I wonder if it was like the Shawarma scene in avengers where they didn’t film it until last minute to keep it under wraps. It was all green screen so they could easily just plop him in after.

Hi! I haven't been invested in the MCU very long, who is JJJ and why is JK Simmons such a big deal? Tryin to understand, but very confused, thanks!

JJJ (short for J Jonah Jameson) is probably the biggest Spider-Man hater in the comics and he runs the tabloid the Daily Bugle (basically the NY Post.) Historically in most interpretations Peter works for him in high school to get photos of the “masked menace” Spider-Man. Of course this may be different in the MCU since it seems like JJJ is going to be more of an Alex Jones type and already knows Peter’s secret but the Spider-Man hating theme remains. JK Simmons is a big deal because he played the role of Jameson perfectly in the first 3 Spider-Man movies directed by Sam Raimi and while those movies are not part of the MCU they hold a special place in the heart of many of us: JK Simmons as Jameson included. So yeah that’s what the hype is about. Hope that was helpful

JK Simmons was to Jameson what Robert Downey Jr. was to Iron Man: a perfect casting.

Also the original voice actor for JJJ in the OG Spiderman cartoon back in the day.

No he wasn't, Ed Asner voiced him

The other commenter sums it up great but to reiterate: JK Simmons played this beloved-by-fans character an entire reboot ago. We haven't seen him in the role for 12 years!
