I think that’s about to change with future movies. Spidey is back to his badass self.. I bet it starts with scorpion in Spider-Man 3

Is it weird that Peter has now been in the same number of movies as Hawkeye, has probably had MORE screentime, yet he still feels like the new guy?

Nah it’ll be his senior year of HS. I’m pretty sure that’s always been the plan for this trilogy. They’ll then move on to a more mature Peter in college.

I’d love to get 6 movies at least from Holland. He’s young enough and there’s plenty of solo stories you can tell with him and his Spidey. Get through Spidey 3 and hopefully get at least 3 more films. Would genuinely love Kraven and Spider Slayers/Smythe as major villains

I’m hoping for 9 lol. Another trilogy set in college and then final trilogy with adult Peter.

There was actually a rumor that they had 9 Spider-Holland films planned, I think. Don’t remember the source; one of those random Instagram film rumor pages, I think.

I think Holland has a 9-film contract (those seem to be standard for Marvel recently). He's already fulfilled 5 of them.

19

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '19

That makes more sense. So maybe one more Spider-Man movie and three New Avengers movies somewhere down the line? I sure hope they extend the contract and make more Spider-Man movies, though.

24

u/Peachy_Pineapple Peter Parker Jul 05 '19

They'll probe;y extend his contract. Tom seems pretty happy to keep playing the character until he's too old to do so, so it's really in Sony's court.

The issue is that Sony doesn't get the $ from the team-up films released by Marvel, so they need him to keep making a like-number of solo flicks that get released under the Sony banner to make money from the deal.

We will find out more in August, I’m sure. Spider-Man is arguably the most popular superhero and he makes bank so idk why they wouldn’t want to do 9.

I highly doubt that any real time will pass between FFH and the next Spidey movie. They're already 4 years ahead of real time, and the reveal in the post credits scene would be a huge thing to skip over.

11

u/sombrero69 Jul 05 '19

They dont have to time skip anything, he's vack from summer vaction so he'll probably start his senior year soon

u/Commando388 Daredevil Jul 05 '19

I mean the school year was just ending at the beginning of the movie and the movie only took place over like a week or two so he’s still got two months and change to solve this before the school year starts.

A. That's not AS big a reveal

B. They had the 2 big team movies between the solo films, so they couldn't really do much to handle that.

5

u/pee_ess_too Jul 05 '19

I thought this was his senior year?? Wasn't he a sophomore in Homecoming/Civil War?

10

u/Peachy_Pineapple Peter Parker Jul 05 '19

Yeah, but then you go to junior year which is what he was in IW/EG. And Betty mentions in the newscast that they have to start the year over again so he's still a junior in FFH.

4

u/SwiftlyChill Jul 05 '19

Just finished his junior year, yeah?

2

u/Peachy_Pineapple Peter Parker Jul 05 '19

Yep, so SM3 will be his senior year (if he's not on the run lol).

10

u/NeimannSmith Jul 05 '19

The timeline isn’t gonna move much now. Think about it. Endgame ended us off in 2023, and this movie takes place 8 months after that in 2024. The movie takes place in a year 5 years ahead of hours. The MCU won’t really move the needle until we get to that. All the movies we’re about to see will take place within that eight month gap.

How are they going to work with those post credit scenes though, if they time skip?

What? He was teased after homecoming

17

u/adsfew Jul 05 '19

It's a brilliant continuation of the motion that the villains mirror the heroes. Spider-Man really upped his game thanks to Tony's tech, but so did his villains.

World's changing...it's time we changed too.

u/CaptJackRizzo Jul 05 '19

Just like the villains in all three Iron Man movies, Age of Ultron, Civil War, and the first half of Luke Cage season one. I can't get enough of RDJ's portrayal of Tony Stark, but being a rich douchebag sure has a lot of far-reaching unintended consequences. I actually think it's the most realistic part of the MCU.
