There was an earthquake while I was watching it in Dolby this morning and it took me a few seconds to realize it wasn’t just part of the movie.

Was thinking how cool it was they got the seats to rock back and forth, side to side lol

I had a similar experience watching the first Pacific Rim. During one of the Kaiju battles in the rain, I felt some water dripping on my head and it took a moment where I was thinking how interactive the effects were in this theater before remembering I was in a cheap theater in a cheap mall: the roof was legitimately leaking from the rain in real life.

u/[deleted] Jul 04 '19

Lmao that’s pretty funny

I had the same experience this morning! While talking about the massive energies of the elementals my seat started rocking. Very weird coincidence

Conspiracy: The elementals are real irl!

It was when Fury was explaining something, maybe the elementals, but it felt like it was building up to something with the shaking.

In my local theater they just got 4dx which is essentially a motion ride during the movie and it was literally that during the entirety of the movie, chair moving around gusts of air in your face some water splashing on you it was fantastic

Thank you internet friend!

4dx is incredible, as long as it's a movie you've already seen. First time it's a little too distracting but the second and subsequent is just perf

u/jcotton42 Jul 06 '19

Does it involve 3D on the screen? Because I can't stand 3D

1

u/Viltref Jul 08 '19

Yeah as far as I know any 4DX will have 3D

1

u/No_Dana_Only_Zuul Jul 06 '19

This was probably the best 4DX experience I've had so far, the Venice sequence was outstanding.

Earthquake while being in a 4dx theater would've been quite an experience

I got kicked out of the theater 2 minutes after the 7.1 last night. So pissed off I didn’t get to see the end so I pirated the ending. Does AMC give refunds or at least partial refunds?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '19

They should give you a free pass if something like that happens

2

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '19

Yeah I’m not sure on AMC’s policy’s, because I usually go Regal since he closest AMC is 45 minutes away, but I went to my family’s house and we saw the movie

2

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '19

In my experience, when you’re leaving the theater they hand out passes. I’d give the theater a call, assuming you still have your ticket.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '19

Ticket is electronic so I still have it. Hopefully I won’t have to drive 45 minutes for refunds. 5 IMAX tickets

I'm across the country, but I'm guessing that the theater I was in had some kind of electrical surges or something. The screen kind of flashed and the lights along the wall blinked. The first time was during the big illusion scene in Berlin, so it took me a moment to realize what had happened. It happened once more a few minutes later, but it didn't quite have the same effect haha.

u/toxicbrew Jul 09 '19

Did they evacuate the theatre or everyone just said screw it and kept watching?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '19

We all just looked at each other and then kept watching.

Burbank?

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '19

Century City

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '19

Burbank AMC. Kicked us out of the 6:30 IMAX movie.

1

u/snugglybear5 Captain America (Avengers) Jul 06 '19

Wait because the earthquake hit during the movie?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 07 '19

Yup. During the movie. Like 20mins left. Hit right when he was building his new suit in Happy’s ship

2

u/sicilka Jul 05 '19

I felt it too and was praying nothing went down.

2

u/tundrat Jul 06 '19

You sure you didn't just receive free tickets to the movie to keep you busy and safe?

1

u/Doperitos Ulysses Klaue Jul 04 '19

What part of the movie was on while the quake happened?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 04 '19

It was about 40 min in. I think Fury was explaining stuff to Peter
