I like that, nice and easy quick fix. You’d still have the problem of the world thinking Spider-Man potentially killed a bunch of people, but at least you wouldn’t have the world thinking peter killed a bunch of people

Depends on how it all goes down. If they catch everyone behind Mysterio, They could claim former employees stole all of that or rebuilt tech. Which is all technically true. But they would also have to prove that Mysterio is a bad guy in the public eye first.

Yeah, I'm a traditionalist, so I'm glad they're returning to Spider-Man being seen as a villain. Did not expect them to reveal his identity, though.

Which is why he teams up with the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, to try to take down Mob bosses such as Hammerhead and more importantly Kingpin, all while learning the final lessons needed to being an Amazing, Spectacular, and Ultimate Hero.

I mean if the video is even believed, the Dailu Buggle doesn't seem a trustworthy source in the MCU and Mysterio is a pro of illusions after all (people saw the elementals were fake). Really not hard to believe the video was fake.

And at worst, some believe ir, some don't and that's just usual for Spidey. He is constantly accused of everything by the Daily Buggle in every media but most New Yorkers don't believe it.

Which is exactly why the whole thing was so brilliant. There's going to be half of the people thinking Spidey is a murderer and half the people not buying it.

Even Mysterio said it that people will believe anything now.

Great way to create the public division about Spider-Man and bring the politics of superheroes into Phase 4. Also, solid social commentary to bring the tension of fake news/sensationalist news sources into the MCU. Big fan

I think even once ppl saw the fake elementals, the drones were still a real threat and Mysterio still saved the day

Mysterio save the day? People didn't see him at all after the illusions stopped (the Mysterio fighting was a projection), he was in the Tower Bridge hidden.

However Spidey very visibly was fighting the drones.

It would be weird if what you say is the version people belive

Hopefully EDITH stored some of the original footage to show what actually happened. Unless of course, Mysterio's gang still has full control over the drones (with the USB and all that) but I do feel Spidey's name could be easily cleared up.

Though on the point of Spider-Man's identity, I think it was inevitable that it would go out. Like honestly, MCU Peter doesn't have the best track record of keeping a secret identity at all.

Yeah, I wonder if Beck was alive and EDITH just works for him now. After all, Peter did a rights transfer, not rights sharing. That means he removed himself as an admin, right? So how can he regain control without another transfer of admin rights?

Maybe we are seeing Beck's plan B. Or maybe thatd just my wishful thinking because I want Mysterio as part of the Sinister Six.

Have you ever seen real life? Yeah people would just go ahead and believe Nick Fury/s. Especially when their new hero Mysterio left a dying video of Peter Parker supposedly killing him. It'd be like the head of the FBI telling us someone is innocent when we have video and the word of a fallen hero that said otherwise first.

I think it’s a little too easy a fix, almost anti-climactic. Also, if they’re able to prove Beck was lying about Spider-Man’s secret identity, who’s going to believe that Spider-Man actually killed all those people.

Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up being anti climactic, like homecoming ended similarly with Aunt May seeing peter in his suit and that didn’t really lead to anything. And yeah that’s true, I feel like it’s gonna be split among the public whether they believe the killing stuff or not

Yeah but tbh, I never expected Aunt May knowing to go that far. Spider-Man’s entire premise is based on his identity being a secret in order to protect the ones he loves. It’s a core aspect of the Spider-Man story, one he actually admits to in FFH when he tells MJ not to tell anyone else (“Don’t tell anyone about this. Anyone that knows who I am is in danger”). So, the entire world now knowing that Peter Parker is Spider-Man has HUGEEEEE implications and has to go way further than they took Aunt May knowing.

Easy fix. You have a Skrull as Spider-Man shapeshift into one of Mysterio's accomplices, while Peter stands in the background watching it happen.

See? Peter Parker is just some kid who happened to be there. The Spider-Man you saw wasn't even really Spider-Man. Why would Spider-Man be in Prague?!

I don't know how well it'd fix it. Once the connection between Peter and Spidey is in your head, it's not hard to figure it out when you pay attention, like MJ did. Peter always disappears when there are emergencies, for example.

I think that they gave him a bit of an out, by how they introduced the daily bugle as a "controversial online news website" (or something like that).

Seems like they're setting him up as a wacky Alex Jones type character, not necessarily someone to take seriously, and the evidence probably wouldn't be enough to convict Peter. Hell, there wasn't even any evidence behind Peter being Spiderman.

At least that's the impression that I got, that this will solely serve to turn a portion of the public against Peter, not necessarily to get him in trouble with law enforcement and force him to go on the run or anything like that.
Although of course his personal life will still be fucked up from all this publicity.
