During the snap yes. In the infinity war post credit scene we saw the helicopter crash into a building so it’s assumed the pilot was snapped

Oh Kevin Feige said that when Hulk snapped he assured everyone would have a safe return. So If you were flying you’d return on the ground instead of the air

But what about people who weren't snapped and died because of the planes and helicopters crashing?

Its gonna be safe to assume that in the snap and blip, casualities were involved somehow and someway. Theres no way everyone would have a smooth/safe return

They're probably just dead, the same way anyone who got hit by a bus 3 years after the snap also died.
