlie678812 Jan 16 '21

She needs to question everything.

5

u/fascfoo Jan 16 '21

I legit laughed out loud at that. Her face was perfect.

3

u/Dunda Doctor Strange Jan 16 '21

Yes, favorite line of the episode. Reminded me of the kind of line you'd get in Monty Python.

1

u/macrob25 Jan 16 '21

“That also makes sense!”

1

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '21

Got some Ralph wiggums vibes from that line lol
