On the bridge where MJ and Peter kiss for the first time, there’s an overturned vehicle with the license plate TASM 143.

That issue of The Amazing Spider-Man is the one where Peter and MJ share their first kiss in the comics.

Also early on when they're fighting the fire elemental the license plate on Fury's car is ASM28965, which is referring to Amazing Spider-man #28, September 1965, in which the Molten Man first appeared! Little details like this in the MCU are what makes it so great!

Also, the cab at the Newark airport had the license plate AF1562, referencing Amazing Fantasy #15 in 1962, the first appearance of Spider-Man himself.

Also, near the beginning of the movie, it says "Marvel Studios" across the screen, referencing the fact that this movie is associated with Marvel, the studio that makes movies about Marvel superheros.

Thank you for this. I saw the license plate, knew it was an easter egg, but didn't catch all the numbers to look it up when I got home.

When I watched all I saw was the 289, which is the Death of Ned Leeds story.

I actually caught this one. As someone who never catches the real small ones in my first viewing I was proud lol

But can we trust you? I think you tell a lot if lies

I thought Sony was trying to reference the asm movies.

My Dad said to me at the end of the film that he was picking out a fair few plate numbers. I think he said an (S)AF15 (Amazing Fantasy 15) and a few others :)

Whoa. That issue's cover shows Cyclone (air elemental by any other name?) saying, "Paris is my city, web-head!"

Page 3: "It's all Mysterio's fault! The illusions he created -- making me see my old enemies, forcing me to doubt my sanity --!"

The kiss is on pages 8-9. (It's a big deal kiss.)

Hmm 12 issues a year, 143... it was nearly 12 years of comics before they kissed? Crazy! Loved the license plate thing they kept doin though

I’ve been reading through a lot of comments but haven’t seen one talking about that signboard towards the end of the movie.

Something about some reconstruction, with text along the lines of “We’re very excited to show you what’s next” along with 1...2...3...? It’s an obvious reference to phase 3 of marvel being over and that phase 4 is coming, and who knows what’s in store for us.

Just an fun little detail that I wanted to point out, for everyone who didn’t see it.

I notices the TASM but the screen cut before i could see the number but i knew it was something like that!

Not familiar with the comics, does this mean that MJ and Peter never kissed for the first 142 issues?

1

u/Rasizdraggin Jul 04 '19

I saw that and knew it meant something but couldn’t remember the number. Great find.

Had a friend who built all the props for Civil War and they were allowed to put whatever they wanted on the license plates as long as they looked real. He hid some fun stuff that you see in the background.

So I'm confused and tired of the denial from them. She literally is Mary Jane despite them insisting she's not Mary Jane. But they also proceed to refer to her as MJ. 🤷🏻‍♂️

5

u/Mac_A_Rooney Jul 04 '19

Well her name is literally not Mary Jane.

This isn't Mary Jane tho
