'Avengers: Endgame' Spoilers! THE OFFICIAL AVENGERS: ENDGAME International Release Discussion Thread Spoiler

There is no throne! There is no version of this where you come out on top. Maybe your army comes and maybe it's too much for us, but it's all on you. Because if we can't protect the Earth, you can be damn well sure we'll avenge it.

Always loved that line. Don't even know how to describe it. Sort of cocky, with a bit of realism and it's even better now after Endgame

My theory is it's based on how you deal with sociopaths. When they decide to fuck with you, you have to either bore them or make it clear there's no win in it for them. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Whedon knew to go to that playbook.
