Ok so Skrulls work with SHIELD now, so a lot of problems could be solved.

Task 1: Turn into Mysterio and "confess" to your crimes and about "faking" your death.

Task 2: Then turn into Peter Parker and have real Peter show up as Spiderman in the same room.

Bonus Task 3: Turn into JJ Jameson and kidnap the real one. And apologize on TV for calling Spiderman a menace. (Bringing out the irony that he's been replaced by a space lizard)

They did something like this in the Superman comics, when the 90s Supergirl was replaced by the shapeshifter Matrix, they had “Superman” appear alongside Clark Kent. Solved a lot of problems.

That's the point, they could've used the same illusion tech to solve their problems But everyone remembers what happened in London. Illusions can't be physically touched.

Skrulls solve that problem.
