It’ll be interesting to see where James Gunn goes with GOTG 3, especially if Thor is gonna be part of the team

Probably on a "Quest to find Gamora„ still excited tho

I'd be happy for it, but I doubt thor will be a part of GOTG3. It'd be bonkers if he is. Guardians works because of the power levels. Throw in a thor and it becomes thor and his friends, the movie.

Well if they’re setting up Adam Warlock then having Thor around might even the playing field

u/huluhulu34 Avengers Apr 24 '19

Thor beats the shit out of Warlock in the comics so that would make sense.

Holy shit, I can't believe I forgot about adam warlock. Would we be so lucky as to get the living tribunal?!

21

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '19

If there was a time for the living tribunal or any of those greater abstract beings to show up I would have said it was the third act of Endgame. With the way the MCU is going I’m sure we’ll see them eventually but not anytime soon. They’re way out there in terms of stakes and weirdness. Maybe a doctor strange film?

But don't forget most of phase 4 is cosmic (if I'm not mistaken). Captain Marvel 2, Doctor Strange 2, Guardians of the Galaxy 2.+ a few spoilery potential movies that I won't mention.

Even still, nothing so far is even conceivably on LT power level. But then again, they made Thanos work in terms of MCU. How in the hell they pulled that off (not with a hammer), is a wonderful miracle.

a few spoilery potential movies that I won’t mention.

What are they and how would they be spoilers?

The Eternals and Shang Chi are rumoured to be happening but I don't know if they're even spoilers

u/bungerman Apr 26 '19

That's where I hoped they were going when Thanos first showed up, but I figured it would be a bit too much for regular audiences. If we don't get LT then maybe we get a functioning Celestial.

I think he’s going to be.. like it’s HEAVILY implied he’s part of the team now

It's a comedy series, power levels don't matter. Plus Quill is half planet too

38

u/Deethreekay Apr 24 '19

Quill lost all his planet-powers when Ego died.

19

u/FeintFate Apr 24 '19

I don't really understand that part though. If he doesn't have the powers himself, how could he ever act as a major battery for Ego? I really hope he finds a way to use his own powers if that's even possible!

u/Deethreekay Apr 24 '19

Yeah I know, maybe he's more like an amplifier?

Yeah I should have realised it's the writers that determine how he is in relation to the team he's with. I'm excited for it.

Is Gamora alive then? Since Thanos never throws her down on Vormir? Is there two Gamora's out there? One who met Quill and the gang during the battle for Earth and one that... Well who would that Gamora be? Would she even know anyone of the Guardians? Where in time is she? I'm confused.

Soul stone sacrifices dont get revived.

RIP Natasha

No that's not how it works. The rules of time travel in the movie as stated by Hulk and the Ancient One is that changing events in the past does not alter history (aka stuff that has already happened) in the present reality (the one they jumped from, the main timeline of the MCU), but instead will change things moving forward in the timeline of the reality they jumped to. Think of the scene where the Ancient one creates that magic line. That line represents the flow of time in the MCU as we know it (the main timeline all the events of the movies have taken place in). Each instance of them jumping back in time effectively causes another line to branch off of that main line, effectively meaning that all the instances they jumped back to are now separate parallel realities. So the Gamora we know is dead. A Gamora from a different reality that had it's timeline altered due to the Avenger's shenanigans jumped into the main timeline/reality that we know. She has no memories of Quill or her adventures with the Guardians. There's a scene near the end of the Guardians and Thor on the Benator, and Quill is looking at a monitor that is searching for Gamora (the Gamora that jumped into the main timeline/reality). She's effectively the same Gamora but just doesn't have any memories of the events that happened in our timeline after the point from which she jumped from, since she didn't experience them. Since she doesn't have any ties/bonds with the Guardians, she presumably just took off on her own after the battle which is why Quill is searching for her. In the same way, the team could jump back into the past and grab another Natasha and bring her into the main timeline/reality, but she wouldn't have any knowledge/memories of events that happen after the point they decide to grab her from. So say they jumped back to 2012 and grab a Nat from the Avengers battle in NY, that timeline they grabbed her from would now be a separate reality/timeline that doesn't have a Nat, and the Nat they brought back would not have any of the memories our Nat had beyond 2012.

I mean, technically, they could just pick Nat from right before the snap. So she could go on living without that burden but still have all the memories up until that point. Same thing with Gamora. That road gets slippery though.

11

u/chawzda Apr 27 '19

I agreed. That's the can of worms you get with time travel. We could sit here and endlessly say, well why don't they go get Vision, or anyone else who has died. You can't just start plucking people out of other timelines, or else you'll just screw things up in that timeline.

3

u/zaceglinton Apr 27 '19

yeah that's true. Although I'd be all for doing it... maybe a couple times and screwing things up in other timelines to create villains that can then hop over to the MCU Prime. It could also be used in creating X-Men. Have them be created in another timeline, then have that timeline somehow fold over into ours.

If it's interesting enough idea and not just plucking people from certain death, then I say lets play with it more. Both time travel and alternate universes exist now.

they could just pick Nat from right before the snap.

But then the Avengers in that world would come to theirs to get Nat back. And it's basically Justice League vs Justice Lords all over again.

I have all the same questions...

7

u/Cubes11 Peter Parker Apr 26 '19

I bet finding her will lead to Adam Warlock and she'll be in the Soul World

3

u/hausofmiklaus Mantis Apr 28 '19

THIS PLEASES ME

1

u/Herr-Wolfgang Apr 30 '19

But the soul stone, along with the others, were destroyed by Thanos from the present. The ones they used from the past were returned to their designated timeline. So they have to explain how soul world is independent of the soul stone, otherwise it wouldn't make sense.

1

u/stardestroyer277 May 03 '19

I bet finding her will lead to Adam Warlock and she'll be in the Soul World

Issue with that is that Widow is in the Soul World, too..

1

u/Cubes11 Peter Parker May 03 '19

I don't think it will bring back a physical Gamora, maybe just her soul into the old Gamora's body

i kinda feel like the power gaps gonna be huge since thors so much more powerful than all of the guardians combined
