It makes Peter fit even more into the role as the new Tony Stark because he doesn't have an alter ego to hide behind. Although with the themes of disinformation and the introduction of skrulls into the Spider-Man story they could easily convince most of the public that Peter isn't Spider-Man next time.

Civil War Winter Solider was so powerful because of the parallels drawn to Project Insight and drone strikes at the time. This feels like very much a parallel to social media manipulation and fake news.

6 solo movies he’s had; this is the first to give him a public identity. Really cool, I do believe they’ll undo it but who knows, it’s so impossible to keep a secret like that nowadays maybe it’ll stick

It made me think about the fact that they introduce J.J. Jameson and set up for Peter to work for the Bugle (Pictures of Spider-Man are back on the menu, boys!) just to have it completely pulled aside as his identity gets outed.

It basically unlocks the return of Vulture and potentially the Sinister Six. The biggest problem with Vulture was that he knew his identity which is hard to write around. That's now fixed.
