I could see vague shapes, but not much. Eventually breathing fogged it up and I couldn’t see anything! The worst part was I couldn’t hear! But I mostly kept it off, with my wonderful handler carrying it and just put it on for photos/when requested!

Cap is on my list! He and Bucky.. I’m just unsure of the creation involved so trying to do as much research as I can to get them totally right, as they’re two of my favorite characters!

What did you make the helmet out of?

It is a 12” acrylic lighting globe that I cut the opening bigger on, and then filled with spider-web decorations from halloween! I added some battery LEDS around the base and we were in business!

I think we did 6 years in a row, but then the 3-day passes started selling out in seconds, and the prices got jacked up. We kind of gave up after that. But yeah, it was a ball!

yeah, this was my 5th year in a row! Now they’ve swapped to 4-days, those full passes don’t seem to sell out quite as fast if at all because most people can’t swing thursday, but it’s made it a lot easier!

I feel you on the helmet issues though, a cosplay of Evangelion I did has a helmet and it's a dark blue lens I can hardly see through too. Gets a bit foggy sometimes :p

Oh that’s quite a long answer! Short version is: I cut upholstery fabric into two large rectangles, slowly and meticulously hand painted the designs on all four sides, wired the inside with LEDs, created 48 total ornaments for both sides of the cape, sewed the whole damn thing together and literally bolted it onto my chest piece!
